CentOS 5.4 x86_64 only detects 32GB RAM while Fedora x86_64 correctly lists 128GB
Hi, We have a new 24-core Dell PowerEdge R905 server with 128GB's RAM. The 64 bits version of Fedora 12 lists the correct amount of 128GB, CentOS only finds 32GB (and so does Scientific Linux). I would much prefer to use CentOS (most of the software we use is specifically designed for CentOS). Does anyone know what is causing this/how to fix it? Many Thanks, Diederick -------------- next

Animating a persp plot: non-constant scaling?
Hi all, I'm making an animation of a rotating persp plot of some data. It's easy, really: I just plot the persp in a loop over the theta parameter, saving each plot, and then chain them together with ImageMagick (as suggested on Paul Johnson's R-tips page). But... when you run the animation, because each graph is individually re-scaled, the image is not the same size in each

analyse fMRI statistical maps in a mixed procedure (within-subject and between-subject error term)
Hi all, I have a set of 3D statistical parametric maps derived from an fMRI experiment in which we have two levels of dependency. - All subjects were scanned twice. - All subject are dizygotic (non-identical) twins. For every single scan (and thus statical map) we have a behavioural measure, which we would like to regress against the set of maps, while correcting for the dependency between

scriptaculous accordion feature - Jump?
Trying the accordion feature as offered at: http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/accordion+feature The objective is to remove the "jump" reported in the Rico accordion feature. My demo of the scriptaculous feature, however has a noticeable jump when tested if FireFox. and IE Win. See: http://www.jimdavis.org/accord3.html Have I implemented this incorrectly? Jim

Hi All, I''ve finally got fed up of struggling with Windows and am on the verge of splashing out on a Macbook for Ruby/Rails development. I''ve seen DHH''s post about it on loudthinking but I wondered if anyone else has any more wisdom... Is it worth it over a powerbook? Any tips on good OSX apps for Rails dev (textmate, i know already)? Anything not working well on

Xorg cursor instead of wine's (or even changing wine's default cursor)
Is there a way to hide wine's default cursor or change it or use Xorg's cursor? (I did ask this on IRC last night, but only 1 person responding he/she didn't think so, so I'm asking on the list just to be sure). Reason for this is, I have found a mouse.c patch that enables a sort of HW OpenGL cursor for WoW. (Basically shows the wine hw cursor instead of hiding it, then with a

A couple of bugs...
Hello together! I've found a couple of bugs with current compiz git, most of them related to the use of KDE and wanted to let you know. 1. kde-window-decorator crashes every now and then. This seems to be especially often when starting kaffeine media player, but not exclusively. I've attached a backtrace, though I don't know if it is useful in this form... 2. Resizing a

Hey Kudzu, leave that device alone!
How do I get kudzu to still look for new equipment but stop checking to see if some devices are present or not? For example. I have an ATEN USB keyboard/mouse adapter. Sometimes at boot, it is not ready? or something and then kudzu asks if I want that in or not. Of course I want it in!!! I may have to unplug and plug it back in, but don't bother me. I have a similar challenge with

When the user selects this option I ask them how much they want to pay, etc., I then take this info and the user is taken to an authorize.net payment page (I pass the data that

replace() error: new columns would leave holes after existing columns
Hello, I have a problem with using replace() to convert a vector of dates from yyyy-mm-dd to julian date. For example, I type replace(x,2004-05-14,134) and I receive an error: Error in `[<-.data.frame`(`*tmp*`, list, value = 134) : new columns would leave holes after existing columns If I can successfully convert, I have a script that will convert all of the dates in
