polycom ip330/ip501 second ethernet port
Hi,
Has anyone had any great difficulties with QoS using the second ethernet
phone in these Polycom phones for desktop machines in a converged
network? I had heard that these can cause difficulties when used in
this manner. I have always tried to persuade customers to go with 2
ethernet drops per workstation to avoid having to use the phone as a
switch.
I apologize for this question not being

asterisk at non-root / zaptel
Hi,
In the 2nd edition of the Asterisk book, there is a section recommending
running asterisk as non-root - tried this and it works. However,
asterisk does not have permissions to view certain files relating to
zaptel as in the following 'zap show status' command in the * CLI
What would be the best way to get round this, in terms of reliability
and security? Is there a way to allow the

asterisk as non-root/best practices
Hi,
I have set up asterisk to run as non root, and allow admin users to log
in to the server as asterisk, which gives them privileges to edit
configs in the asterisk home directory.
As for connecting to the console with 'asterisk -r' - this by default
does not work as asterisk is owned stored in /usr/sbin/asterisk
I am reading that the best way to solve this is to use 'visudo' -

MSSQL ODBC Connections
Hi all,
The asterisk book states the following for using ODBC to connect to an
MS database.
? The pooling and limit options are quite useful for MS SQL Server and
Sybase databases. These permit you
to establish multiple connections (up to limit connections) to a
database while ensuring that each connection
has only one statement executing at once (this is due to a limitation

PSTN failover
Hi,
Does anyone have any advice in how to implement PSTN failover should an
internet connection for IAX trunking go down? to route outbound to
analog lines
Can this be written into the dialplan using a GotoIf statement by
testing the whether the internet connection is up, or from a IAX/SIP
response?
Thanks

ODBC connection to Microsoft SQL Server
Hi,
I wish to integrate a Microsoft SQL server with Asterisk for CDRs and
for dialplan routing based on database values, and have this application

[LLVMdev] [Fwd: Updated LLVM Visual Studio project files]
Hi Jeff,
I'm just reviewing some old mail on my "to do" list. I was wondering if
you managed to get ltdl.c to compile cleanly with VC++ or if you want me
to look at these warnings.

Well, then why does win32/DynamicLibrary.cpp exist, not to mention it's
*nix relatives? You have even been updating them, even though they
cannot be compiled as they aren't included by System/DynamicLibrary.cpp.
Anyway, with Morten's patches I can almost build successfully. Minor
patch attached to fix the residual problems. I don't know why he didn't
hit these problems.

[LLVMdev] Memory leaks in LLVM
Hi,
Probably some of the leaks Valgrind reports are spurious, but the numbers

func_odbc - trouble
Hello,
we are migrating an Asterisk install from Trixbox/Asterisk 1.2 to Elastix
0.92 with asterisk-1.4.17 on CentOS 5. I need to migrate an funtion that
consults a remote sybase database, using ODBC and freetds. On the new
server I am able to connect to the database using isql without problems.
When I try to connect from asterisk logs show:
pbx.c: Function ODBC_SQL not registered
Indeed I

this purpose. I have been reading the voip-info pages and have set up
AJAM and can get results from doing http requests to the asterisk
server, however, this is in the form of an action, such as login,
rather than subscribing to an event.
I have been looking here for information

Does anyone know if subscriptions is possible with AJAM?

[LLVMdev] [Fwd: Updated LLVM Visual Studio project files]
ltdl.h fully supports windows platforms (lots of them). That isn't the
issue. The issue is setting up the #defines to reflect the windows
system. e.g. HAVE_DLOPEN needs to be false

ltdl.c is part of libtool that is supposed to BE the cross-platform
dynamic linker interface. However, for platforms it doesn't really
support, using custom code makes perfect

GCC bug affects playback?
Hey Oggers,
I have a RedHat 7.1 machine at home, and a 6.2 system at work.
After seeing Monty's announcement of the GCC optimize bug, I compiled
my ogg-tools package at home with RedHat's 2.96 gcc (the errata
version, not the original buggy version). I have no problems playing
encoded ogg files on my home machine--they sound great.
At work, I have the binary RPMs from vorbis.com,
