POS modems
Hi,
If anyone is interested in the low speed modems needed for POS
applications (V.22, V.22bis, V.22bisFC and V.29FC) please contact me. I
had some spare time while travelling, and finally got the V.22bis code I
started a long time ago into a start where its basically functional. I'm
now looking for input about exactly what application software expects
from these modems, so I can plan

well, you could consider not broadcasting at all, that would be 0kbps,
and would fit my 9,6kbps gsm connection

RAID-5/LVM/ext3
Hello:
We trying to configure one machine (Compaq Proliant ML760) with 8 disks
(72GB each disk) with RAID. We are thinking to use ext3 and LVM in RedHat
7.2 for manage one filesystem with 500GB. This filesystems have to store
near off 5.000.000 of files.
Is this possible? Could I resize the filesystems/volume to 1TB? what are the
ext3 and LVM limits? someone have tested sismilar environment?

Compiling libspeex for Blackfin
Hi Jean,
First, I would like to thank for the prompt reply.
Basically, what I have to do is to run a speex coder/decoder on a
Blackfin processor, on top of the microC/OS II kernel. I wish I could
use uclinux, since I'm familiar with Linux, but this doesn't depend on
me.
You said that the assembly code is written for gcc, not for
VisualDSP++. Furthermore, in the link you sent me, the

MultiTech MT5634ZBA usb modems
Everyone,
I have a centos 5.10 machine set up to be a fax server using hylafax+
with three multitech MT5634ZBA modems. I am still in the testing phase
of using this system for production, and during my tests I have detected
a problem I have not been able to solve except for unplugging the modem
from the usb port and plugging it back into the usb port.
In the middle of a fax production of

Modems compatible with NTL caller id
I'm looking at using a modem to provide caller ID info on my NTL line
following the steps in the article posted by Darren Poulson:
http://www.22balmoralroad.net/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=1
I was wondering if anybody had experience of using any modems (can be
pci/isa/external) with an ntl line (in an ex. Cable & Wireless area if
it makes a difference) and

As others have said, 16kbps should do the trick. Keep in mind though that
the quality of the sound will also depend on the sampling rate. MP3 will
handle some higher sampling rates higher than some of

Depending on what you are broadcasting, for 28.8 I would go 16kbps and be

FXS Solutions for modems and other non jitter tolerant devices
In the past we have used Adtran Atlas 550's to break out FXS ports for
devices like modems. The great thing about the 550 is that internally it
is all TDM so there is absolutely zero latency.
We are able to use ATA's for faxes and analog phones but devices that use
modems, they fail 99.99% of the time when using an ATA.
We tried to migrate to TA908 devices; they have FXS ports built

Modems behind Asterisk - how?
The configuration I'm building replaces an existing PBX with Asterisk. There
are 8 existing modems that people use to call in from the outside to connect
to PC(s) on the inside to transfer data, etc. Callers access these modems by
calling the main number and then dialing an extension for the modem they
want to talk to.
What are my options for supporting these modems with Asterisk? Here are

Fax modems and Samba
I am running an FC 2 server with Samba 3.0.10. It is serving files and
is PDC for several WinXp workstations. There is now a demand to be able
to fax from the WinXP workstations, and I'm trying to figure the best
way to set up a modem pool on the server and make them available to the
workstations. Is that best handled as some kind of resource share
through Samba? How would that be

Compiling libspeex for Blackfin
Hi,
I think the (small) readme has been accidentally omitted from the
tarball. You can get it at
http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/speex/README.blackfin
Note however that all the assembly is written for gcc, not VisualDSP++.

Modems supported by Asterisk
Which modems are supported by Asterisk for full-duplex (as a VoIP-PSTN
gateway) operations? I've tried Asmax Mustang (based on TI RK 56000
chipset) but it's 4-bit only, also tried Zoltrix on Rockwell 56k
chipset, hacked a lil' bit chan_modem_aopen (so it chooses 7200Hz
instead of 8000), sound was 'understandable' but only one-way :/ .Does
anybody has experience in using
