TE410P alarms stay RED with 1.4.22
Hi, I tried "upgrading" from debian's 1.4.21.2 package to vanilla 1.4.22 but then my TE410P alarms stay RED and no zap channels can be created, even if they are correctly listed by "zap show channels". I tried adding "dahdichanname = no" to asterisk.conf's [options] to no effect. Going back to 1.4.21.2 brings my alarms back to OK. This is with zaptel

Am I opening myself to some security vulnerability if I unprotect the Controller classes'' redirect methods?
Am I opening myself to some security vulnerability if I unprotect the Controller classes'' redirect methods? I merrily wrote a (specific to my university) authentication filter as a separate class. As part of the authentication process it needs to re-direct the user to a university server to log in. This all works fine except that the redirect_to methods of a controller are all

GSM Gateway behind SIP ATA?
I have an analog GSM Gateway that is connected to a normal SIP ATA device. Basically what it does is this : when you call the extension nr. of the SIP ATA port, the GSM Gateway will pick up the phone and presents a (new) dial tone, and then dials whichever DTMF tones it received. The SIP ATA ia a Grandstream HT286. I would like to use the GSM Gateway to route my outbound cellular calls, how

building the development version
I'm trying to build the current development version of R on an SGI running IRIX6.5. Everything proceeds merrily until I reach the eda package. This is the error message I get if I cd to the appropriate directory and type 'make' or 'make all.' Does this make sense to anyone? -- Thanks, Debby gmake[3]: Entering directory `/l/fsc/dfs/src/R/src/library/eda' building

unable to run script/console on OS X
Hi. Lighttpd''s merrily serving Rails on OS X for me, but I can''t for the life of me get script/console to run. I get, always: /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:18:in `require__'': No such file to load -- readline (MissingSourceFile) (And then a chain of errors leading from that point...) I followed Jason''s manuals.textdrive

rsync mirror solution: how to prevent accidental mirror deletion
I had a recent disaster scenario with rsync. I was wondering if there were any suggestions to guard against in the future: I used to maintain "mirror" backups of the /home dir on our production_server using rsync to a backup_server. The primary server had a rsyncd daemon running and the backup_server had this line in the crontab: 10 01 * * * rsync -av --delete root at

meetme dahdi and zaptel
We recently updated our Asterisk (1.4.24) box from Zaptel (1.4.12.1) to Dahdi (2.1.0.4). Everything seemed to go smooth with the exception of meetme. Meetme seems to not be able to find a zap channel for conferencing. We use voice introductions in our conference bridge and it seems to break that feature. The error from the console is.... # app_meetme.c:2593 find_conf: No Zap channel available for

Does rsync detect file corruption?
Hello, Suppose that every day cron runs this: rsync -a --times --delete $HOME /my/backups/dir/latest In general, rsync will only update a file if it has been modified. Now, imagine that one of the files becomes corrupted in the backup directory, but the timestamp hasn't changed. Will rsync detect this? I am using rsync in a backup solution which could be summarized to: cd

Asterisk 1.6.1-rc1 with OpenAIS and different subnets
Hi List, im running a test server with the 1.6.1-rc1-release of * and OpenAIS. Asterisk is configured so far and running stable. Now i set up a second server to test the distributed devstate. In a cluster on the same subnet it's no problem. But we have a customer who wants that feature for checking telephones on two branch offices connected over vpn-tunnels. According to that we have

AsteriskNow install addons despite license conflict with FFA and G.729
Hello, We installed AsteriskNOW (Asterisk version 1.6.2.19) and purchased FFA and G.729 licenses and installed them successfully. When we tried to install asterisk addons (we need the CDRs), we get license conflict error messages. Searching google, we see that there's a way to force install the addons, but that "way" isn't properly detailed, so we didn't manage to do it.

Puppet common misconceptions wiki page.
After stumbling merrily into the ''node inheritance variable override'' problem last night (see ''RFC: Changing variable override'' thread for more info), it occurred to me that it would be useful to have a page in the Wiki to describe common misconceptions of the way that the puppet language and system works. Are folk happy for this to be a separate page, or

Sorry again for the only marginal relation to asterisk, but the issue does affect the voice performance I am experiencing, so I am soothing my guilt with that. Bet you don't see this every day: ast% uptime 13:48:08 up 981 days, 18:29, 1 user, load average: 1.08, 1.02, 1.01 ast% I *REALLY* want this machine to see 1000 days uptime, if for nothing other than bragging rights. Backup Proxy & Automatic Failover
Hi, I read in the Asterisk Whitepaper, that you can run two cloned servers, one as a primary, one as a backup, and have them automatically failover to the other unit when it crashes, or when you need to restart it. The primary application of course, would be ensuring calls can be made when frequent updates are being handled, or when an update must be restarted on a busy network. The term
