Treating T1 as trunk in/out, not individual lines
I'm tying a Nortel option 61 to asterisk via T1. I don't want to split each of the t1 channels out into individual lines (tied to a specific extension) - so a trunk in and out. Assuming PRI over T1 signaling, how would I pass the CALLED and CALLER info across the channels so each side knows what to do? Is there something in the PRI protocol you can point me to for figuring this out?

Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 33, Issue 12
I too was curious about this, so I copied the text into Babel Fish, and this is the result: I miss of the 2/04/2007 to the 11/04/2007. I will answer your message as of my return. For any urgency, to contact Emmanuelle Parache Moga or C?dric Buzay. If this guy is really going to be out until November these messages will get rather tiresome... Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: whatcable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
The "telco guys" probably did something non-industry standard and reversed send and receive in the jack that they plugged the CAT5 into. Sure it works, sure it is easier, sure it is not the correct way of doing things. Royalty for On Hold Music ?
Hi, Is there any Royalty one needs to pay when using the inbuilt exisimg asterisk on hold music or when using any other mp3 from a music album. I think we need to pay for the later, but I am not sure if we need to pay for the inbuilt asterisk(freepbx) on hold music. -- Deepak --------------------------------- Yahoo! Hardware that can ring my phone?
Hello, I am a small business owner in need for a solution that automatically answers an incoming call, prompts the caller via touch-tone menu ("press 1 to leave a message, press 0 to speak to a representative") and will ring my (real) phone ONLY if requested by caller. I know that Asterisk is capable of all the logic behind what I described above. However, I couldn't find a

Can't restart asterisk from script
I'm running * 1.4 and can successfully restart asterisk from the command line with: /usr/sbin/asterisk -r -x "restart gracefully" However, I have a cron job that tries to restart asterisk and gets this error: No such command 'restart gracefully' (type 'help restart gracefully' for other possible commands) Can anyone think of why this is happening? Thanks

T1 to SIP conversion, standalone device
Over a year ago I saw a discussion about a standalone device which converted a T1 in/out to SIP in/out (over 10/100 LAN). Anyone recall what this device is? (I'm looking for a standalone device - not a PCI card). Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
I was once told by a lineman that the cables they use didn't have that many twists in them because it wasn't needed, and that the extra twists would effectively use more cable and thus cost and weigh more than triple what they do now. He told me that with the number of twists in the Cat 5 cable it would cancel out any interference, but he also stated that the effective length was

At Sangoma we do quite a lot of back-to back T1 and E1 connections. T1 is not a very fussy connection, as the baud rate is only about 750 kbps. In our experience, for error free communications you can use the following rules of thumb: Up to 50 ft: Flat patch cable Up to 500 ft: Ordinary twisted telephone cable Cat 5 may be overkill unless you are going hundreds of feet. Can't get sangoma A102D setup on asterisk
I have a new Sangoma A102 and I'm trying to get it running in asterisk. A look through the dmesg log shows the card is detected and the various channels created. However, when I start asterisk I get the error below. Any ideas? My zapata.conf is below. Can't anyone stop self-promotion and tell the poor guy what he needs. A T1/E1 X-over cable using an RJ-45 (8-cond.) is pinned out as follows: 1 - 4 2 - 5 3 - NU 4 - 1 5 - 2 6 - NU 7 - NU 8 - NU NU = Not Used I have not in my experience seen any problems with using a Good Quality Cat5 vs. Cat 3 (telco standard) cable for X-connects. YMMV, but you should be fine. As far as the shielding

Audio problems on cable modem link
We have a small office installation running over a cable modem. (8M down, 500k up confirmed with numerous speed test sites) When a single call is up, call quality is fine. When a second call is up, outbound audio is immediately choppy. We're using ulaw, and confirmed that traffic with 2 calls is <175kbps in/out. (IAX connection out) Asterisk doesn't report any dropped frames, the

Need to run ztcfg manually?
I have a new asterisk system with a T1 card. It appears that running "ztcfg -vv " is required in order for asterisk to start properly. Is this correct? Are people adding this command to the asterisk startup script? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
My telco used cat5 as well for the demarc to CPE. It's also with noting that many channel banks, such as my Atlas, and zapata.conf itself also have parameters to allow you to tune the gains to compensate for cable signal loss. I've never had to touch them, and my CPE is about 300 feet from the PRI demarc (with an ordinary Cat5 cable connecting them)

php agi - first phrase truncated, all others fine
I have the following code. When I call the extension, it either ignores the first "Hello there everyone", or says "hello" and moves on sometime stoping before it finishes hello. The rest of the text reads fine. Anyone else have this issue?? Thanks! require('/var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/phpagi.php'); $agi = new AGI(); $agi->answer();
