Paranoid Firewalling
After reading this article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/31/blocking_chinese_ip_addresses/ I got to thinking that there is really no reason for *any* traffic to hit my servers that comes from anywhere outside North America. So I wrote the perl script at the end of this posting to extract selected IP ranges posted at iana.org and convert them into iptables rules blocking any traffic

the correct way to stop a CDR?
Hey gang, Currently I have this dialplan: exten => _9.,1,Dial(blah/blah) exten => h,1,ResetCDR(w) exten => h,2,NoCDR() exten => h,3,DeadAGI(rate_call.php) The AGI script takes the completed call, determines all that NPNAXX crap, finds the cost and then updates the CDR with the cost. Problem is, I keep getting these messages: Jan 4 13:25:36 WARNING[13689]: cdr.c:114

Extension 's' in Realtime
Hi All, I was able to insert some extensions in Mysql DB and use them successfully. In Mysql extensions table the priority column is of type tinyint and when I give 's' value for it, it is not accepting that value as it takes only tinyints. Please tell how can I make that column accept values like t,s,i and make it work with asterisk in realtime without any problem? If I change the type

TE110P - Asterisk@Home Install Problems
I am having problems sending and receiving calls over the T1. They never seem to connect - outbound keeps ringing, inbound gets busy. The T1 looks ok - no errors on the line. Any ideas on what is wrong? I have tried a variety of fxsks and fxoks configurations without avail. This is a single asterisk@home system with a single T1 card. Robbed Bit T1 ami, d4. ------------------inbound call

Zap Channel error using 4-port FXO TDM400P
I have been having some troubles with the zaptel channel on what appears to be the inbound process. The box is running the stable CVS code and has a TDM400P 4-port FXO card in it for analog connectivity. Channel 1 is the only active port on the card at the moment as we only have one analog line. What has been happening is that it looks like Asterisk has been detecting an inbound call even though

Grandstream BT-101 POS Error
Hi- I'm at my wit's end trying to get a Grandstream BT-101 POS to register on my * server. Asterisk version is 1.2.1. GS Firmware is rev 1.0.6.7. Basically, I've setup the phone following the instructions at voip-info.org, and it registers for about 10 seconds, then after receiving the SIP NOTIFY from the * server, goes into "flashing display" mode, which indicates some

PRI dialout problem with some numbers...
I have an Asterisk server (1.4.13) using PRI in Monterrey, Mexico. This is really the first server I have used with PRI in Mexico as we normally use MFC/R2. Everything seems to be working except that some numbers always seem to be busy when you dial them. All these numbers belong to different phone companies. I know that with R2 this problem is present if you have a "#define

chan_unicall and /dev/zap/channel
Hello again :-( I have a problem with chan_unicall. If I have two simultaneous incoming or outgoing calls, they sound broken because cpu load goes to 99%. Also with one call, the cpu load goes to 99%. Seems like device /dev/zap/channel is busy after 5 or 10 seconds , and chan_unicall does not write to this. strace with asterisk-1.0.7, zaptel-1.0.7, kernel-2.6.10 ================================

Unable to dial out over Zap - span 1 got hangup, cause 44
Hi I posted earlier about having issues connecting to Telewest's ISDN, only to find out later Telewest had forgotten to turn it on - hopefully I'm not having a similar silly problem. My PRI span is now up and operational, but when I try to send a call out over it, I just get congestion tones. Occasionally, I get about one second of ring tones, only for it to cut out and play congestion.

error: CDR on channel '<unknown>' has not started
Hi, I installed asterisk-addons and configured it so that the cdr is done on a mysql database. Everything was fine, until I originated outgoing calls using the manager API. The call itself is performed perfectly, but when I hangup, I get the following warning on asterisk CLI: Aug 31 14:29:23 WARNING[-308995152]: cdr.c:331 ast_cdr_end: CDR on channel '<unknown>' has not started
