Semi-OT Part 2: Videophone
Following the recommendations here I've ordered a couple different Polycom & Aastra phones to play with speaker phones. One of our next big projects is Video. I know Grandstream has a video phone, has anyone used it. Anyone have any other recommendations? Windows Filesharing Limitations
I've been trying to set up a server to fileshare to mac and windows clients using Netatalk and Samba. Basic setup and functionality works, but we have two lingering problems, both on the windows clients: - can't change the user field - can't change the group field The windows client permissions dialog allows you to change it, but once you close and reopen it, the changes are gone.

SAMBA Filesharing Issue
Can anybody help with this issue: My question regarding SAMBA is: we use the file sharing capability from a Windows workstation to a UNIX machine. When we copy files from the workstation to the UNIX box, UNIX places an end of line character in the file that we don't want there. Is there a way to avoid this (a way to tell SAMBA to do a straight ASCII copy)? We don't have this problem when

Softphone to be installed on the Mobile
Hi All; Is there a softphone that can be installed on a mobile (new mobile models), so it can work with Asterisk as following: 1) As SIP or H323 client, with the ability to add button functionalities (call pickup, call transfer, ...) so if there is a wireless network, then it can use it to connect to Asterisk and work as client, but from the Mobile. 2) If there is no wireless network, then it

Please help test the gender detection moduleat 575-613-4392
Thanks for the feedback. I did some research and it looks like you were calling over international lines. It also appears that there was high than average static on the line, which is not normal for my system. It's true that I threw my recordings together quickly and the beep was supposed to be funny - it was actually me saying "beeeeeep". However, the static and noise you received

Call log reveals redundant calls!
Hi, all-- What do you make of this? Here's my call log--looks like there are a lot of calls going in and out of the server that are not real incoming or outgoing calls. Display on OptiPoint400std SIP
Hi all, I have some OptiPoint400 standard SIP connected on Asterisk. They work pretty good. I only notice that calling from OptiPoint to OptiPoint doesn't show me the Caller ID name (only Caller ID number). But calling from an OptiPoint to a SoftClient (e.g X-Lite) shows me both on the softclient. Any ideas? Thx! sip.conf [2005] type=friend callerid="OptiPoint" <2005>

getting files and ACLs from a fileshare in Python
Hi, I am weighing Python for an application which needs to connect to a fileshare, to index the documents and also to retrieve the ACLs. Is there an equivalent of the Java libjcifs in Python? Given that the application will be running on Windows, what is the best way to use the win32 API from Python? If the application is running on Linux, I might be better off simply mounting the share. QuickBooks Installation Failure
I have a Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) PC running Wine 1.0-rc4 and am attempting to install QuickBooks Premier 2007 for a customer who hates Vista and will switch to Linux if I can get this to work. However, the install program keeps failing. QuickBooks insists on having .NetFrame 1.1 installed but always fails when it tries to install it. So, I did a rm -rf ~/.wine to start fresh and then installed

connection problem to fileshare for a certain user
sambalog.txt <http://samba.2283325.n4.nabble.com/file/n4699851/sambalog.txt> Hi, I use samba for a long time, and didn't touch the config since. A while ago i did a debian update to jessie, because i was way behind with updates on wheezy. Samba got probably also a big jump in version. Since then i have connection problems for my default user that connects to the samba server shares.
