Fw: iax2 bindaddress: how to reload so iax2 can bind to an alias IP
I just found an old bug report at bugs.digium.com with exactly the same problem.
It's really too bad this bug wasn't addressed:

iax2 bindaddress: how to reload so iax2 can bind to an alias IP
I'm trying to figure out how to reload iax2 (without breaking existing calls) so it can listen on a new IP address (like "ip addr add local ..."). This alias IP is added/removed by a custom process (script) for clustering purposes.
The iax.conf file contains "bindaddr=0.0.0.0".
I tried a "iax2 reload" (executed without errors or warnings) but I'm still not

Registering via IAX2 succeeds, but bridging to the registered peer fails
Setup as follows: [private*] - Natting Router - [public*]
[private*] cannot register via IAX2 correctly while [public*] is running.
Status remains UNKNOWN even after minutes, calls from [public*] to
[private*] are not possible.
Console output of [public*]:

IAX2 to IAX2...i'm obviously an idiot!!
Hi All
I'm trying to get two Asterisk servers to talk to each other using IAX(2).
I've read the WiKi and the docs and tried the examples.....
I can't get it to work (I have 2 x 7960's registering on one server and 1 x 7960 registering on the other).
I've set them up as follows...
The two servers are set up as friends and have consecutive IP address's.
The setup is

IAX2 Port strangeness
For some unknown reason, two of my IAX peers started registering on
strange ports. Nothing has changed in the config, but they cannot make
calls to me, however I can still make calls to them. In my IAX2 peers,
the following is showing:
user1/user1 203.XXX.XXX.XXX (D) 255.255.255.255 4585 OK (21 ms)
user2/user2 203.XXX.XXX.XXX (D) 255.255.255.255 11280 OK (37 ms)

Anybody doing ChanisAvail on IAX2 channels?
Im trying to do this:
exten => s,7,ChanIsAvail(IAX2/anton:intrudercom@armando-gw)
But I get that the chan is unavailable eventhough I can make calls to that
channel. Is there any chatch?
The channels is defined as peer and Ialso tried doing a register on iax.conf
for that channel. Everything is registering ok and I CAN make the call.

IAX2 crash course wanted
Hello;
I'm curious where I can find a good document describing how to weave
together some servers in different places. Trying to keep things as
simple as possible here, I don't understand how to get 2 way calling
going on between clients connected to separate servers.
First, I have 3 asterisk servers running. One is my firewall here in
Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have two others in

IAX media
Hi ALL;
In IAX protocol, both rtp and signaling are handled on the same port, so the Asterisk is always in the path of rtp traffic.
Am I right?
If yes, is there anyway to set Asterisk just as signal proxy ?
Regards
Mohammad

IAX2 insists on not using port 4569??
For some reason, starting just today, 1 out 3 of my asterisk servers is
having issues calling 1 other server. The only issue I see is that when
it registers with the problem server it is using port 1027, not 4569.
ie:
Registered to 'Server 1', who sees us as 'Server 2':1027
Server 1 then proceeds to timeout trying to register with Server 2.
The way I have each server registering

IAX2 Registered OK without IP
This has come up before on the list and archives but I don't seem to
find a solution for this. On just a few nodes we have this situation
where we see the IP disappear from the CLI iax2 show peers list but
the status shows OK:
3012/3012 (Unspecified) (D) 255.255.255.255 0 OK (89 ms)
How can the status be OK a few milliseconds ago and have no IP ?? The
strange thing is

IAX2 trunks unreliable becoming UNREACHABLE aftera time
Dear Royce;
Did ur problem resolved? Because now I am facing same
problem.
It look like that it happens with IAX trunk only, but
does not happen with IAX endpoints that registering
(as trunk does not register, it sends the call
directly).
My initial analysis that one of the following can help
to let the trunks talk: if there is an IAX endpoints
registering to the machines, then trunk become

IAX2 to SIP
Hi everyone,
I just got myself a IAXy device and am trying to integrate it to our
asterisk server.
I configured the IAXy and it is registering and I get a dial-tone. If I
try calling another SIP device, and I get "can't translate IAX2 to SIP"
How can I make my IAX device communicate with a SIP device (and
vice-versa)?
Here's what the log says:

IAX2 + port translation
Hi all,
I'm having trouble with incoming IAX2 calls on 1.2.7.1 - mostly they
work, but sometimes the caller just gets dead air or disconnects. IAX2
debugs show HANGUP and INVALID codes in these cases, rather than a
proper RINGING transaction.
My firewall is doing NAT, and changing the source port from 4569 to
something else - my IAX2 provider suggested this might be a problem. Is
it?

weird IAX2 things going on
Hi all,
I have 3 * boxes all running the same OS and software version. Machine A
has an X100P card, machines B and C do not. They all have the same
dialplan.
I can dial from machine A to either of the other 2 with no problem. I can
dial from either of the other 2 to machine A with no problem. I cannot
dial from B to C or vice versa.
What's really wierd is that I can dial from machine B

realtime peer w/ callbackextension does not register after 'sip reload'
Hello everybody,
I am having a problem with realtime SIP peers.
On Asterisk 1.8, I had SIP peers for external SIP providers configured in database and additional register lines in sip.conf so they would register.
Now I upgraded to Asterisk 11.3.0, partly because of the promised callbackextension feature for realtime peers (https://reviewboard.asterisk.org/r/1717/). Removed the 'register'
