explorer.exe 100% CPU, again
Dear all, I posted this problem sometime back on 0.9.26 (http://www.winehq.com/pipermail/wine-users/2006-December/024086.html). I thought the problem was fixed, but it seemed not. >From 0.9.26 all the way to the latest 0.9.30, I've been seeing this problem on my system (Linux flying 2.6.17-11-generic #2 SMP Thu Feb 1 19:52:28 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux; Ubuntu Edgy installed, but running

Install wine, dependency problem, newbie woes
Downloaded wine from codeweavers and tried to install with Kpackage. "Needs libXv.so.1" Tried locating lib* with Google, but Google comes up with packages with different names. Maybe the lib I need is part of a larger library. So, where to find what I need, and then what to do with it (eg. just copy to /lib)?? Thanks in advance for clues, dave

Disabling hal support
Is there a registry key or similar to disable HAL support? I believe I have the latest version of HAL (0.5.7), yet I have trouble running Warcraft III, due to the copy protection. If I have a symlink 'd: > /mnt/cdrom', wine creates 'e: > /mnt/cdrom' and 'e:: > /dev/hdc', and if I have 'd: > /mnt/cdrom' and 'd:: > /dev/hdc', Wine deletes

Wine doesn't work?
Clean install of Slackware 10.2. Wine 0.9.20. Downloaded slackware package. Installed with KPackage via KDE, no errors. I have several Windows apps that I used under Wine with Slackware 10.0. I right click on executable, select Wine Windows Emulator, I can see in the process table Wineserver, wine-preloader, and wineprefixcreator(?). Then they all go away, and nothing happens. It doesn't

samba-2.2.3a install errors
Hi, I am brand new to Linux (2 days new), so please forgive me if the answer is blindingly obvious to the more advanced user :-) I am trying to install Samba (samba-2.2.3a-20020206.i386.rpm) on Red Hat 7.2 (Kernel 2.4.7-10) using Kpackage 2.2 (Using KDE 2.2-11) I keep getting this message Found 0 source and 1 binary packages rpmdepCheck() failed. As far as I can tell all my dependent files

Problems installing quantreg
Hi All, I'm trying to install the quantreg library on my MEPIS box (debian-based linux). When I try >install.packages("quantreg") it fails to loads and errors with: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lblas-3. I tried installing a ton of packages to fix the missing part but the only thing I manage to do it cause problems with another shared library and had to re-install a couple of

not enough disk space
ok, this is a problem I've been having reguardless of what program I try and install -- running programs works fine, but not installing them. The problem is when I try and install a program using wine, it says that there is not enough disk space. This doesn't really make sense as I've got loads of disk space all over the place: / -> 45gb free /mnt/max40 -> 5gb free wine's

Is it possible to run explorer.exe under wine?
I'm intending to use wine on my Macbook Pro and am currently downloading the requisite materials, based on a tutorial on how to use wine for Mac. So I'm getting xcode and Macports package installer and from there I will install. Anyway, the tutorial also gives the basics of wine usage via terminal for executing windows files and while it's not particularly difficult it occurs to me

HP Laserjet WinXP driver install on samba 3.2.5 --> explorer.exe crash
Hi folks, I have a samba PDC with about 5 printers (from HP, Kyocera and Canon) and except the one HP Laserjet 2055 PCL6 all drivers (installed via 'Add Printer Wizard Driver Installation') for all printers did install well and without major issues in the print$-driver-share. With this driver all seems well until I finally hit the "ok"-button in the printer properties

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
Hello, I've seem to have found what looks like a bug in Samba 4.8.3. It's the same problem as described in https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2018-March/214589.html. When accessing the Security tab on files and folder from a share explorer.exe crashes. I've been able to track down that it only happens when the primary group of a file or folder is a Unix group. Using an AD group as
