DDE problems
Hi! I started using wine (wine-20020122 compiled from source tarball) a couple of weeks ago to run a store-point-of-sale application. The idea is to port this windows application to linux. Before porting, we decided to check if the app could be emulated on linux with wine or recompiled with winelib. This is also necessary to run proprietary windows DLLs from third parties such as credit card

html rendering and gecko on a winmx install wine 1.1.11
opensuse 11.2 64 bit I have downloaded and compiled/installed wine 1.1.11, so that I may use a windows program called WinMX 3.54b4 [32 bit] on my linux opensuse distro. I had been advised that Wine versions higher than this do not work well with WinMX. At the end of the compile it tells me that libgphoto2-32bit was not found and that cameras won't work. I check in Yast2 to see if it can

Info Select 1.0 screen problem
Hi, I'm running Info Select for Windows 1.0 (yeah, ancient) in Wine (0.9.34 at present). It works fine except for one odd thing. Info Select has windows within its screen for notes. If one of those is in the open mode for text input, and I go to a different KDE desktop, when I come back the whole terminal window in which Info Select is running becomes filled by the video content of that

ThunkConnect32 Failure!
Greetings, I have tried to get IE5.5 & 6 running on Wine under FreeBSD 5.3. When I try to install DCOM98.EXE using Joachim's WineTools, it asks me "OK to install DCOM98 for Windows 98?" <Yes> Then I get the "Please read the following license agreement..." dialog <Yes>. Then I get a "ThunkConnect32 Failure!" message. Any idea why? BTW I

Salvage old data?
For years, I could install, and sometimes run, legacy private map software under Wine. But in order to connect it with my GPSs, I had to keep a separate hard drive with XP, and do that there. Then came a brief time when I could also actually make my Garmin GPSs talk with the software under Wine. I transferred all my data to it, and gleefully wiped XP off my machine. Then the connecting

wineboot not working as expected
I'm trying to install "Microsoft Digital Image 9", and the very first thing it does is configures a few files then immediately prompts the user it's going to reboot. I press "Ok", and it then does what it just did, and pops up the same message. This can continue forever. So, I decided to try to press "Ok", then immediately enter in "wineboot".

Does "Adding Test Data" need a clean up
Yesterday I finished providing the test data for about 10 games I started testing about a month ago. What I noticed while adding the test data is the amount of version of distributions and the amount of version for each. In my case I am using Ubuntu 11.10 but I want to make a point here that this applies to all other distributions that appear in the list. My post is for versions that are so very

Re: Can Garmin's (MapSource) USB map-card reader be used in Wine?
Hello, I tried to install Mapsource 6 in Wine (20050211.2) on MDK LE2005 but it didn't install... The same with GIDroute which installed but didn't want to be launched. I will give it a try on MDV 2006 but I don't expect a miracle. And the pseudo map applications for Linux are not really what we can consider as useful and easy to handle with... Site badges / certification?
There may have been a topic like this already, but I tried all the search terms I could think of and didn't come up with anything. Apologies if this has been answered before. Is there a badges that makers of Windows software can put on their site that show the WINE compatibility rating with their software? I just had a mental image of people putting a badge with a link to their
