Cisco 79xx XML Apps (was: Re: Cisco Directory Format)
Do you know where to find clear developers' guides (with some examples)
for developing apps that run *on* Cisco 79xx phones (especially the
7970)? Examples that can run against Asterisk (not CallManager) with SIP
firmware (not SCCP), and/or LDAP directories (or other open servers)
would be best.

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features
with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end
phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to
telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a
development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are
so obscure.
There seems to be a fair amount

7970 CTLFile.tlv?
I've got a Cisco 7970 that's not completing its network registration to
Asterisk. The "Registering" message stays on the screen (with the moving
time wheel). After a few minutes, the onscreen message flashes "Updating
CTL" then "Loading...", then the status messages update with:
No valid CAPF server
File Not Found: CTLFile.tlv
No CTL installed

OT - Cisco Callmanager System Prompts
Off topic, but involves an Asterisk deployment in a roundabout way.
Anyone here intimately familiar with Cisco Callmanager (Version 4-5),
that can tell me where a directory of the standard system voice prompts
for Callmanager might be obtained? I am looking for the text and
filenames of the standard prompt set that ships with Callmanager, have
been all over the Cisco site and I can't find it.

Trouble registering Cisco 7942
I'm trying to connect a Cisco 7942 to my Asterisk box. I have a 7960
and 7912 currently connected and functioning. I'm trying to use the
recommendations from here:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+phone+cisco+79x1+xml+configuration+files+for+SIP
I have created a "XMLDefault.cnf.xml" and it took the latest image but
the phone states it's unprovisioned? Any

Asterisk Cisco CallManager Integration
Hi,
Where can I find information on H.323 for Asterisk and/or integration with
Cisco CallManager in particular?
<http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+Cisco+CallManager+Integration>
I have oh323 working on Asterisk. Since the CallManger I am working with
is running 3.3.3 I cannot use SIP...
Thanks,

Skinny and CISCO 7905G
Hello,
I tried to configure a cisco 7905 IP phone using the skinny channel but
I had not much luck.
The relevant portion of skinny.conf is:
[cisco1]

callerid="Alex" <123-456-789>
mailbox=500
callwaiting=1
transfer=1
context=default
threewaycalling=1
line => 500 ; Dial(Skinny/500@cisco1)
I set up the tftp server, and prepared the following

Cisco Callmanager 3.3 Asterisk OpenH323
Hi,
i'm searching and trying, but can't get it working.
I'm trying to send calls from Cisco Callmanager to Asterisk with oh323 channel
driver.
Therefor the asterisk is defined as a H323 Gateway in the Cisco Callmanager.
The Call comes from CCM to Asterisk and it works but i didn't get the called
number. This is needed because i want to make Voicemailboxes.
If i connect via

Cisco CallManager Image for 7940/7960
Does anyone have the .bin file(s) to convert a Cisco 7940/7960 back to the CallManager image?
I want to start playing around with the chan_skinny addition, but it seems the .exe's from cisco want to open a connection to a SQL server or CallManager (which I don't have).

Cisco 7960 SIP Craziness...
Hi All!
First, let me introduce myself, as this is my first post to the list
(I've been lurking for quite some time now).
My name is Matt Hardeman, and I work for a software development firm in
Birmingham, AL.
We are interested in the Asterisk PBX and it's various configurations
first as an internal solution for our occasionally bizarre telephony
needs, and eventually are interested

Cisco 7970 - register with NAT phone
continuing discussions of 79xx issues. i've seen referenced and am
experiencing difficulty getting a 7970 to work behind NAT to a public
asterisk server. i am successful with 7960s.
1. SIP load is 70.8-3-3SR2S
2. config works fine if 7970 is connecting to an asterisk server a
local LAN (same subnet)
3. when debugging it in a NAT'd environment I see the register and

cisco 7970 sccp
Does anyone have the 7970 work with sccp?
I have used the example configurations from the wiki.
I can see that the phone is failing to retrieve the
CTLSEP<MAC>.tlv file and then is able to retrieve the
SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml file. The phone is hanging with the
message "updating ctl".
Thanks,
John

Cisco 7960 And Firmware Upgrades
Hi all!
I have a new Cisco 7960 that I am testing out with asterisk, but it is
currently loaded with the CallManager firmware.
The reseller has sent me the latest SIP firmware files to load onto the
phone, but as is mentioned in the Cisco FAQ entry for converting a
CallManager phone to SIP, there is a bug in the firmware presently on my
phone which prevents it from being upgraded straight to

Do I need a CH1 licence for Cisco Phones ?
I've got a question regarding Cisco IP Phones and licencing.
When using a third party PBX like asterisk is a licence required for the
Cisco phones ? Has anyone got anything in writing from Cisco to clarify this
?
Eg can I just use CP-7961G or do I need CP-7961G-CH1 even though I'm not
using Cisco Callmanager ?

AW: Problems with Cisco 7920/Skinny/Asterisk
Hi Jan,

Same here, no joy so far.

The default file should only get requested when the specific file wasn't
found.
