The cell companies are "doing it" like they think makes sense.
If they know your cell is off/out of range they route instantly to VM.
They could give "4-10 rings" of fake effort, but why. With follow me
roaming and such, they want to process the call as fast as possible.
If they don't know if the cell is available, they may go through about 4
rings of searching, but

Problem with Verizon Wireless
Hi,
I'm having a problem with Verizon Wireless,
I'm hoping someone here knows the right way
to phrase the trouble report so it gets to someone
at Verizon who can solve the problem.
We have DIDs that simultaneously ring on
voip lines, and Cell numbers.
Verizon voicemail is turned off.
Every thing works the way it's supposed to,
UNLESS one of the cellphones is turned off,

Hello, list.
I've set up an outbound alerting system to play a recording when systems go
down, etc. and I'm noticing that cellphones tend to answer() and then start
ringing the actual handset. So far, I've verified this behavior with
Verizon, T-Mobile, and Google Voice (the last produces a SERIOUS delta
between bogus answer and actual answer).
Has anyone figured out how to detect

The above is quite interesting, it would be interesting to see if it
uses sip, which I have no reason to believe otherwise, and if it does,
can it be hacked to talk to Asteirsk? In which case one could have a
very good extension to asterisk using any Sprint Cell phone, or maybe

How to retrieve a phone number from call forwarding?
Hi,
I'm very new to Asterisk and I have the following scenario.
1. Let's say I have a number of 1-222-222-2222 from my SIP service provider
(VoicePulse).
2. I point my phone, Verizon wireless cellphone (1-111-111-1111), voicemail
to the number provided by SIP service provider (1-222-222-2222).
3. I use another phone (1-333-333-333) to call 1-111-111-1111 and leave a
voicemail message.

pound key tone generated after call answered?
Hello,
I've been working on an * dialer application, whereby a requirement is that if no one answers the call, a message must be left on voicemail. I've been using the record(tmp.gsm) function with silence detection enabled to wait for the greeting to finish before speaking.
However, on voicemail systems where you can interrupt the greeting with a pound (#) key to access your voicemail

Asterisk use with verizon hotspot
Apparently Verizon is blocking or changing packets on port 5060 so my
softphone from my hotspot will not work.
How do I set asterisk (11.23.0) to run default 5060 for all other devices I
have - BUT for my software run on a different port like 5070? I'm using
linphone and is easy to change the ports from 5060 to 5070 ( I think).
Thanks,
Jerry

VoIP over 3G/4G Data
What are the recommended settings to successfully implement VoIP over 3G/4G
data connection. Assume we are talking about using Polycom phones, and the
3G/4G data connection comes from a Cradlepoint router that is plugged in
with AC power and has high gain antennas. The device will be stationary, so
we will not have to worry about tower handoff?s breaking the connection.
This will be for fixed

Sending Caller ID info in MD/USA
All,
Having trouble getting answer from Verizon. I believe Asterisk will let me specify a name and number that is sent to the PSTN (Verizon) of outgoing calls. For instance, if I have a client, First Bank, and their toll free number is 888-555-1234, I could send that name and number. Verizon is telling me that they will forward the number I send them, but the name will be my company's

Loop Help
Hi all,
I am a beginner R user and need some help with a simple loop function.
Currently, I have seven datasets (TOWER1,TOWER2...TOWER7) that are all in
the same format (same # of col and headers). I am trying to add a new column
(factor) to each dataset that simply identifies the dataset. Ultimately, I
would like to merge all 7 datasets and need that column to identify what
rows came from what

GPS-enabled cell phone/PDA
I would like to capture the lat/lon coordinates from a GPS-enabled cell
phone or PDA. Is this possible? Must I subscribe to this information
from the cellphone network provider, or can I capture it without charge?
What devices will broadcast the coordinates? Is there a device that
will broadcast its position inband that can be captured by Asterisk?
Can an SMS message include coordinates?

exten => s,n,Dial(IAX2/user:pass at

CallerID not passed to Sprint & Verizon Cellphones via XO PRI
Hi,
I have an odd problem where when a call is made to any landline phone the
callerid number shows up on the caller id device with no problems. However
when I call a cell phone from Sprint or Verizon it always shows up as
unavaliable. I've tried multiple cell phones from each carrier. Though
today I called a t-mobile phone and the callerid came through fine.
Is this an * level problem

Problem: ringtones stop unexpectedly
I should've mentioned that before. I've tried doing that and it has no
effect. I've tried both upper and lower-case 'r's.
I've also tried a workaround that I thought would work, but it doesn't:
Answering the call and then using the playtones(ringing) command before
connecting to my cellphone.

polr in MASS
Hi, I am trying to test the proportional-odds model using the "polr" function in the MASS library with the dataset of "housing" contained in the MASS book ("Sat" (factor: low, medium, high) is the dependent variable, "Infl" (low, medium, high), "Type" (tower, apartment, atrium, terrace) and "Cont" (low, high) are the predictor variables
