xeon processor and ATLAS
hi everyone:
I have a Dell Server that has a Xeon processor, and I would like to use the best ATLAS posted in the R website. I find that R has ATLAS for core2duo and P4. I am not sure which one of these two is best suited for Xeon processor, or is that neither of these two is good and I should stick with the default one that was installed originally?
Your advice is very much appreciated!

Rblas for dual Xeon
Does anybody have a tuned Rblas.dll compiled against ALTLAS for a dual Xeon
system?
Unfortunately, we have very strict security that does not allow compilers of
any sort on production desktops - we only have Pentium III development PCs.

John Marsland

CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo
Dear list,
I am planning to buy a new server -because the new Core2 Duo based Xeons
(5100 series) are considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron
machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some
real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4
on such a setup.
Specifically:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz
Board: Intel S5000 chipset

64-bit R on Intel Xeon EM64T running fine
Dear mailing-list members,
In the days of cheap RAM and microarray applications feasting on memory,
64-bit computers become more and more useful - to actually make use of memory
beyond the magic 4GB border. I would like to report the success of running
64-bit R on an Intel Xeon EM64T machine under Linux. Just like on an AMD
Opteron, R v2.0.0 compiles fine (and out of the box) and is happily

Need 3.3v 64 PCI Booard with 800FSB (for ordinary Pentium4, not Xeon)
Just spended ~ hour googling - all boards are based on GC-XX or I750X
Chipsets - all for Xeons. There also some boards for Pentium 3.
Can someone point me to a board with 64Bit 3.3v PCI for ordinary P4 with
800Mhz FSB.
Thanks

Intel Xeon and hyperthreading
Another question some of you may help me make decisions on. I've been
doing some reading that indicates that having HT turned on in this dual
xeon machine might actually slow down the computing process rather than
speeding it up. I rebooted this a.m., and turned HT off, just prior to
my main application run. One thing that might be of note, this
application is using OMP for utilizing

choice of processors
Hi there
I am moving into a production environment. I will mostly be using Meetme,
with Ztdummy for timing. I have a question on which of 2 processor setups is
favourable.
I have the choice between Dual 2.8GHz Xeon Processors and a single Pentium 4
3.06GHz Processor. These will cost me exactly the same amount.
Would one of these processor setups be favourable, both in terms of
performance and

intel dual core processors and new kernel packages
I've just got bunch of RHEL4 erratas (looks like U2 is out). Looking at the
kernel errata (kernel-2.6.9-22.EL), one of the things in list of new features
is "Intel dual core support".
What does this exactly means? Does it mean if I have dual core pentium
processor and use older kernel that it will use only one core, and I need newer
kernel to use both cores? Or is it only

Which g729 module for HP DL 360 G3 (Xeon CPU's)?
I am running a HP DL360 G3 ans want to know the optimal g729 module for it.
There don't seem to be any optimised for Xeon's. I am currently using i686,
but is there a better one to match my Xeon CPU's?

Dumb question about a Xeon Procesor
Sorry to ask here but never used a Xeon before. Tomorrow i need to
install Centos 4.3 on a Quad Xeon (not dual core). Xeon is a 32 bit or
64 bit system?
I already have centos 4.3 x86_64 on a Dvd and im not sure if i need to
download another ISO or can I use the one i have?
Again, sorry to ask.

RE: Does my platform support VT? (dell 1855/Xeon/linu x)
Hi,
Stop me If I am wrong but DELL 1855 aren''t shipped with Dual Core Xeons ....
So you shouldn''t have any VT support on your server.

two wine processes not able to run on xeon
Hi
We are trying to run two wine based windows jobs on the linux environment. When we try doing that in P3/P4 it goes fine. When we try that in Xeon, the later job always fails as follows:
wine: Unhandled exception, starting debugger...
err:seh:start_debugger Couldn't start debugger ("winedbg --debugmsg -all 135148400 160") (2)
Have anyone seen a similar issue?

OT: P4 Vs Xeon for Linux
I have just had delivered a new HP Proliant server and it is based on an
Intel Xeon 2.8GHz processor. On site already we have an Acer Altos G310 with
a P4 2.8GHz processor.
The new HP server was destined for another site with about 30 persons to
service some simple file and print sharing and to manage their email
(postfix + MailScanner). The Acer is hosting our Intranet, file and print

FAQ Question 1.1; Hardware specififications
There are some minor but significant differences between the FAQ and the
User''s Manual..
1.1. What is Xen?
Xen is a virtual machine monitor (VMM) for x86-compatible computers. Xen
can securely execute multiple virtual machines, each running its own OS,
on a single physical system with close-to-native performance.
However the User''s Manual (3.0) states:
