smbd/oplock.c:oplock_timeout_handler(375) after samba upgrade
I recently upgraded from samba 3.0.10-1.fc3 to 3.0.21b-2 running on FC5. Today was the first day of a typing class which uses the network version of Mavis Beacon Typing which depends on file sharing. The users are hanging and then getting an error message during logging into the product. In /var/log/message, I can see the following message for each user similar to: [2006/04/24

CentOS 4.5, kernel-2.6.9-55, NTPD trouble
Following the update this morning, NTP is failing with the same symptoms that I saw several years ago (pre-CentOS, I believe) when Anaconda mistakenly blessed my ASUS A7N8X, Athlon (CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ stepping 00) based system with an SMP kernel. The symptom is that NTPD never establishes sync with a server, showing over the top jitter values. [root at mavis log]# uname -r

UP vs SMP kernel ?
There was a discussion here several days ago that was precipitated by my decision to manually install the new kernel before YUMming the upgrade to CentOS 4.2. The upgrade went south but I recovered by doing a fresh install and a bunch of copying from backups. All's well EXCEPT that I'm back in the same "box", thanks to anaconda. I set out to upgrade kernels this morning:

Dreamweaver MX 2004
Hi, Has anyone had any luck installing or getting it to run from a windows install? Basically I'm stuck at exactly the same point (I get the exact same messages and all) as http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-users/2005/02/0018.html and the people who posted comments in the AppDB http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=1810. How to add uplink in ESXi virtual switch
Hi, I have an ESXi server, on top of it I have created one VM whose IP address is 192.168.79.1. I want to connect to the VM on ESXi server from my host machine but I am not able to do it. I have created a network "networkforSC" and I have pasted my xml file content below but I am not able to add any uplink (how to add it?) . Below is the xml file of my node as well as the network which

System Recovery
I hosed my main desktop pretty badly a couple days ago, have reconciled myself to bad news and would appreciate some advice. (CentOS 5.3 fully updated but now backed down from kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5 to 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5 just to try that.) The whole debacle began when I was investigating my formerly-weekly backup script to run to completion. The backup is kept on an external

[Bridge] [PATCH tip/core/rcu 04/13] wireless: Apply rcu_access_pointer() to avoid sparse false positive
From: "Paul E. McKenney" <paulmck at linux.vnet.ibm.com> The sparse checking for rcu_assign_pointer() was recently upgraded to reject non-__kernel address spaces. This also rejects __rcu, which is almost always the right thing to do. However, the uses in cfg80211_combine_bsses() and cfg80211_bss_update() are legitimate: They is assigning a pointer to an element from an

HPLIP
First, has anyone successfully installed the HPLIP driver from HP in CentOS4? Second, does that driver really provide the toolbox which includes handy stuff like ink level monitoring? I got the source RPM (hplip-0.9.4-1.1.src.rpm) from an FC4 testing mirror, which rebuilt fine on this machine: . . . + umask 022 + cd /home/rj/rpmbuild/BUILD + cd

Help with using the WINEDEBUG variable
Hi users. I have found the WINEDEBUG variable to be very useful. However, now that my program starts, using WINEDEBUG=trace,+all or WINEDEBUG=+all creats log files well over 2.0 GB. I am trying to find messages like the following: 0009:trace:seh:EXC_RtlRaiseException code=c0000005 flags=0 addr=0x4725f1 (and the few lines above it) to try and figure out what's causing my Dreamweaver to

After building and installing my package, I get the following warnings when I load my package (with library(maVis)): Warning messages: 1: In the method signature

correctly uninstalling/reinstalling wine?
Hi list, Every time before I post a problem or question, I try to upgrade my wine to the latest version (as I was told to do at the beginning). Well I'm going on to my 5th or 6th new version of wine. As an experienced Windows user (and a fairly new, but OK Linux user) I am concerned about the effect on my computer of simply installing wine after wine after wine. I seem to recall copying
