AEL Variable Warning Messages
I have two offices sharing a phone system. They also share a common internal context because all of the employees of the second office also work for the first office. Each office has 4 outside lines and I have defined 2 channel groups in my zapata.conf. The second office needs all of their outgoing calls to go out over their lines so the people they call will have the correct callerID. I

Dailplan code for holiday detection?
This has been on my ToDo list far too long. I have a small call-center setup, with basic time of day/day of week validation before putting callers in the queues. With the holidays upon us, I need to add check to see if 'today' is a holiday so I do not put callers in unmanned queues. Due to how the agents work, I have to allow joinwhenempty. Does anyone have a snippet of dialplan code,

Disconnect queues members every night
Hi, To force user to behave correctly, i want to make a process of disconnecting every member but one (special alarm phone) every day at a special time. I'm thinking of a cron job that will create a "call file" that will dial an appropriate extension to do the job, is this the correct way ? I'm facing two problems however, the call file system is here to connect a channel to

Queues
Hello Everyone, I'm looking for help/ideas on how to do the following: I have a couple of people out of many (the couple of people randomly change) who log into an "on-call" queue. A call comes in and it rings the "on-call" extensions, but no one answers. I would like the call to then try the cell-phones of just the people that are logged into the "on-call"

AEL2 on Asterisk 1.2.4
Hey all, I am very interested in using AEL2 (don't want to upgrade to 1.4 to get it though), but am having some problems upgrading/patching my asterisk system. I am following the instructions on the wiki: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+AEL2#AEL2AnnouncementsandNews But get the following error:

Announcing ext3-0.0.5e
Hi all, OK, here is ext3-0.0.5e. Changes since 5d are summarised below. The major changes are the barrier support: this infrastructure should be sufficient to allow the snapshotting interface which LVM is wanting for ext3. The journal initialisation fix will also help people adding ext3 to an existing filesystem. Look for ext3-0.0.5e.tar.gz on:

transfer option and pressing #
Hi I have setup forwarding - xfering - where you press # and then the extension. I add t to the dial cmd. My problem is that when you call something like internet banking they want #, but when # is pressed asterisk gets it instead. is there a way around this ? I haven't been able to get asterisk to listen to flash either Alex -- Why is it there are so many more horses' asses than

Really wacky problem with internal extensions.
We have an Asterisk server acting as a hosted PBX system for many clients, and we're going through an upgrade to Asterisk 1.6 by moving our most important (and complicated) clients one at a time. But we're having a problem with one customer that I really can't explain. I can place calls directly to one phone at the customer's location (they also have an IVR that asks for an

installing asterisk for Ubuntu Synaptic
I have an Ubuntu system and went into Synaptic and checked asterisk for installation. Once installed, I started it with /usr/sbin/asterisk -vvvgc and got the following output with several errors and notices. Do I need to do more or are these ok? I expected to have some conf files in /etc/asterisk but there is nothing there. Thanks! Created by Mark Spencer <markster@digium.com>

QUEUE_MEMBER_COUNT: Bug or functionality ?
Hi, I use QUEUE_MEMBER_LIST and QUEUE_MEMBER_COUNT to automate Agent logoff at specified time. This works fine in normal case but today i noticed than two agents where still logged-in, but with a status of 'Invalid', and the script wasn't able to remove them since while QUEUE_MEMBER_LIST() correctly listed them, QUEUE_MEMBER_COUNT() gave 0 instead of 2. If this is expected

AEL Status
Hello-- It's been a while since I wrote any updates about AEL/AEL2 to the users list, and I thought it might be worthwhile to update everyone on what is going on in respects to AEL. What the heck is AEL? The Asterisk Extension Language. A higher level language for extensions.conf, which will appear in the config file, extensions.ael, in the /etc/asterisk/ (or equiv) directory. It provides

Any way to get rid of AEL created contexts?
"show dialplan" keeps showing contexts created by AEL. I tried deleting /etc/asterisk/extensions.ael but kept getting these messages in the Asterisk log: Feb 14 21:39:53 WARNING[6074] pbx_ael.c: Unable to open '/etc/asterisk/extensions.ael': No such file or directory Feb 14 21:39:53 WARNING[6074] pbx.c: Requested contexts didn't get merged Is there any way to delete or

clarification on gosub, macros and AEL
I'm trying to clarify my understand of gosub, macros and AEL. My understanding is that macros using the Macro() application, which is defined in extensions.conf by: [macro-foo] ... and called in extensions.conf with exten => _9NXXNXXXXXX.,n,Macro(fastbusy) is deprecated in favour of Gosub(). True so far? But then there are "macro"s defined in extensions.ael: macro foo() {

AEL and };
Hi! All the AEL examples have a semicolon after the closing curly bracket, e.g: context test { 1 => Hangup(); }; but without ; it works fine too, e.g: context test { 1 => Hangup(); } So - what is the reason for the ; after the closing curly bracket? thanks klaus

AEL - what is error: ael.flex:647 ael_yylex: Unhandled char(s):
Hi List, When doing 'ael reload' on two servers, which are setup with asterisk 1.4.22 and 1.4.35 respectively, I am getting multiple lines of this strange error: ERROR[15483]: ael.flex:647 ael_yylex: Unhandled char(s): On three other servers with same versions of asterisk, i.e. 1.4.22, I don't see this error.
