Getting a list of managed machines on the puppetmaster.
Is there an easy way to list which puppet daemons a puppetmaster controls? ... and from that, is there a way of getting the puppetmaster to store a copy of their compiled configuration somewhere? Thanks, mike

using cifs to access posix acl from a linux client
Hi, We would like to mount a Linux server running samba using a cifs mount from a linux client (linux->linux) and still be able to access the extended attributes. Acl's work on the native filesystem, however when we mount the samba server on the Linux client using mount -t cifs //localhost/test test -o username=xxx Then the extended attributes are no longer visible, only the default

Can asterisk give half-ring periodically for MWI?
Hi all, Configuration: Analog phone connected to TDM400p. I'd like the phone to give a half-ring (chirp) periodically when there is a message waiting. Can this be done? How is it configured? The visible "Message waiting" indicator and the stutter dial tone are working fine, but are not sufficient for me. Thanks!

"labels" attached to variable names
Hi, Can we attach a more descriptive "label" (I may use the wrong terminology, which would explain why I found nothing on the FAQ) to variable names, and later have an easy way to switch to these labels in plots? I fear this is not possible and one must enter this by hand as ylab and xlab when making plots. Thanks in advance, Denis Chabot

Can't connect to Asterisk cli
Hello, I have started using Asterisk recently on my Ubuntu server. I installed it first using apt-get and it worked fine sort of, but still couldn't hear voice during the call! I read that this problem solved by reinstalling it, so I decided to reinstall the latest version from the source as apt-get can give you only Asterisk 1.8So I have installed Asterisk 11 following the procedure in

p-level in packages mgcv and gam
Hi, I am fairly new to GAM and started using package mgcv. I like the fact that optimal smoothing is automatically used (i.e. df are not determined a priori but calculated by the gam procedure). But the mgcv manual warns that p-level for the smooth can be underestimated when df are estimated by the model. Most of the time my p-levels are so small that even doubling them would not result

Shorewall and printing problems in the LAN ( loc ) zone
Guys, Just a quick check. From what i have read in the shorewall site, intrazone traffic is allowed completely by shorewall i.e. there is no filtering or packet size limiting ,etc,etc. I ask this becos after getting shorewall up and running well, someone has complained that they cannot print pdf files larger than 100k at one go but that they have to print one page at a time. Some details;

Can't make asterisk work...how to test?
All, I've put a new asterisk server at another location and can't seem to get it working. What's the best strategy to debug connections? puzzled by math on date-time objects

When I create a small artificial set of date information in class POSIXct, I can calculate the mean and the median: a = as.POSIXct(Sys.time()) a = a + 60*0:10; a [1] "2009-03-10 11:30:16 EDT" "2009-03-10 11:31:16 EDT" "2009-03-10 11:32:16 EDT" [4] "2009-03-10 11:33:16 EDT" "2009-03-10 11:34:16

2 small problems: integer division and the nature of NA
Hi, I'm wondering why 48 %/% 2 gives 24 but 4.8 %/% 0.2 gives 23... I'm not trying to round up here, but to find out how many times something fits into something else, and the answer should have been the same for both examples, no? On a different topic, I like the behavior of NAs better in R than in SAS (at least they are not considered the smallest value for a variable), but at the
