valid users and file permissions
Hi people, I'd like to understand valid users and file permissions better. I have a share which is not behaving as I expect. [family] path = /home/shares/family create mask = 0664 directory mask = 0775 force group = parental guest ok = No valid users = @parental, @family writeable = Yes in Group parental are mum & dad; in group family are mum, dad and offspring. With file permissions

IAX vs SIP
I wonder how IAX compares to SIP bandwidth-wise? I've tried both over overseas IP connection, and somehow SIP seemed to work better. Peter

IAXY codec support and questions..
Hi.. I have to setup an extension in a remote location that will use a cordless analog telephone.. I am looking at the IAXY to do this for me..Basically the data path will be as follows... [Asterisk] == (NAT) == {Internet} == (NAT) == ATA -- Handset Since there are two NAT boxes in the path I know SIP won't work.. I also don't want to move the Asterisk box to the internet side of the

How to park and pickup a call
Hi All, How to park and pickup a call? The scenario of park and pickup described as below. UserA made a call to UserB, and the call ware connected, Then UserB parked (or hold) the call, and told UserC to pickup the call on one line, and then, UserC pressed some keys to pickup the call. Who can tell me what's the Park/Pickup's typical flow in the Asterisk. And how to set the sip.conf,

glm.predict?
I've been attempting to calculate the predictions from a poisson glm object, along these lines: predict(foo.glm, type = "response") and predict(foo.glm, type = "response", se.fit = TRUE) foo.glm is arrived at this way: foo.glm <- glm(Insects ~ Dad * Mum + Location, offset = log(MM), family = "poisson", data = model.df) There are two

RTP routing..
Here is a question for all you routing guru's out there.. I am using an ADSL line (512/256Kbps) to connect from the internet to my Asterisk server.. At a point I will run out of bandwidth so the cheapest option would be to add a second ADSL line.. The problem is how will the routing work? If I put 2 IP's on one NIC will the return traffice be routed back via the gatway of the IP that

Fedora Core 2 and Kernel 2.6
Hi All, I decided to have a go at installing Asterisk on FC2 which now runs on Kernel 2.6.. Unfortunately I didn't get very far.. When trying to build zaptel it required me to link /usr/scr/linux-2.6 to the default source dir which is /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358.. I guess thats still the RH infulence.. :) After than I tried again but the page rolls with errors and finally ends with..

Outgoing SIP Call to unregistered Users
Hi! I'm using asterisk with a few kphone SIP-Clients. The registration process seems quite OK. But there are some problems: Calling other registered users is possible, but the rtp-stream is not reaching the right port, so you can hear nothing. In ethereal you can see, that the SIP/SDP fields addresses different ports at each client, so client A sends to port 32000 but client B listens on

OT: Question on Caller ID (Spoofing calls with Asterisk)
I got a call from an overseas call center telling me about the problems with the Windows machine I was using. They wanted to remote in and fix things for me ... (Ignore the fact I use a MacBook Pro or an ASUS laptop with Debian). What I found curious was the caller's name was Asterisk, and the caller's number was Asterisk at 10 or or Astrk at 10 similar. (I don't recall the exact

3.3v PCI board - TE410P photo
Hi- I have posted a photo of the TE410P Digium card on my site, so that those wishing to purchase a compatible motherboard can see physically what the PCI slot requirement is: http://www.evtmedia.com/TE410P.htm I believe the required slot is a 64-bit, 3.3 Volt PCI, most commonly found on Xeon-based motherboards. A 64-bit slot is longer than the TE410P board requires, but the PCI connector
