RFD: With echo and other distortion, can ulaw/alaw line quality ever be good enough for faxing?
Folks, I've been following recent discussions regarding echo and echo training with much interest, since it's a problem we've never been able to eliminate here. We're facing two challenges presently, and they may be related (or not): a) Cisco 7960s in the office here echo back to our staff, but the customer hears decent sound. b) We've yet to be able to pass faxes through

Newbie question
I have an ATA-186 in a SIP configuration (following Shawn Djernes how-to), but I get the following error at the asterisk console when I try to call the phone connected to the ATA: ioctl(ZT_LOADZONE) failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device Failed to register zone 'United States / North America': No data available Everything works if I remove indications.conf from /etc/asterisk -

AW: Samba across subnets?
If you don't want to type the ip adress of your samba server every time you connect, add a entry to your local hosts file and lmhosts file. You will find this files (and sample files with extension ".sam") in the windows main directory of Win95 and under "system32/drivers/etc" on WinNT 4.0. Compiling v6tun from KAME
I need vtun working over IPv6. The version from rpmforge does not seem to support IPv6 (binds to 0.0.0.0:5000 if I specify binding to the interface, and won't let me put in an IPv6 address for address binding). So I was pointed to the KAME (which does not provide any FC/RHEL support. The person who sent me there provided a makefile that he said works on Linux, but did not work for me:

[PATCH 0/3] xen: various changes to what we install in /boot

So this series now consists of: xen: allow architecture to choose how/whether to compress installed xen binary xen: x86: drop the ".gz" suffix when installing xen: Use $(T) and $(D) aliases in install target This is based

[PATCH] xen: arm: make zImage the default target which we install
From: Ian Campbell <ian.campbell@citrix.com> The zImage compatible binary is the useful one on real hardware. The relocated ELF thing is only really useful when booting directly on Fast Models. The customary suffix for that case is .axf so provide that as a target. Signed-off-by: Ian Campbell <ian.campbell@citrix.com> Cc: Wookey <wookey@linaro.org> --- xen/arch/arm/Makefile |

Callcentric Issues
Hey, I have a few dids with callcentric. They seem to work fine most of the time but at some points I get "handle_request_invite: Failed to authenticate user <sip:PSTNnumber" This happens intermittently. The way I understand it the insecure=port, invite should tell asterisk not to authenticate users coming from that host. But its not working for some reason. This is my sip.conf

DAHDI
I finally decided it's been long enough using my ancient HP junker and I built a Atom 330 based machine to replace it. I've installed Centos 5, Dahdi and Asterisk 1.6.2. After a bit of struggles getting the 1.2 version files converted to 1.6 almost everything seems to be working. All my SIP lines seem to work and calls come in as expected and all my DAHDI lines work with incoming

Sysinux 6 will not boot ISOs on BIOS (i.e. pre-UEFI) systems
It occured with every BIOS system I tested on (none of them Dell): 1. HP G62 laptop (i3) 2. Samsung RV520 (i3) Don't know what system Philip Muller uses; have copied him in as he has far more technical knowledge than I do. Syslinux tested from Arch and Manjaro (an Arch derivative). Basically found then when creating latest ISO images. I may be missing something as well about the FMs. Just

[LLVMdev] CVS binutils includes support for plugins, can use the llvm plugin.
2009/7/12 Daniel Dunbar <daniel at zuster.org>: > That's pretty awesome! The bfd library (used by ar and nm) already searches for plugins in $install_dir/lib/bfd-plugins/. Maybe we could pass an option to llvm's configure to tell it where

Hi, how would i know what codec is being utilized? currently i have set allow=ilbc disallow=all. i unset all codecs on x-lite except ilbc. i tried to make a call and look at the channel i see these. does this mean it is using ulaw? how about writetranscode? does that mean there is no transcoding happening on the call? call is going thru, rtp is also going thru. what i would like to know is does

Arithmetic Error while compiling R with the Intel compilers
Hi Team, I downloaded the R 3.0.2 and, built and installed it using Intel compilers (icc and ifort) from Intel parallel studio 2013, sp1. After performing make tried to check it using 'make check'. Most of the tests passed successfully but while checking a 'stats' package I saw many lines were printed which did not match the desired output. e.g. There

No rule to make target all.R, needed by compiler.rdb building R 3.4.1 from source, Scientific Linux release 6.9 (Carbon)
Hello, I am trying to build R from source on Scientific Linux release 6.9 (Carbon), Linux version 2.6.32-696.3.2.el6.x86_64 (Red Hat 4.4.7-18). I load the needed modules and run: *./configure --prefix $install_dir --with-blas --with-lapack --enable-R-shlib 2>&1 | tee config-R-$version.log* The "configure" command seems to run ok: *R is now configured for

[PATCH 0/2] Do not use the "red zone" on EFI
From: Sylvain Gault <sylvain.gault at gmail.com> The System V ABI for x86-64 specify that a "red zone" is an area of 128 bytes above the current stack frame. This area can be used by a called function in order to avoid the overhead of modifying the stack pointer. The direct effect is that interrupt/event/signal handlers must not write to this area. In the UEFI calling convention,

[OCAML 0/7] V4 or so of the xen ocaml packaging patches
Here is the latest version of the patches to package the ocaml libraries. Changes since last time: * rename the packages from libxen-4.1-ocaml* to libxen-ocaml* - we wont be looking to install multiple concurrent versions of the same package, so the version doesn't need to be in the package name * Removed superfluous GENCONTROL definitions - dh_ocaml does what we need * Removed

[OCAML 0/7] Xen ocaml library packaging
This is an update to the patches sent out on 25th October. I expect, as before, that some of the larger patches won't get to the list so they are also available here: https://github.com/jonludlam/pkg-xen/commits/for-debian6. Changes since last mail: * I have split out the unrelated change to include 2 extra header files in libxen-dev * I have removed some instances of brace expansion
