Getting caller-name - cid_rewrite 1.0.0
Hi folks, I think my little agi script is ready for the big one-oh-oh. Available at http://muware.com/asterisk is cid_rewrite-1.0.0. This agi-script does the following: - Standardize incoming caller-id numbers to adhere to US dialing code; NANPA numbers are reformatted to 1+10, international numbers become 011<country-code><number> (this is customizable with a little PHP knowledge).

AGI Script for CID Rewrite and CID Name lookup
I recently changed to all IAX providers for my DIDs, and none of them offer incoming caller-names. Back in the days when I did have incoming caller names, I found the names provided by the various phone-companies fairly useless -- "WIRELESS CALLER", "YOURCITYHERE" etc. Last Friday I finally set off to roll my own, in order to meet the following requirements: - uniformely

LiveVOIP - I win :)
A few months ago, the friendly folks from liveVOIP went under. We had some discussion on how to limit our losses, and my recommendation was a chargeback, since "FTTP Services" -- their CC merchant -- wasn't affected by the bankruptcy, as far as we could tell. Today, I received this from my CC company: http://muware.com/asterisk/livevoip.pdf Anyone else got lucky?

CallerID Name with IAX Providers
I am pretty sure that there are no IAX providers that offer CallerID name but wanted to double check with the list in case something has changed recently. Is anyone aware of an IAX provider that offers incoming CallerID name? Is there a technical limitation within IAX which is preventing IAX providers from offering CallerID Name? Why is no one offering this? -------------- next part

Outlook contacts -> Asterisk database (LookupCIDName)
Is it possible in any way to use an Outlook contacts database as the source for the internal Asterisk database that is used for callerid lookups? Thanks!

Meetme codec translation and callerID library.
Can Meetme be made to work with G.729? (I gather not) If a call comes in (internally or externally), the call comes in as a G.729 call, which then re-negotiates to a G.711u call when if gets transferred to a MeetMe room. Is there a way to set up asterisk that will allow me to have internal phones renegotiate to G.711, with the external lines instead transcoding within asterisk. (runtime is more

CallerID name lookup AGI script
Hi all, My VoIP provider (race.com) doesn't send name info with CallerID, so I wrote an AGI script that does the following: 1) If it's a toll free number (800|888|877|866), set the CallerID name to "TollFree Caller" 2) Use curl to look up the number in Google phonebook 3) If a business listing, set the CallerID name to business name, as is. 4) If it's a residential

SIP "unphones"
Does anyone know if there are additional SIP devices out there which aren't phones? I'm basically looking for a fully-automatic SIP speakerphone. I'd like to be able to dial a sip-extension and make an announcement (PA) and/or simply listen in to a room (baby-monitor). Yes, I know, some of the more advanced phones can be configured to behave like that, but it seems to a waste of

Improving Asterisk's DNS support
Hello everyone, After several years of using Asterisk I have always been frustrated by the support for DNS. I have seen all kinds of strange behavior when Asterisk is used on a system with "iffy" DNS servers: - no failover to other DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf (might be a C library thing) - chan_sip will sometimes mark even local SIP peers as unreachable during/after any DNS

create list of names where two df contain == values
Hello again... sorry to be posting yet again, but I hadn't anticipated this problem. I am trying to now put the names found in one column in data frame 1 (lets call it df.1[,1]) in to a list from the rows where the values in df.1[,2] match values in a column of another dataframe (df.2[3]) I tried to write this function so that it put the list of names (called Iffy) where the 2 criteria

Newbie on IVR
Hi, I get fascinated when I dial someone and get an IVR play " for accounts department press 1, for sales, press 2 or hold the line for an operator" and then have MOH play before the line is picked up at the desired extesion. Please, permit me as I know this will be one of the dumbest questions to ask in a group like this. I'll apprecaite any specific guide/instruction. Thanks

multiline, cordless, expandable phone system and asterisk message waiting
Basically, pretty much all the 2 line cordless systems I've seen come with a built in digital answering system that I'll never use, the main problem with this is that these units don't support VMWI (visual message waiting indicator) with telco supplied voicemail. This is a problem because I'll be setup an Asterisk system in the next month or so to handle my 2 analog and 1

DIDs anywhere but here?
Are there affordable DIDs (preferably IAX) available anywhere outside the US? I want to use it to meet ICANN requirements for providing a valid phone number, yet pre-empting some of the telemarketing calls my domain registrations generate. (Yes, I asked a similar question about 900# availability before). I'd prefer to have a number somewhere outside the NANP, preferably an asian country.

Special Delivery from China
I received a sample IP/Speakerphone from my friends in China today. Asterisk setup was fairly uncomplicated and I had it running as an extension on my server within a few minutes. Sounds quality of both the receiver and the speakerphone are fine (wife's opinion). Are there any tests I should run with this phone? Following are the specs: - Single line appearance - Alpha display, 2x16 chars -

GSM phones, bluetooth and general happiness
When I installed my first home-PBX three years ago, I was looking at "cellsockets" -- devices which will accept certain cellular phones and provide an RJ11 jack, generating the ring-voltage and recognizing DTMF, which in turn makes your cell-phone look like a CO line. Pretty cool stuff, in theory, but it just didn't seem to be worth the cost, especially since it locks you to a

"In general you can match callerID with the /, but if you don't put anything after the /, then the rule matches "no caller*ID", and if no slash is there at all, it matches "any callerid". Bandwidth, again, can someone check my math?
I want to put a single voice-mail box on a remote server, where I have metered bandwidth. Before I do this, I want to make sure it's feasible. Could someone confirm the following math for me? G.711, at 64kpbs has a rated network load of 88kbps. So for each second of conversation, about 11KB are crossing the wires in each direction. That means for a minute of two-way conversation, 1.3MB

Sixtel is still alive?
Whoa, talk about flying under the radar. I got a few DIDs *months* ago from Sixtel (or iax.cc). Initial respone was great, but then it seemed that the only tech-support person had fled the country. No responses, bad responses, poor call-quality. I had a few $s left in the balance and kind-a just forgot about them. Not worth 10 minutes of my time to get $10 of my money back, quite frankly.

strange interaction between rasterImage and Grid graphics
Dear all, This may be specific to Mac, I haven't had a chance to test another platform. Consider this, plot(1,1,t="n") rasterImage(matrix(1),1,1,1,1) library(grid) grid.rect(gp=gpar(fill="grey")) The grid.rect covers the full device window as expected. However, when I resize the window ever so slightly (interactive device) the rectGrob is suddenly clipped to the previous
