Cox regression for prevalence estimates
Hello, I'm an MD working in an eye clinic. I'm learning by myself to use R for use in my research works and for implementation in a software project. There are some authors who recomends the use of Cox regression as a substitute for Logistic regression (<a href="http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2288/3/21.pdf"> Barros AJD, Hirakata VN. Mix Data and SIP Phones
I?m looking to install a couple of SIP phones into a small/medium company. The easiest way would be to simply add the phones on the LAN network. But what would happened if someone make a huge file transfer: will it make trouble on the Sip connections ? I think so, that?s why I?m asking you if there is a good (better) way? Maybe connect SIP phones on a separate network and setup a linux box as

antivirus sniffer/scanner for networks
Is anyone aware of a package that can detect viri on the network & possibly alert when there are? Here is the scenario: Our network is utilized by guest users all the time, sometimes into the thousands. We see guests from all over with a variety of OSs & hardware, all of which, we have no control or say in that matter. I am looking for something that I can run in promiscuous mode and/or

Specifying an IPv6 wildcard in the interfaces directive?
My network uses reserved IPv4 addresses (192.168.2.0/24) behind a NAT firewall, but public IPv6 addresses behind a filtering firewall. My ISP (Comcast) assigns both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses dynamically. As a result, the IPv4 address of my internal Samba server is statically assigned, but its IPv6 address is dynamically assigned. The server has multiple IPv4 addresses assigned to it, all on

Cisco 79XX and VLANS
Hey gang, We have about 30 Cisco 79XX phones all running latest 7.5 SIP. We are also using all Cisco Switches and Routers. Everything works great except that when you reboot a phone it takes like 3-5 minutes for it to come up. The phones spend tons of time 'Configuring VLAN..' We don't run any VLANs. Is there some way to skip this? In the 'Network Settings' I have

iSCSI best practices
Hey folks, I had some general questions and when reading through the list archives I came across an iSCSI discussion back in February where a couple of individuals were going back and forth about drafting up a "best practices" doc and putting it into a wiki. Did that ever happen? And if so, where is it? Now my questions : We are not using iSCIS yet at work but I see a few places

troubleshooting echo on speakerphone
Hello all, I'm looking to troubleshoot some echo issues and possibly "studdering" while using the speakerphone with the Intellitouch ITC3002. On the hardware end, i have a 2621 setup as the router with some policy maps for qos, and a 2900XL with cos priority set to 5. I have setup created 2 vlans currently (really small office), 1 for corp/data, and 2 voice vlan. Asterisk is on

string/character to number
I did a very quick search of the archive and couldn't find a readily available answer to this one: I'd like to convert, for example: c("a", "b", "a", "b") to c(1, -1, 1, -1) In the case of the first vector, it may be any length, but will always only have two unique values. It must always be replaced by corresponding values of 1 and -1. Any

Cisco 7960 & v7.4
I have recently upgraded my firmware from v6.3 to v7.4. Now when the phone is booted or rebooted, the initial screen "Initializing Vlan" takes forever to initialize before it initializes IP. Any ideas/Thoughts? (Trying not to Revert back to v6.3). -C -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

PoE switch recommendations?
Hey, all. We're rolling out VoIP, and I'm wondering about PoE recommendations, as we're going to have to replace our current network equipment. My first inclination would be to just plunk down the cash and do a Cisco system, but I'm relatively certain that would get shot down by finance. Any recommendations for a couple-hundred-port solution with VLANs, PoE, and QoS? Don't

red-black-green color palette?
I'm working on some heatmaps, and the person I'm working with would prefer a red-black-green color palette (red denoting gene induction and green denoting gene repression). Does such a palette exist already? If not, is there an easy way to create one? Thanks, Jake
