Samba PDC and Win2k PDC
hi,
I would like to change the old windows 2000 domain structure into one samba 3 domain. the migration is to take place gradually for the departments. I had imagined to packing the samba pdc with another domain name into the same subnetz as windows pdc.
Windows 2k DN = work.wurst.local
Samba 3 DN = work.wurst.de
IP Subnet = 192.168.2.0/24 (Samba and Windows)
is it possible ?

Memory problem
Hi list,
I am analysing a large dataset using random coefficient (using nlme) and
fixed effects (using lm function) models. I have problem with my R version
2. 2. 1 due to memory allocation difficulties. When I try to expand the
memory I get the following error message.

--max-nsize=10000000

I have many files (0.4.dat, 0.5.dat, ...) of which I would like to calculate mean value and variance and save the output in a new file where each line shouldlook like: "0.4 mean(0.4.dat) var(0.4.dat)" and so on. Right now I got a a simple script that makes me unhappy:
1. I run it by "R --no-save < script.r > out.dat" unfortunately out.dat has all the original commands in

Badness in i8042_panic_blink at drivers/input/serio/i8042.c: 992
Hey all,
Just wanting to add my 2 cents here. I have a X/OS 4 Dev box running on a P3 550 and 512MB. Started getting this error when I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL.XOS. added the nmi_watchdog=0 to the grub boot line and all is fine now. A strange side effect seems to be the system load has dropped by 0.5 - 1.0 since the change. may only be noticable on my box because of the older arch

HVM guest support unavailable
Hi,
when I try to start a hvm the well known error message "Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?" appears. I am using an Intel E8400 on Asus P5E VM DO Board. /proc/cpuinfo info shows that the CPU has vmx support. I have enabled "Vanderpool Technology" in BIOS.
According to the xen user manual the package dev86

rsync man page
Hi there.
Someone might want to notice that - compared to the official rsync man page - this page has a lot more information about each option, when to use and what to expect:

Thanks

windows XP versus wine
Hallo wine user team,
I am not sure if I need an original XP version to work with wine. In other words. Can I use wine without installing XP, for example. Because I have several old applications, which I would like to run on linux together with wine. Would wine emulates the hardware like a virtual machine, or takes wine the local hardware to deal with?
Thanks for your answer in advanced.

dovecot-1.0.rc13 LDA
Hello,
I've installed dovecot-1.0.rc13 on FreeBSD-6.1 with LDA support. But I didn't found the /var/run/dovecot/auth-master file on my system.
I need this file for the
protocol lda {
...
auth_socket_path = /var/run/dovecot-auth-master
...
}
settings in the /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf.
Does anyone has an idea?
PS: On a older installation (dovecot-1.0.rc7) the file exists and

Dovecots default NTLM Version
Hi,
I'm not sure what NTLM version is used as default by authentication between Outlook and dovecot and I couldn't find it out with a packet sniffer.
I think its NTLMv2 but I'm not sure so I'm asking here.
I know that NTLMv1 is not secure against a man in the middle.

How can I minimize the memory usage of speex?
Hi,
I am trying to implement Speex in freeRtos on LPC2138 (ARM7 core), to record about 10sec of voice. I like to compress the data by using Speex, because of the limitation of RAM (32KB). I have read that the speex encoder and decoder need less than 6KB RAM.
"The fixed-point narrowband encoder+decoder memory use has been cut by more than half, making it possible to fit both in less than 6 kB

Quorum and Fencing with user mode heartbeat
Hi all,
I read the FAQ, especially the questions 75-84 about Quorum and Fencing.
I want to use OCFS2 with Heartbeat V2 with heartbeat_mode 'user'.
What I missed in the FAQ is a explanation of what role in the whole OCFS
system is taken by HAv2 (or other Cluster software)
when using heartbeat_mode 'user'.
1) When is disk heartbeating started? (Mount of device?)
2) When is

Feature request: External deletion command
Hi everyone,
it would be nice if rsync could call an external command to delete files. Than one could call a secure deletion tool like "wipe", which overwrites files a few times before deleting them.
Right now Im wiping personal data which I dont need anymore, but it doesnt help much since they can easily be recovered from my backup made with rsync.
Bye,
Mario

R CMD Check fails under Windows XP
Hello,
I have a problem with the checking and building of R packages that contain C or FORTRAN code.
I have implemented R 2.3.1 (2006-06-01) and the corresponding toolset under Windows XP and Windows 2000.
The MinGW compiler components are (exactly as recommended for R 2.3.1)
gcc-core-3.4.5-20051220-1.tar.gz
gcc-g++-3.4.5-20051220-1.tar.gz
