Asterisk without PSTN interface cards
People, I will install asterisk on my Debian Etch box without a PSTN interface card. I want to use only softphones for the moment. My question are: 1) Is it enough to install with "apt-get" the asterisk 1.2 or do I have to get asterisk 1.4 manually ??? 2) Do I have to configure a dummy PSTN interface in my case ?? And if you have a debian-asterisk howto, I really thank you. Regards,

help with Sipura SPA 3000
Hi there everyone! I've bought a Sipura SPA 3000, and succesfully connected it to my Mac, where I installed Asterisk 1.4.0. Both ports (FXO and FXS) are well configured). However, living in Brazil, I'd like to know if there are optimal settings to my PSTN that I should enter into the config of the device. I experience a little bit of echo on the FXO probably because I raised the gain of

Trying to use solr
Hi, I am finally trying to use an fts engine with dovecot. My version is 2.3.7.2 under Ubuntu 20.04. I installed solr 7.7.3 and then 8.6.0 to see if this was a version-related error. I copied the schema from 7.7.0 as many people said this was fine. I get the following error when trying to reindex a user's mailbox: doveadm(francis at francisaugusto.com): Error: fts_solr: Indexing failed:

Best ATA for general residential deployment??
I read the thread about what IP phone is best for business deployment with great interest. Our need is slightly different however. We are deploying VoiP as a value-add with our high speed internet service and are having trouble finding the right SIP analog terminal adapter. In order to support people's existing phones and wiring we need to use an ATA. 1) The first priority is we want

ATA type IAX unit ?
For some time now some have been working on a winIAX client, plus others.... Now basically as I have mentioned before (& no one has correct it) there are 4 types of clients.... 1) Softphones, eg msn, xten etc using all computer hardware. 2) Softphones plus hardware, eg: a usb type adapter (mind you there are some things not common available with these yet. 3) Hardphones, basically your

ATA failover between datacenters
Hi Everyone, Does anyone know of any ATAs that can do proxy failover without using SRV. I don't want to rely on dns if at all possible. Basically, I have Asterisk boxes in two different data centers and I need ATAs to be able to uses the server at DC2 if DC1 goes down. The servers are already in a HA setup at each datacenter. I am looking for added protection if one of the datacenters

T.38 ATA
Hello all ! Can anyone recommend me ATA device that REALLY has T.38 built in. So far I have heard of Telco Systems Access201, which seems to be impossible to bye in Europe (all resselers are droped Telco systems ATAs for some reason (tried in Germany and in UK so far)), and I have heard that SIPURA SPA-2100 should have T.38 built in into newer firmware, but I wasn't able to confirm that

ATA with pulse dialing support over FXS
Hi. Does anyone know about a simple one-fxs ATA with pulse dialing support that can work with Asterisk? A SIP one would be ok. I've been told that the Digium S101i IAXy does support pulse dialing; although it's a iax2-only ata it could be enough. I need a bunch of them to convert some old fashioned rotary phones into VoIP ones (I'd like to disassemble the ATAs to remove the boards

Cisco ATA 186 and Asterisk
Anyone have call waiting working on the ATA-186 connected to Asterisk? Other VoIP phones seem to work, but I can not get the ATAs to allow call waiting. Christopher M Iarocci Network Admin JD Posillico 631-249-1872 X244

ATA that actually work with T.38
Hi, I am implementing T.38, and finding a problem getting boxes that work with T.38 for testing. A lot (maybe most) ATAs now claim to support T.38, but I'm finding a lot of these lie. I have one box here that just crashes when it hears a fax tone. :-) I'm looking for boxes known to implement T.38 properly, and which really work in the real world. Regards, Steve

pstn call waiting and zap
Hi, I hope someone could help me, i have a x100p interface for testing purpose and on each incomming call I redirect the call to handytone 388 atas, the problem comes when i'm during a call and another call comes in, i hear the call waiting beep (comming from the zap channel), but I can't catch the call as usually using flash+2 (my pstn call wait sequence), because when i flash the

ATA registration requests
I have two ATA186 running 2.14 and 2.15. I see in the SIP debugs that both ATAs keep on sending SIP registration packets over and over. The flow is as follows: Asterisk receives REGISTER packet Asterisk sends 100 trying, 200 ok with an expire of 3600. Kurt __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! ATA not sending data to asterisk?
Hi, I've just setup a second asterisk system and am having a wierd problem. If I am on the same network as the system it works fine... if I am outside coming in from the internet through a NAT I get the following: I can place calls.... I can hear the asterisk system. The asterisk system does not seem to hear me. When I do a tcpdump I don't even see the ATA sending anything to the

early dial: asterisk and ATA
Hi, I have a set of Grandstream GXW4008 (units of 8 FXS ATAs) and another set of Linksys SPA8000 (8 FXS ATAs). The GXW4008 has a "neat feature" called "early dial" which allows me to define a "dial pattern" as generic as {*X+,#+,X+} (or something similar; the idea is to "match all digits") and send those digits >>immediately<< as they are

ATA with reliable FAX?
I am looking for an ATA that has had very reliable results when passing FAX over IP. I was thinking of testing the Cisco (not Linksys) ATA 186 I1, ATA 186 I2, ATA 188 I1. This is what I'm looking for: FAX -> PTSN -> through Asterisk -> ATA -> Fax Machine. I have QoS from PSTN entry to ATA on the network so I can assure precedence. What has everyone out there been using

ATA shootout: PAP2T versus Grandstream Handytone 286
I'm considering a situation where I buy about twenty ATA devices. I've played with the Linksys / Cisco PAP2T, and got that working fine with some inbound and outbound faxing. The web GUI was okay. I'm seeing prices around $45 to $50 for this thing. It comes with two FXS ports, but I only need one FXS. I've seen the Grandstream Handytone 286 online. It looks promising as an

Root password or key access to pop3?
Hi all, We're an ISP, and are currently looking for a way for our tech support guys to access customer's email without having shell access to the server, or knowing the customer's password. We'd like to install a custom webmail client that would only show the user's inbox and the ability to delete the messages. The problem is, that we would have to know the user's

new ATA box for sale by Linksys
Fry's Electronics has a new Linksys 2 line ATA box for sale for $59.99 retail. They have a version with a router for $89.99. We picked the non-router version up and it seems to be a rebadged Sipura SPA-2000. The box has a Vonage service package inside as well, but it does work with other services. The box also has a "User Guide" meant for end-users that is very well written [no
