Music on Hold -- Error
We use Asterisk 1.4.7 on CentOS with Bandwidth.com as our provider and Polycom 330's for endpoints. When one of our end points places a call on hold we get the following in CLI. There is no music on hold provided for the caller. The SIP.CONF entry for our connection to bandwithd.com specifies disallow=all and allow=ulaw. Should there be a similar setting on the user.conf entries?

Speech Rec on Voicemail
I've had requests to processes incoming voicemails with voice recognition routine and add the output text to the body of the email message from * with the attached .wav file. Has anyone implemented this type of feature and willing to share some notes?
Thanks!

Asterisk Program Closes
Periodically, maybe once or twice every few weeks, we see our instance of Asterisk 1.4.7 just close out without warning and we have to reload the module. We're running CentOS. Has anyone else seen this before?

Temporary Service - Dominican Republic DID
Hello List,
I'm trying to help a family from the Dominican Republic and to do so need a temporary DID from DR.
The short story is that there is a 2 year old here with a serious heart defect from a remote area of Dominican Republic near the Haitian border. He was referred to Gift of Life D.R. who eventually contacted Gift of Life Central Florida and this is where I'm involved. The child

cannot compile simple.c from within Syslinux 6.03
Hello All,
This is my first time requesting help, so please bear with me. I don't upgrade Syslinux very often (only when the need arises), until now I have been using version 4.05. However, I have recently acquired several UEFI servers that are in need of being able to do OS installations via pxelinux. I have upgraded to Syslinux version 6.03, however I am not able to compile my custom

Switching to another Samba server
I've been running Samba 2.2.2 for a while as a domain controller on my
mostly Windows network. It's been working great up to this point.
Anyway, I just put together a new Linux server and installed 2.2.2 on it
as well.
I copied the conf file and pretty much mirrored everything on the
existing server, changed the paths and the "workgroup" field in the conf
file to match the new

acroread = resource hog
Any have trouble with acroread taking up massive cpu and memory?
I exited my Firefox browser and the lil bastard was still hogging up
my resources.
Took up 69% of 4GB, and wouldn't let go, until a kill -9 showed'em,
have to do it every time I open a pdf in firefox.
Any use Xpdf or something else?

Anonymous access to Samba, or something like it?
I know, why IIS when I can Apache? I'm actually running both... Kind of
a hybrid network. Anyway, I'm trying to configure IIS to use a Samba
share as its www root and I think I'm running into a security issue.
See, in IIS, I have to connect as a specific user when I attach a
network share as the www root. The share, from Samba's point of view,
is read-only and every file in it

Acts_as_authenticated plugin?
Hi,
I''ve just downloaded the acts_as_authenticated plugin but I can''t find much
in the way of documentation.
First is there anywhere that someone could point me to to get a handle on
this.
Second.. Does the plugin still require the use of generators to use?
Thanx in advance
Dan

Load at 5, no CPU I/O or swap in use
We are currently running CentOS 5 update 4 on a Dell R910 server 16
cores/32 hyperthreaded with 64GB of memory. It is our main Oracle 11g
DB server for one of our customers and is attached to an MD 3000
storage array. We are having a load averaging around 5 but see no swap
in use, CPUs are pretty much idle and no I/O wait. We have Oracle
dataguard turned on in transactional mode. I've checked

standard install on OS 10.3.9 crashes on start without useful diagnostics (PR#8500)
Full_Name: Bob Donahue
Version: 2.2
OS: Mac OS 10.3.9
Submission from: (NULL) (204.152.13.26)
That's pretty much it. I did the most basic install possible, tried running the
package through the GUI and on the command line, it crashed hard, immediately,
with absolutely NO useful information as to WHY it crashed.
To reproduce:
1) get the installer for OS X
2) install in the default places

The smbd ran away with the spoon...
It seems that my smbd process got fuxed somehow. It appears to have
take up all the file handles, and there were over 130 smbd processes
running on the system. I'm not entirely sure what happened. My first
thought is that something bad happened between the server and the
Windows client that's running Kaza (with a couple hundred mid-download
files) and it just spiraled out of control,

Easy Newb Question
OK, so I have a link_to_remote. I am too dumb to figure out where I can
set a css class or id attribute.
<%= link_to_remote("X", :url => { :action => :destroy, :id => message },
:confirm => "Delete ''" + message.title + "''?",
:complete => "item_removed(''item_" + message.id.to_s + "'')") %>

Lost Sound after Firefox crash
My Firefox crashed and I lost sound, is there a way to release the lock
Firefox had on sound when it crashed?
I was streaming sirius radio at the time of the crash.
Is there a daemon I can restart? I could just reboot but I'm not windows
admin :)
I logged out of the GUI then back in, would restarting X clear it up?

prevent runaway PID taking down server (RAM/swap)
Is there a way I can prevent processes from taking up all the ram then swap
until the box crashes/freezes?
I'm using IEs4Linux and the wineserver seems to start taking up RAM until my
box dies, it happens slowly.
I am able to kill the sucker now, but I'd like to not have to worry about
that.
