OT - Is Netgear ProSafe FS108P with PoE silent ?
Hi, I need to locate a Asterisk server and a PoE-enabled switch on someone's desk. I've seen this Netgear ProSafe FS108P with 4 10/100 and 4 10/100 w/PoE ports silent enough ? Any recommendation ? [OT] switches
Pardon, this might be off-topic. I'm reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_switch For a setup of ~5 agents, would I be wrong in thinking that a generic 16 port unmanaged switch would fit the bill? The first model to come up for me in an Amazon search is: http://support.netgear.com/product/fs116 Is this a reasonable choice? Would I be wrong in thinking that most any Fast

Mail now in ActionMailer
OK everyone, so we finally have Mail merged into ActionMailer replacing out TMail This is for the 3.0 release, and not part of the 2.x tree. I am the TMail maintainer and I decided this year to write a ruby email handler, the Mail gem is my solution to this. Mail takes a very object oriented approach to email. It conforms to RFCs as closely as practical and parses the 0.5gb Trec and 2.5Gb

Rails - Mock going out of scope?
Hello list, I think I have a rails related RSpec problem with a mock going out of scope on a recursive call to a model. The code is at: http://pastie.textmate.org/79821 if you want to see it highlighted. I have pasted it below as well. Basically, I have an acts_as_nested_set model called "Node", which works fine. I have a function which finds the language name of the node instance.

Inexpensive Layer 3 Switch?
Any recommendations on an economical layer 3 switch? Preferably something that you have hands on experience with connecting to IP phones with attached PCs? Specifically I need the ability to set the VLAN in the phone to tag voice packets and to set a native VLAN on a per port basis on the switch to put the untagged packets from the attached PC into a separate VLAN. POE is not a requirement

Call in progress tones
Hello all, I've played with background and play sounds apps and googled around and asked the list before to no avail. Does anyone know of a way to have tones played during the call progress stage of the call? We (especially on some international circuits) get up to 5 seconds of silence before the phone starts ringing or is busy. I don't want to force "R" on the Dial app as

rake features and cucumber feature/name not producing same result
Hi all. If I run rake features or cucumber features/* I get one failing FIT scenario in one of my features. If I then run that feature that contains the FIT table with the failing scenario manually, it passes. I run it again with rake features or cucumber features/* it fails, run individually, it passes. Obviously some state is carrying over between the features. Any idea where i would start

Why does ActiveRecord allow perception of success when updating an ID, however it doesn't really work(i.e. no change in database)?
Hi, Why does ActiveRecord allow perception of success when updating an ID, however it doesn''t really work(i.e. no change in database)? Here''s an example. The update of "id" versus update of a non-existent attribute. ?> ai = AccountItem.find(:first) => #<AccountItem id: 1, account_id: 1, date: "2009-01-11", amount:

Indentation Conventions for Ruby and Cucumber

View-Driven-Development by Behavior-Driven-Development and RSpec
One of the things that turned me on to BDD and RSpec was speccing views first, that the desired end would drive the development. In previous projects while using Test::Unit I would try to make educated guesses as to what would be needed in the model and controllers to derive the view without actually writing the view until afterwards. This is all because testing relied on each previous

cisco 7940 and auto-answer (aastra 480i vs 7940)
Having scoured the web, I still am no better off .. I have 2 Aastra480i's , and 120+ cisco 7940's :) . I am trying to decide which model to use going forward when we purchase more kit. They both seem much on a par regarding features. Q1: Is there anyway of making the cisco auto-answer _without_ having to manually edit the configuration on each phone ? I've been able to get the

Mock or Stub strategy for validates_uniqueness_of
Hi, I''m a bit stuck with mocking a unit test of a join model with regards to a validates_uniqueness_of clause. 1.9 Compat and merging mail gem into ActionMailer
Hi all of both RoR Core and TMail. You may know me better as the maintainer of TMail. However, TMail has been a bit difficult to get working with Ruby 1.9, so in the light of that, I sat down over the past few months and wrote myself an all encompasing mail gem. Mail passes all of its hundreds of specs equally well in Ruby 1.8.6, 1.8.7 and 1.9.1. Mail reads every email in the TMail test suite

Mocking Resolv::DNS?
Hello Rspecers, I have a rails project where I am calling Resolv::DNS.open and then using the block to check a domain name. The code snippet in question is: domain = "mytest.com" Resolv::DNS.open do |dns| @mx = dns.getresources(domain, Resolv::DNS::Resource::IN::MX) end I obviously want to stub this out, especially for speed but can''t quite work out how. Question on phone line "pass through"
Hi all, I have a TDM2400 full of FXS cards and a TDM800 full of FXO cards. If I have a fax machine on the FXS port dialing out through asterisk on the TDM800 FXO, should I be expecting any problems? Or should this just work as expected? (ie, flawlessly with the asterisk box essentially transparent to the whole operation). I am doing it this way to allow many faxes and modems to share a dial
