VoIP PoE phones for restaurant
Greetings, I mailed the list regarding an intercom system some months ago and we came to the conclusion that I should purchase a Polycom 501 phone. I'm now considering the purchase for this year, and I'm now wondering between the Polycom 501 and the 320 for the intercom. I don't need the spare ethernet on the phone because I would like to have my voice network separate from my

Linksys SRW224P POE Switch
We are currently considering the Linksys POE switch for a small Asterisk office deployment. There will be no separate wiring closet to put it in. Can anybody tell me if this switch has a loud fan? Users would not be able to tolerate a loud noise close by. Otherwise we will go with a fanless desktop switch. Thanks, -- Andres

Polycom power over ethernet (PoE) cables for 500/501, 600/601 and 650 sets
Hi, folks: I just took delivery of new PoE cables (PN 2200-11077-002) for our Polycom phones here in the office. I have the following to report, for the erudition of existing Polycom users and those considering purchasing Polycom sets from the set of models noted in the subject: 1. The cables do indeed work (hooray). 2. The cable has a module on it about a third of the way from a female end.

Which phones are good, or at least acceptable, for home and office
I am looking to replace all of the old "Bell" (POTS) phones in my home and office with IP phones. As you can imagine I don't have a huge budget to work with but I want phones that will provide acceptable voice quality and durability. There are basically three categories as I see it 1. satellite phones (low cost, low function) 2. primary domestic phone (good quality, POE capable,

PoE - IEEE 802.3af
Hi, I'm not clear on how to use Power--over-Ethernet, specifically with Polycom phones. What I understand, is that by buying the Polycom 501 with the 802.3af cable bundle, I simply connect my phone, through the Polycom provided "special" RJ-45 cable, into a PoE capable switch, and voil?! Is this true? And if so, what happens when the Phone doesn't connect directly to the

Anyone use the Linksys phones? (Zeeshan Zakaria)
Note that the newish SPA962 has 6 appearances and a color screen. I've noticed that the bright color screen does impress people when they first see it. PoE is also very nice and web provisioning was quite easy. I've yet to try a more automated provisioning method on it. I know that getting the polycom's to auto provision wasn't very straight forward. I do provision some

Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch recommendations
Hi listers, I am looking for people who have used Power over Ethernet switches, primarily in conjunction with Polycom IP 501's. I've been looking at the Linksys SRW224P, since I've had good luck with the SRW224 in our office. However, Nortel, Cisco, Adtran, etc. all have an offering, all of which vary in price. I would appreciate any input people have to offer. Thanks, James

Re: Implementing Paging on the Linksys SPA9XX phones (working)
I came up with this a few days ago, mostly used the wiki examples, didn't have time to post on the wiki yet, maybe one of you guys with a few minutes can throw it up there, really, I forgot my logon. http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/index.php?page=Asterisk+Paging+and+Intercom The agi script didn't work for me, wouldn't call the active hint extensions, even though they were there, no

Cisco phones and Linksys SRW224P
I'm having problem powering Cisco phone's (7940 and 7905) on Linksys SRW224P switch (with PoE functionality). I have tested three phone's, one is working (7905) and two aren't (7905 and 7940). I have plugged all three phones on same switch port with same cable! Do I need to change anything in phone configuration? Is there something wrong with Linksys switch? How can I troubleshoot

Polycom or Linksys phones bootp tftp config setup
Hi All, Has anyone gotten the polycoms or the linksys phones to accept oprtion 66 on the dhcp request for the address of the tftp config server? We have the dhcp server issuing the proper IP of the tftp server, but the phones just sit there and never try to contact the tftp server for their configs. We can see the proper option going from the dhcp to the phones with ethereal trace. Thanks JR

Polycom Power
I have a 501 with traditional power and a 301 with PoE. I rightfully assumed that the traditional power from the 501 would work on the 301. How do I get the PoE to work? Do I use the Polycom PoE cable in addition to whatever PoE injection method I use? I have a Cisco PoE injector that works on my Cisco AP350 and my 7960. No combination of this injector, the Polycom cable, and the phone result in

Jittery meetme conference using Linksys 942 phones
We have two Linksys 942 phones which sound great when they call each other directly through Asterisk. But when they both dial in to a meetme conference room, the sound is very jittery. Other phones like Polycom 501 and Snom 360 sound fine when using meetme. Both Linksys phones are set to use the default g711u (ulaw) codecs. Adjusting the jitter buffer and jitter level settings to various values

Good comparisons on cheaper VOIP phones
Hello list, I am doing some work for a non profit group. As part of this, I am going to be putting in a 30 handset Asterisk solution. We are trying to keep the costs down as much as possible, as this job includes cabling, I am looking at POE solutions. On the switch side, I am considering something like some Netgear ProSafe FS726TP 24 port switches, or maybe the equivalent Linksys SRW224MP 24

GXP-2000 Phones with Cisco 3560 PoE Switch
We are connecting the GXP2000 to a Cisco POE switch 3650, it the default mode at 15.4 for each phone the phones power up but we can only have 24 on a 48 port switch, when we adjust the setting to 7000 (which is what we calculate the phone to use) they don't power up ... we tried all the power settings from 7000 up to 154000 but it only powers up at 15.4, we should be able to get almost 48
