/etc/asterisk/startup.d
Does anybody think it would make sense for /etc/init.d/asterisk to run /etc/asterisk/startup.d/*.sh on start like safe_asterisk did? problem with safe_asterisk
Hi all, I have installed some Asterisk machine, all with the same problem. My typical configuration is: - Asterisk 1.2.14 (or 1.4.0beta3) - CentOS 4.4 server. The problem is this: When I start Asterisk with the default init script (/etc/init.d/asterisk start) distributed with the source, and kill (or kill -9) Asterisk-pid, then safe_asterisk doesn't correctly work (it dies and not restart

asterisk as non-root/best practices
Hi, I have set up asterisk to run as non root, and allow admin users to log in to the server as asterisk, which gives them privileges to edit configs in the asterisk home directory. As for connecting to the console with 'asterisk -r' - this by default does not work as asterisk is owned stored in /usr/sbin/asterisk I am reading that the best way to solve this is to use 'visudo' -

Disable root shell from CLI
Hi, I configured Asterisk to run as "asterisk" user, but I see that a user can anyway get a root sheet using !command in CLI. I understood that it's something related to safe_asterisk and TTY console, but modifying the script safe_asterisk I wasn't able to disable this root access. Can someone help me? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Having problem getting Asterisk to work on CentOS 7
Thank you Tzafrir. I had been using different users in earlier attempts to make this work. Decided to try everything where root is the only user, simply to verify it's working. For problem 2, where asterisk is writing to the log but doesn't seem to receive the SIP packets even though tcpdump indicates they are making it to the box on 5060, I am starting asterisk while logged in as root.

Running safe_asterisk
About two weeks ago there was a thread about asterisk suddenly dying - I posted a response that the same happens to my asterisk about once a month, sometimes more. Someone suggested using 'safe_asterisk' (and get hold of a core dump) which sounds like a good idea, but one thing I can't figure is how to get "module reload app_queue" executed automatically at startup?

What do you do to keep asterisk alive?
I've asterisk stop (presumably segfaulting) a couple of times, and I was just beginning to look at how to keep it running - what have others done? I was thinking of wrapping a script around asterisk like this: while 1 do asterisk -f done /Per Jessen, Z?rich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - your spam is our business.

Run-away Asterisk
After testing some AGI's, I noticed several extra Asterisk processes. They are not zombies, but can't be killed by safe_asterisk. Nor will they die when CLI issues stop now. Then I read that each AGI spawns a separate Asterisk process. But all my AGI calls have apparently completed successfully. So there should be no reason for them to hang there. Several questions: 1) Under

Deleting AstDB family at start
Is it possible to delete the keys belonging to a family in AstDB at Asterisk startup? I would like to repopulate it from another source each time Asterisk is restarted. I know there is a DBdeltree(<family>) function. Is there a context that only runs once (automatically) at Asterisk startup (so that I can call this function)? Also is AstDB lookup faster than a func_odbc lookup? Is there a

Which best practices to build and deploy Asterisk on different hardware ?
Hi, Today I'm building Asterisk using steps like this : http://mikeoverip.wordpress.com/2008/03/29/asterisk-compilation-and-installation-on-debian-etch/ As you can see, the first requirement is to download various dependencies such as gcc, g++. As I'm trying to centralize everything (configuration files, source codes in an SVN repository), I'm wondering if there is a smarter way to

Jumped from 1.2.7 to 1.4.19, missing CLI colors
Hi, I`ve just made a leap from * 1.2.7 to 1.4.19. It took a while to fix all the deprecated stuff, but everything seems to be working fine now, except for a little tiny thing. I lost all color in my CLI, which makes it harder to debug. Is there something that needs doing? I didn't explicitely disable colorization from the command line, and I did try using nocolor=no in the config files.

Hello, I'm rather new to svn, so please, forgive me if this question sounds naive but is it normal that no trunk/ subdirectory is visible in http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/libpri/ ? OT - Avantages of ISDN PtP and PtmP
Hi, Reading http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/bri.html , it seems PtP is the way to connect businesses but if you read http://public.swbell.net/ISDN/connect.html you would think the opposite. Can anyone elaborate a bit PtP or PtmP respective advantages ? Cheers -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Asterisk exit on startup
I'm having a problem with a new installation of asterisk 1.2.5 with a digium dual port T1 (span 1 connected to an outside line, and span 2 connected to a CAC access bank I channel bank with 24 fxs ports). When I start Asterisk (either from safe_asterisk or asterisk -vvvc) it will immediately exit after it initializes. It will start the logger, register applications and functions, register
