[Flac-users] > Re: Compression of single-file CD image

How do I get WINE to see a mounted disc image as a CD?
I prefer to run games that require CDs from image files, since it is faster and protects the life of my CDs. In windows, I would just mount the disc image and I could then play. But using Wine and Ubuntu, it appears to work differently. When installing a Windows CD using WINE under Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, how should I go about mounting a disc image so it is seen by games running under WINE as a CD?

Short demo CD image
Hi, While investigating why the Xen 1.2 Demo CD won''t boot on a particular laptop, I noticed the download image appears to be truncated. "isoinfo -d -i xendemo-1.2.iso" reports: Logical block size is: 2048 Volume size is: 294080 That would suggest the image size should be 294080 * 2048 = 602275840 bytes. However I only have 292376 * 2048 = 598786048 bytes. The web server

Re: Make WINE detect an image as a CD drive with an audio disc
Sometimes working in this field can drive you pretty nuts. Issues like this one are an example. A seemingly little detail (loopback mounter only mounting single file system) can have your wheels spinning for days. Time lost is money lost if you ask me. Some days I have so many of these issues that I wish I could just go back into the Marine Corps, take face full of oleoresin capsicum

How to load an ISO as a “CD” to satisfy “insert CD” prompt?
I am trying to run my own legal copy of Propellerhead (http://www.propellerheads.se/) Reason 2.5 through Wine on latest Ubuntu on Asus (http://www.asus.com/) netbook, which has no optical drive. When the application starts, it asks me to ?Please insert the CD?, which I thought I knew how to do because after all, I had to mount the one of the three ISOs to start the installation. I run this

CDemu Half Life 2 install problem
Hi! I'm trying to install HL2 and I have no CD drive, So I've been using CDemu to mount the CDs, which works, but when the installer asks "Insert Disc 2" I eject the CD with Code: wine eject d: I then mount CD2 and click to continue but nothing happens and the window doesn't go away. I am stuck and exhausted my resources, can anyone help?

CD emulation (a la daemontools)
I was wondering if anyone was aware of a method for mounting virtual CD devices with CD image files. I keep images (.CUE/.BIN pairs) of my CD collection on a NAS appliance tucked away in my closet. I'd like to write a script to mount each one, create ID tags, rip the tracks, then move along to the next one. I figure with a quad core opteron, it should be able to crank through them in a

Games freeze with CD music
So it looks like Wine is doing a good job of emulating Windows. It's so good that I'm having the same problem with old games as I was under WinXP. If I play a game with CD audio tracks, it freezes for a few seconds every time the track changes. Under Windows, I used to apply the IgnoreMCIStop fix from the Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit to fix the problem. Does Wine have

[Flac-users] Re: CD archival best practices?
I've just started to archive my CD collection (about 800 CDs), and my criteria are pretty much the same as the original message under this subject, except that I'm doing one file per CD. One file per song is just too much of a pain, and there's really no need, given FLAC's ability to have metadata in the file. The first thing I do is run cd-discid against the cd, and store that

Make WINE detect an image as a CD drive with an audio disc
I've been trying to figure this one out for some time now without success and can't find anyone else with this exact problem, so hopefully there's a guru around here that might be able to point me in the right direction. I've got a copy of Dark Reign I want to play on my netbook. The problem is that I only have a USB CD drive which I don't normally connect, but can for a

Is it possible to boot a CD-Image of a bootable CD (no disk emu) via pxe
Hello Peter, is it possible to boot a CD-Image of a bootable CD (no disk emu) via pxe. I've build up the infrastructure to boot normal floppy images via PXE (under W2K and/or Netware). I have a ISO image of the bootable CD (1 tack TAO eltorinto with an a single boot sect -> bootimage is 2kB, ISO image about 600 MB) I suspect that a combination of MEMDISK and PXELINUX with activated UNDI
