Poor man's High Availability solution
Hi,
I'm wondering what the best option to obtain a high availability
asterisk server is.
I currently use a TE410P (4 x E1) card.
I'm thinking of 2 different solutions:
- 2 servers configured with Heartbeat + DRBD (drbd mainly for
voicemail....) and the E1 span plugged to the 2 servers (with a TE410P
in each server).
- 2 servers configures with Heartbeat + DRBD with the E1 span hooked

RedFone foneBRIDGE2 2e1 - anyone used it oranother TDMoE bridge?
For high-availability Asterisk when using PRI Lines, you might also want
to check out our product (FSV-4PFS). It's available at

Also to add to the last post does this device have hardware echo cancelation?
if it does it could be a great replacement, if not may not be what I'd
really want to use.
Thanks,

Failover Device?
First,
Something seems to be wrong with the list. I'm not the only person
who has expressed seeing their messages either arrive late, or not at
all.
With that out of the way..
Is anyone aware of any type of failover device for PRI on asterisk?
I've found the ISDNGuard, however it is currently not made in the
U.S., nor does it run on U.S. power.
Is anyone aware of a device that will

Perhaps.
I think the hardware on which we run Asterisk can be much more
reliable than the software, which is often the case. We have a bunch
of HP servers with RAID and have never lost anything. A HD may fail,
but the RAID keeps it going until we pop a new drive in there. A

Bulk Reverse Phone Lookup
Is anyone aware of a service where we can lookup phone numbers to
determine a name and/or name + address available in bulk?
We want to look up every number called to our call center, so it will
be tens of thousands per day. Services that charge 3 to 5 cents per
lookup will get way too expensive very quickly.
Thus, I'm looking for a service that can either license a database or

Hardphone SIP phone costs
I'm trying to understand something that just doesn't seem to compute.
How can companies like Cisco justify selling their hard phones for as
much as they do? I know there is a matter of recouping R&D costs but
when you look at the iPhone with all its amazing features for less than
$500.00 it just doesn't make sense. Am I the only one that thinks this?

ztdummy
What does it take to get ztdummy to work correctly?
I have a new laptop HP HDX9200. I am running asterisk 1.4.19 and zaptel
1.4.9.2
Zaptel compiles fine. asterisk compiles fine. ztdummy loads asterisk runs.
Problem is playback() does not work. So then I stop zaptel, asterisk
runs and playback() now
works. However, meetme()'s dont work. I need ztdummy I'm pretty sure for
that.

Asterisk 1.4 reliability problems
Hello All,
We have been experiencing some ongoing reliability problems with
Asterisk for quite some time, and I am trying to find out if anyone else
has experienced the same problems.
We are running asterisk 1.4.17~dfsg-2+b1 on Debian Lenny, with a Digium
PRI card, and have approximately 120 sip peers, mostly Snom 360s, with a
few Grandstream GXP2000 and a handful of Handytone 486 units.

REFER mesage extraction using SIP_HEADER
Hi * users,
I would like to extract the information present in the SIP REFER
message that comes to asterisk. Would SIP_HEADER() allow me to do that
? I have used SIP_HEADER() for extracting the to and from SIP headers
previously.
Thanks

Experiences with FoneBridge2 / TDMoE?
I'm scoping out HA for a relatively simple Office/Call Center PBX. Current
setup uses a TE412P with 4 PRI our telco with SIP hard/soft phones for
users. Some outbound also goes to a SIP provider.
Active/Active looks to be too much hassle for an installation this size, so
we're looking at adding an extra * in an active/passive configuration with
Linux-HA in between them.
Does anyone

asterisk+heartbeat
Hi,
I'm using heartbeat as a failover for my asterisk server.
on the active server 1 i have
10.10.10.1 eth0
10.10.10.3 secondary eth0
asterisk listens to the secondary ip, so that if server 1 fails, server
2 will then get that IP.
so if server 1 fails, server 2 will have the IP
10.10.10.2 eth0
10.10.10.3 secondary eth0
problem is i have to bind asterisk to the secondary IP if dont, i

Moving from Redfone's Fonebridge to Allo 2nd Gen PRI card
We have been running around than 40 asterisk servers running on Debian
Squeeze for last three years, handling traffic of more than few
hundred thousand calls per day.
Our setup's PRI-banks were using Redfone's Fonebridge. We had PRIs
from multiple telephony providers. And Redfone's Fonebridge handled
all that easily.
But all good things come to end. Redfone's Fonebridge was not

Hardware question about Redfone's foneBridge
I am looking for input on wether the 4 port T-1 foneBridge is a useful
device in a asterisk deployment. Would it be better to loadup a extra
asterisk server to trunk the T-1's via IAX or is TDMoE safe in production
enviroments. We are only looking at 2 T-1's, one for pstn and the other to a
channel bank. Any advice?

Had it with Dell Garbage
I've had it with Dell server garbage. They seem to change RAID
controllers as much as I change socks, and then the controllers don't work
with Linux, unless you load a new driver. They sell servers with a PCI-e
slot in them, but then you get it and find out the RAID controller is using
the PCI-e slot! Their sales folks are dumber than rocks, and they change
them more often than I

What is the best way to setup Auto Failover Redundancy for Vicidial with Asterisk on CentOS or other Linux OS?
There seems obviously quite a lot of possible setup for server clustering
and redudancy, but let's say considering about three mid-range servers only
with FoneBridge --- What could be the best way to setup Auto Failover
Redundancy for Vicidial with Asterisk on CentOS or other Linux OS?

audio disappeared after ztdummy install
All too common and largely undocumented. I had this same problem.
Installing ztdummy changes Asterisk to use it for timing of playback,
apparently. Removing ztdummy "fixed" the problem. To get it all to
work, I had to upgrade to to at least kernel 2.6.23.11 (previous
versions are either missing options are just broken.) After doing
this, I recompiled ztdummy and it worked. Note

Fonebridge2
Hello List
Does anybody have any experience with the FoneBridge line of products from RedFone?
I think their HA implementation sounds interesting, and like the prospect of having dedicated hardware for our PRI connections.
Kind Regards
