Virtual or Hardware SIP Modem
Hi, I have just gotten my first Asterisk box up and running, and it is running great. I am working on this project with the plans of possibly implementing it in a business environment. The problem I am coming up against is that the business I am planning on implementing this setup in is using some legacy software which requires a modem to communicate with energy management systems. My question is

Tried to load a theme, didn't work. No error message.
I searched every wine forum and wiki I could find, but there's no information on wine theming. I downloaded an *.msstyles file, and opened it with winecfg (Desktop Integration->Install theme...). Nothing changed. The style I selected didn't even get added to the list - the only option is still "(No Theme)". There was no error message. wine 0.9.8 This is the style I tried:

Config file for 'make menuselect' available?
Hi all, Was curious to if for the 'make menuselect' command, there's a config file hiding someplace that lets me quickly move a configuration to a new source tree (much like .config in the kernel trees). I looked around after running menuselect and compiling, but none of the files stood out as config files, so I thought I'd put the question to the list. Thanks!, --Josh

chan_h323 and menuselect dependencies problem
Hello List, I've been trying to compile Asterisk with H.323 support and, after correctly installing PTLib and H323plus (OpenH323), the Asterisk configure script still doesn't detect the dependencies as installed. I know they are correctly installed because after going into "[asterisk-source-directory]/channels/h323" and issuing a 'make opt', it correctly builds

Change in menuselect handling of sound files (in 1.6.1.X)
Hi, Between 1.6.1.9 and 1.6.1.18, handling of menuselect has changed in such a way that I cannot script non-english sound files downloading anymore. The following used to work (unattended) with 1.6.1.9 (for instance): cd /usr/src/asterisk-${ASTERISK_VERSION} ./configure make menuselect.makeopts echo "MENUSELECT_CORE_SOUNDS=CORE-SOUNDS-EN-GSM CORE-SOUNDS-FR-GSM" >

CM for menuselect choices
I'd like to be able to save the choices made in menuselect in a way that they can be tracked in a CM system and applied to a later release of Asterisk using an automated tool like Ansible. What's the best way to do that?

Asterisk and Cisco Call Manager Express (CME)
I was thinking about complicating my Voip setup by adding CME. I found this example here: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Cisco+CallManager+Express+Integration and here: http://www.pasewaldt.com/cme/cme_index.htm Would anyone like to comment on their experiences using CME with Asterisk... I would like one of my Cisco phones to remain SIP connected directly to my Asterisk system. The

How to create new rails 1.1 app if only rails 1.0 installed?
I have rails 1.0 and I cannot install rails-1.1 system-wide. However, I can freeze_edge (but just once because of svn 1.1.4 on Debian). Under this scenario, how can I create brand new rails-1.1 apps? I know how to freeze_edge *existing* rails-1.0 apps but that process seems to be imperfect because the script/about command and /rails/info/properties URL do not work after freezing to 1.1.0

Cook-distance-type plot (vertical bars)
Hi, Figure 13 of Emmanuel Paradis's "R for Beginners" was produced by termplot working on an aov object. The lower right-hand plot is labelled "Cook's distance plot", and I'd really like to produce a similar type of figure, but in a totally different context. (I'm not even sure what this kind of figure is called, perhaps an "impulse plot", where
