Wine doesn't load an application-provided DLL
I'm trying to get SfArk (http://melodymachine.com/) to work under Wine.
Yes, there's a (proprietary) Linux version on the website, but it won't
decompress some files, so I need to use the Windows version.
The installer runs fine, but when it's time to load the program Wine
complains about "lsunpa32.dll". Which I think is strange, since it's
installed along with the

Q about dpi, fonts, gnome, Xorg etc
This has been puzzling me for some time and despite bothering Auntie
Google rather a lot, I've yet to find a satisfying answer.
As an old-time (since 1981) unix and X guy, I've generally been fairly
well-able to get fonts to behave in a rational manner. My needs are
pretty simple - I just want 8-point (or 9-point etc) fonts to appear on
the screen as 8-point font - ie more or less 8 *

It's the same on all resolutions, even on high ones, but I'm legally blind so I have to use 800x600 ~_~
Reinstalling Wine didn't help, completely removing it and reinstalling it didn't do squat, installing some msfont thing didn't do anything either.
anyway, I'm a total noob at this linux thing, the only reason i

winhelp.exe - tiny, unreadable fonts (SOLVED)
The default wine help reader, winhelp.exe, seems to have only a single
font that it will display help files with. Unfortunately, this font
appears really tiny and unreadable on my 1600x1200 screen. And there
seems to be no easy way to change this font without diving in to the
source (which is what I ultimately did).
In what follows I will first describe my unsuccessful attempts to

Bad EXE format for
I'm using Wine 0.9.11~winehq1-1 on Debian Sid.
I've been trying to install IE6 and MS Office 2000 for the last few
days. As a side note, the only way I managed to install IE6 was through
Sidenet. No luck with any other method (reg files, winetools...)
Office 2000 installs, but when I try to run the program it says:

X11 fonts cannot be loaded - SuSE Linux solution
Dear list,
I would like to make a comment how to solve the X11 font problem under
SuSE Linux (9.0) when you get the message:
"X11 font at size 16 could not be loaded".
After having modified /etc/X11/XF86config as root (see below) you have
to run 'SuSEconfig' as root as well else nothing might be changed in the
X-Server.
After that no further messages should appear.

Larger X11 fonts under R-2.1.0
I view plots on my screen with X11(width=.455*11, height=.455*8.5),
which creates a small window with the American standard aspect ratio.
Under R-2.0.1 and earlier, the default fonts were a reasonable size,
but under R-2.1.0 they are too big and fat. I now have to either set
pointsize=10 in X11(), or par(cex=.7) afterwards.
The NEWS file has this to say about X11 fonts:

fonts in eps files
Hi,
I've got a paper ready for publication, but the .eps files I produced
are giving the editor problems. I received the following complaint:
I tried to rasterize the eps files you sent, but I got a warning
message that they contain a font that I don't have. The program
will substitute another font, which can result in different
placement and wrapping of the text as

Fonts are too small in menu bar
Hi.
Is there any chance I can increase the size of my fonts for the applications opened with wine?
My resolution is 1600 x 1050 and the size seems to be from 5 to 6 pixels (or dpi) and it really hurts my eyes.
All my linux apps are just ok at 10 pixels (or dpi)
Thanks in advance

Sans Serif Fonts?
Hi All,
I am preparing a few plots for publication. Unfortunately the journal
requires figures to have all text in a sans serif fonts.
I realise that there is support for the use of Hershey vector fonts in the
function TEXT,
but how do I get the text on axes to be sans serif?
For example, the labels and axis values produced from this line of code:

Fonts and Line widths
Hi All R guru's,
A couple of simple questions which I cannot find answers to in "an
introduction to R" or in the reference manuals.
I am running R on Win95, and have plotted up quite a nice box and
whisker plot:

attach(char)

problem with small fonts
I just downloaded wine-20050725 and compiled it myself under slackware 10.0.
I am not a regular user of wine, but I like to check on it every year or so to see how it is
coming along.
I am having a problem with small fonts in wine. Sometimes the fonts are just right, and sometimes
they are way too small. I can always fix the problem by deleting ~/.wine, forcing wine to create
a fresh default

TINY fonts
Hello there,
am I really the only one, who compiled wine20050211 source,
run wineinstall script, changed [fonts] section in config to match
my dirs (ttf, afm) on my Mandrake 10.1 system AND STILL HAVING ALMOST
UNREADABLE FONTS in applications using standard windows fonts (not its
own)? (I'm not using any M$ stuff, including fonts - just those in
X windows (xfs running)).

Missing fonts for tightvnc
You would think installing via yum would handle dependencies, but
perhaps fonts are not managed like dependencies.....
Anyway, I installed tightvnc to test out its IPv6 support.
Installed ok (after I erased regular vnc). But when I tried to start
it, I got 5 warnings about:
Font directory '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc' not found - ignoring

Problem with a Win16 application fonts
Hi all,
I have a win16 app running. It works ok, but the fonts are almost unreadable. I've tried to change the fonts with winecfg changing the dpi and the options on the Desktop Integration tab, but only the dialogs get changed, the main window doesn't update. I've used winetricks to download all the fonts, but it didn't improve.
Are there any special changed that can be made to
