(to selfjoin the localhost to the domain)
if I have samba3.0.4 running
in ROLE_DOMAIN_PDC and with ldapsam-Backend
and want to use winbindd for ntlm_auth squid authentification?

Hi Achim,
Thanks a lot for your reply.

Well, I am even able to browser the policies via the domain name:
\\ad.cyberdyne.local\sysvol\ad.cyberdyne.local\Policies
Or via hostname:

Really dumb question
Just got dovecot running inside MEPIS 3.3.2 SOHO (debian). I am impressed. It works really well and I am planning to move my mail away from my Win server and access the mail from dovecot using imap. I have copied some folders from my existing Outlook mail system into the imap mail server without any problems....so here is the dumb question: where are the mail files/folders stored on the MEPIS

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Perhaps I am on the wrong track but I would like to share some
additional observations...
I quickly enabled DNS query logging:
# rndc querylog
Then run another gpupdate on the client.
During the Update I see lots of queries:

hostname and smbstatus
Hi,
I'm having problems with seeing the hostname of a Linux box
correctly under Samba with smbstatus.
Background:
I'm running Debian sarge with Samba 3.0.5 on a server that I built. It
sits on our local network behind a Smoothwall firewall, which functions
as a virtual nameserver using our ISP's DNS servers for resolution.
I've been able to set up our Windows machines without

Hello Louis,
Thanks for your reply.

So let's have a look.

Well, it quite clearly states the format is invalid. If I use the the FQDN of
the AD domain it works fine. The DNS search is also including the AD domain as

installing a win software
Hi !
I've been trying hard to install a windows software with WINE.
The name of the software is Distrinet. It's made by AMP (The company
that distribute newspapers in belgium) and that's the only piece of
software I'm forced to use at work under windows. It would be a joy for
me to make it work under linux and be able to delete windows for good.
This software runs fine under

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Even some more observations.
I noticed when I join my machine to AD it prompts a second time for the
credentials. It does not matter what I enter or even cancel the dialog
it will always display an error:
Changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed.
The name will remain "ad.cyberdyne.local".
Well, actualy this is what I want anyway. I found this

64 bit application on 32 bit machine
Yes, that's right! I tried a search, but the (Google) search engine told me that I don't know what I am talking about!
I downloaded an application DfuSe, and tried to install it. Wine installer told me that I needed another program and offered to download. I agreed, but this was unsuccessful. However the Install Wizard went ahead and installed. But trying to run was a failure.
Today, I

Unable to find rdoc for mepis.
I''ve just setup mepis. It comes with 1.8.4. I though it would be easy to
install Rails on it. So, I downloaded the ruby gems. But when I try to
install it using ruby setup.rb. It cannot find Rdoc. I''ve tried apt-get
install rdoc. This gives an ''rdoc not found in repository'' I''m now to
Debian, and could us some help. Where can I get a copy of Rdoc?

Tags Layout
Hi,
When looking into a Flac file with an hexadecimal editor, I observe that the different tags (date, tittle, etc...) are, one time all displayed in capital letters (DATE=), on an other time all displayed in minus letters (date=), or...a mix of both : some tags in capital letters, others in minus letters.
For tagging (and encode/decode) I use the Flac Frontend listed on your site. When testing
