Snom side car annoyance
Has anyone got this annoying sidecar to illuminate when users are on the
phone?
In my function key settings I have:
Context: Active
Type: Extension
Number: <sip:4000@serve.address.com;user=phone> (4000 is the extension I
want to see/dial on the key).
I can press the key and it will dial the extension, it just won't
illuminate when the user is on the phone or on DND Since I have

LAN switches with PoE? PoE phones?
Hi all,
I'm looking for recommendations on ethernet switches for a new
install. Ideally would want switches with at least 24 ports,
ideally with a GE uplink, and that support PoE (power over
ethernet) on every port. I've seen lots of switches, and lots of
"power hubs", but the combination, which makes a lot of sense,
seems rare. What is out there? Do the switches need to be

PoE VOIP phones in Australia
Hi,
Are there any resellers of phones that can take power over ethernet in
Australia? All I can find for sale online is the BT-10[12], which is cheap
but not featureful enough, and the Snom 190, which is about right, but
neither of them support PoE. I'm particularly intereseted in the Snom 220
with the keypad expansion for our receptionist.
Although, could you make a PoE split-out cable

POE hub
I need to connect up to sixteen phones per building, I can use a cheap hub,
but POE would be useful. Is there a cheap POE hub available? Everything I
have seen has been expensive.

Powering SNOM 200 phones?
Ok, not exactly an Asterisk problem, but...
I picked up some SNOM 200 phones because SNOM's have been recommended for use
with Asterisk and they have line buttons that can subscribe to presence.
However, they don't appear to power up when connected to my Negear FS108P,
which is an 802.3af Power-over-ethernet capable hub. I am pretty sure
these are the SNOM 200b, in that the ethernet

Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch recommendations
Hi listers,
I am looking for people who have used Power over Ethernet switches, primarily in conjunction with Polycom IP 501's. I've been looking at the Linksys SRW224P, since I've had good luck with the SRW224 in our office. However, Nortel, Cisco, Adtran, etc. all have an offering, all of which vary in price. I would appreciate any input people have to offer.
Thanks,
James

Dear Friends,
We have implemented "Asterisk" in our organization. There are 150 members in our organization. At present all are using softphones. Now, I want to buy hardphones for our staff. Can anybody suggest me that what is the best hardphone for Asterisk with low-cost?
Thank you.

Why Aastra uses 48V whereas other IP Phones use much less, i.e. 5-12V
Hi,
Why Aastra phones use more electricity, i.e. 48VDC whereas other phones use
much less, e.g. Grandstream and Linksys both use only 5VDC. I first thought
it was because of PoE, but the ones with 5VDC also run fine on PoE. What is
the difference in power consumption then?

Network\Snom phone oddity
I have a client that has 5 Snom 320s. 4 work great, one does not. I upgrade the firmware to the latest (6.5.2) and the problem goes away, but then comes back a couple days later.
There is a slight packet loss on the phone (about 1%), though there is no packet loss on any of the other phones.
I determine the packet loss by the Linux command "ping -f -c 10000 192.168.2.10".

cisco poe
I know this is on the wiki, I just want to confirm so I don't blow up my
cisco phones. I've got several cisco 7940's all running using cisco
power cubes. However, my boss wants me to switch just a few over to
poe, but doesn't want to fork out the dough for a nice cisco poe switch,
or anybody else's poe switch for that matter.
So my question is, what is the '99.999%

snom mass deployment (probably off topic)
Hello
Although not stictly a asterisk issue, any help would be apreciated.
Firstly a few notes on the snom 360, which I have had on a test bed
for the last week. Its a great phone, with a good user interface,
both physically and its web based one.
At its lastest firmware it does have a few quirks, with regards to the
way it handles usernames and passwords on the physical interface.
These have

Snom (vs Polycom) - provisioning
Hi,
I`m not actually asking for a comparaison between the two, I have one on
hand and will make up my own mind. But I can't find much info on whether
the Snom (370 to be exact) accepts FTP provisioning like the Polycom (but
few others) do.
Any Snom user can answer this one for me?

Snom 300 Echo
We're deploying an asterisk-based phone system at all of our branch
offices in an effort to eliminate long-distance costs incurred from the
constant branch to branch calls. We're using the Snom 300's at all
offices for the desk phones and X100P cards to interface to 2 analog
lines. I'm having a problem tuning all the echo out of the system. So
far two branches are using the

VoIP PoE phones for restaurant
Greetings,
I mailed the list regarding an intercom system some months ago and we
came to the conclusion that I should purchase a Polycom 501 phone.
I'm now considering the purchase for this year, and I'm now wondering
between the Polycom 501 and the 320 for the intercom.
I don't need the spare ethernet on the phone because I would like to
have my voice network separate from my

Re: Newbie Questions - Grandstorm phones?
Thanks everyone for the input. After pricing everything we need out,
it's not worth trying to get our old system to work, so I've pitched
ditching everything and starting over. I'm very excited and hoping
they'll go for it.
Regardless, I'm going to throw a box together for my house, we have no
home phone (just cell phones) so this'll be a great way of testing.
