Follow-me to my answering machine :-(
Hello asterisk users!
I, like many people, have a cell phone. I also have some SIP phone
devices (software and hardware). I'd like to have one number that
rings all my phones and routes the call to wherever I pick up.
However, my cell phone has its own call forwarding voicemail. I can't
just turn that off, because then direct-to-cell calls wouldn't ever get
to voicemail - that

Safely editing voicemail.conf
We have a problem with Asterisk not locking voicemail.conf for update.
It appears to not protect the file even against itself. It certainly
doesn't use flock() to protect it against others.
This is a problem for several reasons. First, of course, people can be
hand-editing the file to add or remove users. Secondly, automated
programs may be appending data to it for the same purpose.

Voicemail marking messages as Old
It seems to me that simply listening to a new voicemail message will move
the message to the Old folder, without any other user interaction. I'm
working on a voicemail callback queue script and I have wrongly assumed that
messages remain in INBOX unless the user actually saves or deletes them.
I'm running an older 1.2 version of Asterisk.
Is anyone able to confirm the same behavior in

Comedian Voicemail Issues
Hello,
I have set up Comedian Mail on my Asterisk system.
I am using Voicemail not Voicemail2 in my extensions.conf file.
The system works great except for 1 thing...It is not possible to create
custom unavailable or greeting messages for 3/4 voicemail boxes.
For some odd reason 3/4 users are unable to modify the default voicemail
prompt with their own custom greeting. The greeting gets

voicemail.conf from DB
Hi
I have been playing with trying to get voicemail.conf from DB, I am
using cvs-head, but when I start asterisk, it dies a horrible death,
because it cant load any voicemil setting.
I looked at my mysql logs to see what query was being sent, and I get
SELECT category, var_name, var_val, cat_metric FROM voicemail_users
WHERE filename='voicemail.conf' and commented=0 ORDER BY

Voicemail wav49 format problem
I have the voicemail format set to wav49 in my voicemail.conf file.
When retrieving voicemails, the first message plays back ok - but then
Asterisk hangs up and the log shows the following error. Any idea
what's up?

IMAP Voicemail -- HELP! Asterisk not playing Greeting!
I'm using Asterisk 1.4.13, the latest released version. The linux platform
is FC7.
I setup my Asterisk server to use IMAP storage. Dovecot is the IMAP
server. Its storing messages perfectly--no problems.
I should also mention that I'm using MySQL for real-time configuration.
That must be working (at least partially), because I can authenticate v.
the voicemail table.

Voicemail() problems - Long pause after incoming message recording ended.
I'm having the following problem:
I call into my Asterisk box (RedHat Linux 9.0, 1 Digium X100P card)
to access voicemail. After dialing the appropriate extension I get
voicemail, am presented with the user's unavailable message, and can
leave a message normally.
The problem comes when I press "#" to end the recording, at which
point I am told "Your message has been

Voicemail, SQL & ODBC
Is the storage of actual voicemail messages in a database still limited
to ODBC? If so, why?
And is the use of mySQL and ODBC at the same time still a bad idea? If
so, why?
I want to store all of my voicemail stuff in a database so that I can
give users web access to it, but I don't want to run web services on my
* server itself. If it is all in a DB, I can have a web box and a

OT: Blackberry and Asterisk voicemail files.
Hi,
I recently upgraded the firmware on my Blackberry 8700 to 4.2, this
seems to give
it the ability to play wav files.
I wondered if anybody out there had managed to get their BB to play
the wav files as
attached to the Asterisk voicemail emails?
Mine seems to ignore the attachment.
I am using BES 4.1 for sending these emails out via Exchange 2003 if that makes
a difference.
thanks

Asterisk RealTime Voicemail Not Working
I am trying to configure RealTime Voicemail with MySQL. I downloaded
compiled and installed the CVS HEAD for asterisk, and for
asterisk-addons. MySQL seems to be loading correctly (the cdr table
is recording incoming calls). But the RealTime Voicemail doesn't seem
to be checking the database table for the voicemail users. When
trying to login to voicemailMain if I use a user in the

voicemail recording format
Dear asterisk users,
I am presently playing with an asterisk@home. I am trying to find the
best codec solution for my voicemail records. I want to use ARI
(Asterisk Recording Interface) to read the messages. I first used the
default wav encoding that was not appropriate because my navigator does
not handle wav mime types correctly and I have difficulties playing wav
files in my basic linux

Increase VoiceMail Messages Recording Gain - Audio Calls are Ok
Hi all
I'm deploying a VoiceMailserver with Asterisk behind a legacy pbx,
providing Voicemail to email services for Lecagy PBX extensions.
On busy or unanswered calls, Legacy pbx will dial a specific DID (one per
extension) to asterisk, and the call is handled by Voicemail application.
I've several SIP extensions on this Asterisk box, and calls between Asterisk
extensions and legacy PBX

Voicemail Password
Does anyone know of a way to force the voicemail password for users to be of a certain length? We've setup operator=yes within our voicemail.conf and want to have the users use a long password to prevent possible guessing by external parties. I'm not seeing any such option in my research. If it doesn't exist it might be a decent feature. Thanks.

Help with voicemail
Hi list!
My problem: I have three extensions in my Asterisk 1.8.30.0 and they have a
voicemail.
On two of these numbers the voicemail works without any problem, on the other
it doesn't...
I get this error:

Storing voicemail in mysql
Dear friends,
Asterisk's voicemail functions work fine for me, but I am having difficulty
storing the voice messages inside mysql. My real-time CDR recording works
so I assume the odbc connection is fine.
The voicemail.conf I have is :

format = wav
attach = yes
dbuser=root
dbpass=sqlpass
dbhost=localhost
dbname=asterisk
odbcstorage=asterisk
odbctable=voicemessages

Voicemail message is dialtone
Hello all,
I have one Asterisk 1.4.21 system connected to a North American POTS
line. Normally hangup detection works fine, and Asterisk hangs up
properly if you are talking to a caller and they hang up; but
occasionally a call comes in (typically from a US telemarketer) where
the caller hangs up just as voicemail recording is starting, and you
get a voicemail recording of dialtone (then
