RE: faxing to/from asterisk - new scripts
Roman: I created two bash scripts called Mail2Fax and Fax2Mail for use with the asterisk sever. They leverage the app_txfax and app_rxfax scripts, along with ast_fax. They make using these apps a lot easier, including being able to mail to fax@domain.ca for outgoing faxes and then extracting phone numbers from the subject line! (Makes it easy to use with Sendmail without complex rules /

Branch based on call volume
?I meant how many calls are in progress on a particular trunk. (Sorry - I didn't even think of the other interpretation). ________________________________ From: asterisk-users-bounces at lists.digium.com <asterisk-users-bounces at lists.digium.com> on behalf of Matt Riddell <lists at venturevoip.com> Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2015 9:26 AM To: Asterisk Users List Subject: Re:

use depending on what the subnet mask is. The output provided shows two possible networks: 172.31.253.0/24 and 172.31.254.0/24. Or is this all part of the same address space with a different mask? If it is all the same space, then is the asterisk server network stack properly configured with a proper subnet mask? The bb can reach the asterisk server because it registers. Hope this helps On

Investigating international calls fraud
Do you have DISA setup? We're seeing lots of attackers running scripts that send digits until they strike a DISA, misconfigured mailbox, etc. (Assuming it wasn't a stupid employee forwarding an inbound call to a 9xxxxxxx number etc). Have a look at SecAst (www.generationd.com) - it detects callers sending too many digits, monitors digit dialing speeds, etc. to help identify and block

Restricting registration for peer 'iaxmodem0' to60 seconds
There's a #define macro in channels/chan_iax.c that you can modify to make this forced value higher. Just open it up in your favourite editor and search for '60' and you'll find it. Now if there's an easier way than having to change a source-level macro, I'm all ears... Cheers!, --jkinard -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces at lists.digium.com

monitoring asteriks
How can I monitor asterisk if all lines are registered etc? I have an asterisk on a remote location and sometime they reporting problems that phone is not ringing, they can not dial out etc. Usually I just restart asterisk and it solves the problem. Is there an application that will email me if case any line looses registration with with asterisk? Or any better solution! -- Joseph

Voicemail email attachment as MP3, with tags containing sender name, number, message number
I found some great pieces of script on the internet that I've combined to allow Asterisk to send voicemails as an MP3 file, and encode the sender name and number as well as message number as tags into the MP3 file. I even include a "cover art" image which has our company logo and PBX symbol in it. Mobile phone users love it, and Android phones can now play the attachments (without

mythtv on centos4
Has anyone had any success or failures with installing mythtv onto centos4? Even better, has anyone any prebuilt rpms to do this? Looks to me like centos+mythtv is quite an interesting prospect in the always-on single home server environment. -- Cheers, Tony

Centos 5.1, mythtv, saa7134_dvb?
I'm trying to set up my Centos 5.1 box at home to run mythtv. The DVB-T card requires saa7134 and saa7134_dvb. These are not in the Centos kernels. Centosplus has saa7134, but not saa7134_dvb. Do I have to compile the kernel myself, or is there a trick? Mogens -- Mogens Kjaer, Carlsberg A/S, Computer Department Gamle Carlsberg Vej 10, DK-2500 Valby, Denmark Phone: +45 33 27 53 25, Fax:

Anonymous SIP calls
James, I'm a systems and telecom professional with experience going back more than thirty years, to the days of teletype, current loop, POTS (2600hz signalling anyone?) and echo cancellation via analog level control and hybrid balance. Your read of the intent of the VOIP/SIP design correctly. The intent WAS to make making connections between endpoints as easy as using a browser.

MythTV on Centos 4
I'm starting a project to build a MythTV box for my living room. Anyone else currently working with MythTV on CentOS 4? Here are some of the gotcha's I've worked through so far: - I was originally planning on using KnoppMyth. But their CD appears to be only for i386. Without realizing it, the P4 CPU I picked is one of the newer ones with the x86_64 extensions. It won't boot
