Idea: WineLib based Window Manager
Here's a thought that just hit me out of the blue; what if there were a winelib based window manager / desktop environment? It would be possible to use the wine look and feel to craft a familiar looking and fast environment in which users can run their legacy Windows apps and feel at home. At the same time, the Programs menu could even be tied in to .wine/drive_c/Program Files Just an idea,

wow! and what about h/w players for vorbis files?
wow! i must say vorbis deprecates mp3! lol. although, i had to use the "OSS/3d for XMMS" plugin on my sblive value w/ 4 point sound to get a proper base. On my other box with a diff card, bass is just fine. however, are there any h/w players for vorbis files? the faq only states one manufacturer called iObjects but i see no portable players! Basically, i want to player vorbis files

squares instead of font characters since wine-0.9.13
do you know why when running wine-0.9.13 and all later versions of wine, finale displays squares instead of font characters and when running wine 0.9.12 everything displays ok? I have checked with wine versions that I have compiled from source on mandrake 10.0. The wine directory was left without any changes. thanks Piotr -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

VMs XML difinitions can't be recognized after upgrading to libvirt 0.9.13
I used to run many VMs on my Ubuntu 10.04 box. However, after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10 (and thus, libvirt 0.9.13), The VMs can't be recognized anymore. Nothing appears in the output of 'virsh list --all', nor in virt-manager. When I created a new VM based on a disk image of one of the not-recognized-any-more VMs, a new schema file has been auto-generated, and the new VM now is

Wine patches
Dear developer friends, Is there a chance to have daily patches to wine from CVS. Is too hard to wait a month for a big patch. Also, at my job I don't have access to open connections to anything than proxy, so CVS is not a solution. kind regards, Claudiu Costin ****************************************************************************** The information contained in this communication

Oops on 2.4.13 w/ ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413
Hello, We have about 20 - 30 embedded machines running Linux 2.4.13, which the ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413 patch applied. These are PowerPC 7410 based systems. I am getting reports of Oops happening either during removes (rm's), or coppies (cp's). Most reports state that issuing the same command once the system boots back up, does not cause it to crash. I guess its something else leading up

Any chess players here?
The Internet Chess Club, launched a new chess interface in August. Besides being a terrific client for connecting and playing chess on ICC, it has a built-in chess engine with 14 personalities from beginner to GM's that you can play off-line. You can also add-in other chess engines. If you try it, I'm sure you'll agree it is one of the best chess clients available. It is now at

Want to help Wine project?
This message is for those who wants to help Wine project but do not know where to start. We need contributors of a wide range of skills. The minimal requirements are: access to a computer with Linux (or other Unix-like system) where you can use Wine. We have a lot of tasks which are relatively easy to do. The fact that these tasks are easy does not mean they are not important. Examples of the

How can I make sVirt work with LXC (libvirt-0.9.13)?
?Hi, ?I've installed libvirt-0.9.13 on RHEL6.2 from the source code. I cannot make sVirt working with LXC. (sVirt works well with KVM, though.) I can start an LXC instance, but the label of the process is not right. Can someone help me? I tried to change /etc/libvirtd/lxc.conf file to explicitly enable security_driver = "selinux". But it ends up with error saying "error :

Steam nearly nearly nearly works
Hi! I'm finding that while Valve's Steam nearly works perfectly, I can only sometimes successfully actually connect to online games. For example, in "Counter-Strike: Source", when I select a server from the list, the game loads right up to the point where it says "Sending Client info" and it hangs. I'm sure it's only a tiny tiny thing, and very occasionally,
