problem in installing Internet Explorer6 with SP1 onCentos4.0 through Winetools
Hi Ankush, The reason is very simple - you are booting into the CentOS SMP kernel which is the default. Wine doesnt work properly with the smp kernel. Just boot into the normal kernel (2.6.9-11.EL) and your problem will be solved. Cheers! Can't install IE6
Using wine 0.9.58 on Ubuntu 8.04 Like an idiot, I tried to install IE7 before doing the research to find that IE6 was more ideal with far fewer problems. So after attempting to install IE7 and failing, I tried to install IE6, but in the terminal I get this response after typing wine ie6setup.exe: Warning: the specified System directory L"C:\\windows\\system32" is not accessible. wine:

This is the results of my attempts to install a working wine system on freebsd using winetools. I've downloaded the last wine from ports (0.9.3,1) and the last winetools .tar.gz (0.9joIII). I had to patch the wt0 script because it didn't work on freebsd. Attached you'll find the diff which I strongly encourage to include in the next version of winetoos. I've managed to setup

Internet Explorer and wine 20050930
I've managed to install Internet Explorer 6 using wine-sidenet-config, since it won't work just by type "wine ie6setup.exe". I had to copy the fonts to c:\windows\fonts from a working windows installation, otherwise you won't see the characters. The problem now is that ie can't reach sites like www.google.com. I've read that you should install dcom98 before that,

help with 20050830
I am having some, what I would consider to be, strange problems with this release. Hope someone can clue me in. Nothing about this in Bugzilla. Fedora core 4, wine compiled from tarball download. Did ./tools/wineinstall, added /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf; /sbin/ldconfig executing winecfg gives: err:wave:OSS_WaveOutInit open(/dev/mixer1) failed (No such file or directory)

NAT and Wine
How can I configure my Wine setup to be able to connect through my router consistantly? I mean that certain apps, notably ie6setup.exe seem to see the lan, but not be able to look any further. Am I overlooking something? Thanks -- If you wrestle in the mud with a pig. you both get dirty, and the pig likes it. -- Dave Dawson
