Internet threat management package
... Looking for a recommendation for a commercial threat management
package. ( Think antivirus / antispy / anti-rootkit -- all rolled into
one engine ), similar to this product:

which currently only supports one kernel for FC6, and RHEL4, officially.
Here's the background. Need to make a decision and investment for a

explorer freezes on right-clicking .exe's
I'm using samba 2.1 pre-alpha. When I right click an .exe file on the
most shares, explorer freezes, and must be killed to recover. The
problem doesn't show up on the home shares, but appears on any other
shares I create. I've experienced this problem on many different
workstations. Looking at the logs, it seems to be a problem with
oplocks; the part of the log that seems to apply is

running a .EXE
I have two computers with wine installed. The first is a Fedora Core 6
with all updates running wine-0.9.25. The second is a RHEL4 with
wine-0.9.27 compiled from source (./configure, make, make install). In
both cases I have a dual-boot partition with a WindowsXP NTFS, and I can
install and run ntfs-3g with no problem.
In the first system, I can navigate to the location of NOTEPAD.EXE and

Optimising the Rsync algorithm for speed by reverting to MD4 hashing
Hi,
From v3.0.0 onwards the hash function implemented by Rsync was changed from MD4 to MD5 (http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/src/rsync-3.0.0-NEWS). My understanding is that MD5 is a more secure, slower version of MD4 but I am not convinced that the added security of MD5 would alone have merited the change from MD4 (particularly since MD4 is ~30% faster than MD5). I wonder if I am missing other

I don't know whether it's wise to release the FTP-location
I would recommend everyone to just look over their daemons, and run
something like nessus against theirselves...

Trouble redirecting traffic on transparent bridge.
I have posted this question to the netfilter mailing list along with #ebtables, #iptables, and #netfilter. Nobody has really responded, so I''m led to believe
that it is either incredibly complicated or *really* simple. Please, somebody throw me a bone here! Ok, on with the show...
I have a bridge (br0) with two interfaces (eth1 and eth2). Neither br0, eth1, or eth2 have an

Can't compile 3.01 on Solaris
I can't get 3.0.1 to fully compile on my Solaris machines(2.6 and 2.8) Below
is an example the error I am getting. Note, that it errored out earlier with
the same problem, I typed make again and it went on to the next file, got
the same error about a file with extension .o.o not existing.
The actual error:

Running script with double-click
Hi,
I need to be able to run an R script by double-clicking the file name in
Windows. I've tried associating the .r extension with the different R
.exe's in /bin but none seems to work. Some open R then close right
away, and Rgui.exe gives the message ARGUMENT "/my/file.r" __ignored__
before opening a new, blank session.
I've tried Google and looking in the R for

FreeBSD 6.1 mongrel_cluster and procfs message
I''m running the latest mongrel (1.0.1) and the latest mongrel_cluster
(1.0.1.1) on FreeBSD 6.1.
When I use capistrano to try to stop or restart my cluster I get this
(partial) output:
ps: Process environment requires procfs(5)
And my Mongrel processes haven''t stopped.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

RAV for Samba (Linux i386)
Just wondering if anyone has thoughts (good or bad) about this product
(RAV AntiVirus for Samba (Linux i386))...or any other?
I have a client that wants to have A/V *on* their samba server, rather
than just scanning the shares from a WS.
Any comments regarding ANTIVIRUS PROTECTION and SAMBA are gratefully
welcome!
TIA
