BIDI (Hebrew) Support
Hello, I've looked for a BIDI HOW-TO, but did not find any. I use wine-0.9.5, and run IE using ies4linux. It works great including Hebrew showing Hebrew text correctly. The problem is that I could not write any Hebrew character... Whenever I type a character I get "?". So I've looked at wine-bidi issues, and found that I need to compile wine with icu library. I did! using

Wine language problems
Dear Wine Team, I believe that I got the correct e-mail adress, however, if I don't, please redirect me. Anyway, I have a problem with wine that I'm wondering if there is a fix to. everytime I try to run a program under it, it comes up with a funny language, kind of like a Arabic font. I'm not sure how to correct this. This happens even when I try to open the control panel for

Stupid --delete mistake
Hi, I've a nasty feeling I know the answer to this post, but I'm gonna ask and pray anyway :-) I just made a rather stupid commandline ordering error and managed to delete a whole load of data (mostly word files/some pics fwiw) with rsync -delete. I know, I'm an idiot (and a big one at that). To make matters worse this was off an ext3 partition, which from what I can find out

Only one app keeps me on Windows - Can WINE free me?
Currently, there is only one application that is keeping me on Windows, and that is the TivoDesktop software that lets me DL episodes from my Tivo, and in conjunction with the DirectDump tool, allows me to convert those Tivo files to standard MPEG-2 files for editing. Does anyone have experience running TivoDesktop under any version of Wine under any distribution? I'm rather distro agnostic

Datasets for "The Statistical Sleuth"
Hi everyone, I wonder if there already exists any R packages containing all the data sets for the book "The Statistical Sleuth" (http://www.proaxis.com/~panorama/home.htm; also available at StatLib http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/datasets/sleuth). I'm writing an R package with a friend for one of our stat courses where SAS is the main tool being used. As the time is limited and half of the

What Windows apps stand in the way of switching to Linux at your shop?
http://kegel.com/wine/qa/#app is a list of "must-have" Windows applications for various vertical markets (at the moment, just k12 schools and churches). These are the Windows apps that really keep a school, church, or other organization from switching to Linux. I'm hoping that this list will help focus Wine QA on those key Windows apps, and thereby increase the number of groups who

Libguestfs as filesystem forensic tool
Greetings, I am playing around with the idea of using libguestfs as a forensic tool to investigate VM disk images. Some use cases as example: * Sandbox for malware analysis. * Incident response in cloud environments. Libguestfs is a precious resource in this case as it allows to abstract the disk image internals and expose them as mountable devices. Combined with some state of the art

Re: Windows apps from windows parttion
I'd have to guess "no" on this one. I believe wine uses it's own registry settings, so for most windows apps to run they need to be configured in the windows registry -- unless they happen to be stand-alone apps that don't require any special files or registry settings (some of these do exist). I'm assuming you'd like to run programs installed on your windows

Tracking DLLs
Does anyone know what command line params I can use to track what DLLs a a program is accessing -- I'm trying to debug "unreal" from a compiled install of Wine 0.9.4. Everything works fine for the most part but the keyboard and mouse tend to freeze up. I thought maybe using a native DLL for mouse and keyboard might fix the problem. Thanx much, Jeff

Wine config file??
I can't seem to locate wine.conf in wine version 0.9.4. I made configuration changes using WineTools and now I can't change the configuration anymore. I'm assuming assigning a native dll is causing problems and I'd like to change it back. thanx Jeff

Auto mapping to windows home drives?
This could be quite simple but I don't know how to do it. Does anyone know how I can automatically mount a users home drive (which is located on a windows server) when they log in? Is there a pam module for that? Thanks very much, Sapan

Currency symbols in Xtick or Ytick labels
How do you label Xtick and Ytick marks with Currency symbols: $2000 instead of 2000? I would like to add dollar symbols to tickmarks on boxplots, histograms and back-to-back histograms. My Examples (requiring the lattice and Hmisc packages): data(case0102, package="Sleuth2") str(case0102) boxplot(Salary~Sex, case0102) histogram(~ Salary | Sex, data=case0102) require(Hmisc) #
