Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features
with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end
phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to
telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a
development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are
so obscure.
There seems to be a fair amount

BLF on Cisco 7970
Hello All,
I've been trying to get BLF working with Asterisk 1.6-LatestBeta, and My
Cisco 7970 (Latest SIP Firmware).
Has anyone successfully completed this?
I got the patch to merge in from
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Presence+for+Cisco+79x1+Phones
With a bit of hackery to that code, it successfully compiled chan_sip for
me.
So, With 1.6 we have TCP Enabled on Asterisk,

Cisco IP Phones - FYI
Just attended the Cisco Networkers conference and sat through a
presentation addressing in part the Cisco IP phones. All was presented
openly without the need for disclosures, etc.
The following is simply an FYI from the presentation, FWIW.

Cisco 7961 + 7914, speeddials, BLF & Asterisk 1.4?
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with a Cisco 7961 + 7914 Operator
Console setup and speeddials/BLF on Asterisk 1.4? Would appreciate
feedback if this works reliably. I have a 7961 on skinny registering on
an 1.4.19 box with chan_sccp and speeddials work fine so that part seems
ok. I have no experience with the BLF part.
>From googling around it seems that BLF on the 7914 only works with

Cisco 7911/7941/7970/7971 Softkey XML Files
Hello List,
Does anyone have access to the soft key configuration files for the
Cisco 7911/7941/7970/7971 phones? Checked up on the Cisco site and
didn't find much up there.
Thanks

Cisco 79x1 Auto-Answer
I'm using a mix of Cisco 7960, Linksys SPA-942, Cisco 7961, Cisco 7970
phones in a paging group. I have all the phones set up with an extra
line that auto answers the dial from my paging extension when the
primary line is not in use. All of these are operating correctly however
the 7961/7970s all ring once and then auto answer so the person paging
all the phones has the first part of his

Cisco 7970 SIP upgrade issues
Dear Asterisk People,
I am having problems putting a SIP image on a 7970. I was wondering if anyone can help?
First problem is the phone is running version
Load IDJar70.2-5-47-17.sbn
Boot Load ID7970_64054100.bin Version5.0(0.6S)
So I did read that you couldn't simply put the latest SIP image on such an old phone and a newer firmware version should be used.
I got

NEWS: SIP Firmware Available for Cisco 7970
I've just recieved a copy of the new SIP firmware for the Cisco 7970,
those of you with Cisco accounts may wish to try it (shock horror I'm
sticking with SCCP).
This coincides with the release of v8 firmware for all Cisco phones (and
for those of you running Sergio's chan_sccp v8 works fine)
The firmware is now also (and for the 7970 SIP, only) distributed in
".cop" files,

Extension Mobility with Asterisk and Cisco 79x1 phones
Hi.
I'm trying to develop a module that emulates
the Cisco Extension Mobility feature from CallManager
(the ability to log in to a phone and temporarily
acquire the extension, soft key programming, and all
other settings for that user profile)
with Asterisk 1.4 and Cisco 79xx phones
(some with SIP and some with SCCP, as the 7914
extension module does not support SIP).
I've almost

Anyone had a Cisco 7970 working with
Yes, but the 7970 relies on the very latest SCCP protocol version which was
introduced with Call Manager 4.0. As far as I know the SCCP module for
Asterisk doesn't support the latest SCCP version so I don't think it will
work. The 7960 works with the older versions of SCCP. I have yet to hear
of anyone getting the 7970 to work with *. If someone has please update

Asterisk (1.4) and hints/presence/BLF
Playing with hints/presence/BLF on asterisk I've made the following
"discoveries".
1. The wiki at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+presence says:
"If you add incominglimit=1 to your peer in sip.conf, the SIP
channel will notify you when that extension is busy."
As "incominglimit" is obsolete you can use "call-limit".

SIP NOTIFY to make linksys/cisco SPA BLF go yellow
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone stumbled upon the correct event in a sip
NOTIFY (from a SUBSCRIBE)
to make the BLF lamps on a Linksys/Cisco SPA9xx/5xx go yellow?
I'm trying to differentiate between "On the Phone" and "DND" with the BLF.
Thanks.

cisco 7970 sccp
Does anyone have the 7970 work with sccp?
I have used the example configurations from the wiki.
I can see that the phone is failing to retrieve the
CTLSEP<MAC>.tlv file and then is able to retrieve the
SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml file. The phone is hanging with the
message "updating ctl".
Thanks,
John

rebooting newer cisco phones
Does anyone have a solution for remotely getting the newer cisco phones
(7941, 7961, 7970, etc ) to reread their configs (or even rebooting). I am
running SIP firmware connected to asterisk.
Check-sync doesn't seem to work anymore, I can't login to the phones as root
because I am given a "challenge: <random digits>password:" prompt.

Cisco 7970 + New Firmware (8.2)
Hi All,
Found out Cisco has some newer firmware available for the 7970 series
of phones. New sip images are at version level 8.2 (instead of
8.0.2,8.0.3,8.0.4), posted Dec 10, 2006. This major jump in version
numbers has fixed a few bugs (time zone not updating properly), but
hasn't figured what some would consider to be showstoppers

Cisco 7961 new firmware stops reading configuration files
Hello,
I have been running SIP41.8-2-2SR4S firmware on the Cisco 7961 and have
recently upgraded to SIP41.8-3-2SR1S to add the DND button on the front
of the phone and also to hopefully resolve some issues with the phones
not registering after a long period.
Once we upgraded the phones now display "Error Verifying Config Info" in
the Status messages and will not process the

Having problems with BLF
Hi,
I'm having a problem getting a snom 300 to work with BLF (extension
222). I've set it to watch extension 220 in the function key config
pages as per the wiki (BLF, <sip:220 at server.com>) but I can't get the
light to come on when 220 is ringing. The SIP trace page doesn't show
anything coming from my PBX when 220 is ringing or in use. Any help
much appreciated as this
