Is there a way to test SIP credentials without making a call?
Is there a SIP packet that a SIP client can send to Asterisk to confirm that the credentials entered by the user are correct, without placing a call? We'd like to test the credentials when the user enters them, rather than wait until they try to make their first call. -- Eric Chamberlain

Is there a way to force a codec on an incoming sip uri call?
Hello, I'd like to implement some public sip uri's that poeple can call into and get an echo test. Is there a way to force a codec so that users can test various codecs? Something like: echo-test at example.com (negotiates whatever codec, is there a way to figure out what codec was negotiated and tell the user) echo-test-g711 at example.com (forces g711) echo-test-g729 at

What are the minimum realtime fields for sipusers?
I'm trying to get sipusers working with a realtime odbc database on Asterisk 1.6. We have sippeers working from the database, but need sipusers to be in a separate table for other implementation reasons. sip show user test load returns results from the database. Selecting non-empty elements after strsplit of string
Hello, I am attempting to manipulate strings in which there are differing amounts of whitespace before and after each element taht I want to keep (any word, letter, or number). However, after strsplit and unlist, I know how to select specific elements with "[ ]", but I want to select instead all elements that are not missing. That is, do not select any elements that are simply

Is there a way to specify the fromdomain from the dialplan?
Is there a way to override the fromdomain specified in the sip.conf and instead set the value from the dialplan? If we use: Set(CALLERID(num)=user at domain.com The SIP From header turns into: user at domain.com@10.10.10.10 We want user at domain.com, and we can't have an entry in sip.conf for every provider. -- Eric Chamberlain

[Fwd: FW: extconfig.conf]
Hi Andrew, OK, (the simple fact that those machines are not connected to internet makes that i have to go to those machines and copy them on a usb-stick, so it causes some delay each time...) -------- Forwarded Message -------- Sorry - I meant extconfig.conf - not cdr_mysql.conf (my mistake). I use (and done for a long time) mySQL for realtime storage - and it's never let me down (touch

OpenOffice or LibreOffice?
Given that the Document Foundation has now split away from Oracle to continue the development of an independent office suite, do we have any idea which was CentOS and Red Hat are planning to go in this area - OpenOffice or LibreOffice? I know that LibreOffice is not production ready yet - they only have their first beta available, but it's just a matter of (likely a short) time before the

timeout problem
I found the response below today online to a question I had. For some reason I never got the mail. I am not quite clear on what "DHCP + DFG + 2DNS entries" means when calculating the IP to set for the router: Thanks Re: [CentOS] Yum/WGET/HTTP sourceforge etc. new April 12, 2010 08:10AM On Sun, 2010-04-11 at 22:57 +0000, tony.chamberlain at lemko.com wrote: > Here is what I

Anyone with a working pfSense firewall configuration?
Other SIP clients behind the firewall (not using STUN, work). We have a SIP client using STUN and ICE behind a pfSense firewall. The firewall is behaving oddly. REGISTER packets work fine. But when the client tries to make a call, the first INVITE packet from the client pass through the firewall and makes it to the Asterisk server. The Asterisk server sends back a 401 client sends ACK,

SA-12:04 commit on RELENG_8_1 incorrect?
Hi, This was the commit of SA-12:04.sysret to RELENG_7_4, which makes sense to me: http://svnweb.freebsd.org/base/releng/7.4/sys/amd64/amd64/trap.c?r1=216618&r2=236953 But when it was applied to RELENG_8_1, it looks wrong, as if it was applied in the wrong place. The indentation is broken, and the code inserted looks like it wouldn't be effective:

Geographic distance between lat-long points in R?
Dear R, I have a bunch of geographic locations specified by lat-long coordinates. What's an easy way to calculate geographic distance between any two points? OR, perhaps there is a function for calculating a distance matrix for K sites? Sincerely, Scott Chamberlain [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

ggplot2: facet_grid with different vertical lines on each facet
Hello, I am plotting many histograms together using facet_grid in ggplot2. However, I want to then add a vertical line to each histogram, or facet, each of which vertical lines are at different x-values. The following example adds all vertical lines to each facet: ggplot(data, aes(values)) + geom_histogram() + facet_grid(.~variable) + geom_vline(xintercept=c(5,10,15)) How can I add a vertical

Is anyone doing real time updates to where asterisk registers?
Hello, We need Asterisk to register with a variable and changing number (hundreds) of VoIP providers, is there a way to do this in a database and without reloading the entire sip config? Where Asterisk needs to register is determined by downstream users, so we need to do it real time and with minimal impact on the server. If Asterisk can't do this, is anyone using anything else to

Hello, Is it possible to include information about phylogenetic relatedness among species (when species are replicates for each study within a meta-analysis) in a meta-anlaysis in the metafor package? Ignoring missing elements in data.frame()
Hello, I am trying to make a data frame from many elements after running a function which creates many elements, some of which may not end up being real elements due to errors or missing data. For example, I have the following three elements p1s, p2s, and p3s. p9s did not generate the same data as there was an error in the function for some reason. I currently have to delete p9s from the

Asterisk as a SIP to XMPP Jingle voice gateway
Hello, I'm looking for a SIP to XMPP Jingle voice gateway. I see that Asterisk has Jabber and Jingle support, but it looks like Asterisk acts as a Jabber client. Are there any Jabber server solutions, where Jabber users can call SIP users by using the SIP URI and vice versa? -- Eric Chamberlain, CISSP Chief Technical Officer Voxilla - http://voxilla.com/
