WCTDM-24xxp woes
I am currently running Asterisk 1.2.8, on an AMD Sempron 3100+ (ASUS K8N Nforce based board). I am using a Digium wctdm24xxp to terminate 8 (2x quad) FXO lines. Using ztmonitor (From zapata) I cannot see that there is any registerable incoming volume from these lines. I've been running them at rxgain = 25 (zapata.conf) to make the audio audible, however this creates poor call quality issues

TDM-400, Polycom SIP phones, and echo problems
Hi: I am working on a new system with a TDM-400P card with three FXO modules and one FXS module. The system has been in place for a week. Users are complaining of echo problems. I have noticed this echo myself. It varies in severity. It is sometimes bad enough to make it difficult to converse, but the users find it generally unacceptable. They miss their old phones, which just worked. As you can

HPEC audio clipping
I have recently moved an asterisk system to a new location. This location is experiencing terrible echo. I installed the HPEC from Digium but that has caused a new problem. When HPEC is enabled and more that 16 taps are used, the audio from the outside caller gets clipped. Instead of hearing: Hello, my name is Mike one hears He o, m ame ike If the taps are set to less than 16, there

TDM400P, fxotune and ADSL filters - Just a FYI, FWIW
This may be commonly known but I haven't come across it so here goes, maybe it'll help someone: I have terrible echo with asterisk 1.2, zaptel 1.2.12, and a TDM400P with 1 FXS and two FXO modules. The Mark2 echo canceller with Aggressive turned on was the only setting that would make it acceptable. I found fxotune with this zaptel version to be broken. I pulled the latest fxotune.c

ztdummy compile again
Hi, I'm still strugling with getting an easy to use conference system implemented. I did have app_conference running, but today I upgraded asterisk to 1.0.9 and it stopped working. I've tried following the instructions for compiling app_conference on 1.0.7 but it didn't work. So I went back to ztdummy (I've not had any luck getting this to compile on FC2). Anyhoo, I've

I'm trying to learn to use fxotune and am getting the error: Could not fill input buffer - got -1 bytes, expected 4000 bytes Failure! when I run it. This is a new install of Asterisk 1.4 and zaptel 1.4. Also I can't really find an up to date how to on it. Am I supposed to place fxotune on my startup path and run fxotune -s once it is working correctly. Any nuggets of info are most

FW: [Asterisk-Users, Andrew] Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
Thank you for the suggestions Andrew. I have not come across some of them before and will give them a shot. Based on my reading, changing the motherboard should have minimal impact unless that motherboard and the TDM400P don't get along (aka. IRQ sharing). I have disabled everything that is not needed and I do not believe I have any IRQ problems and I am NEVER wrong ;). Calls are crisp and

Asterisk not picking up incoming calls from TDM400P
Hi, I am having some issues with a new server install in Singapore. Outbound calls work fine. Inbound calls are not picked up by Asterisk. Zaptel will not build
FYI: I am trying to build zaptel-1.2.4 against the recently updated kernel version 2.6.9-34.EL on Centos 4.2. but I am getting errors and it will not build. This is apparently due to a typo in a kernel header spinlock.h although I have not successfully modified the kernel and built zaptel against it yet. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=180568 This bug report has a typo

Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
I came into this with my eyes wide open. I have read ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING there is to be found on the net about avoiding echo problems BEFORE I even attempted to create a production system. Since lots of people are apparently using this in production environments now I just assumed that echo IS avoidable. As others have recommended, I created a test system with the proposed production

Asterisk echo & fxotune
Hey all, guess I didn't include enough info in my last query. I'm having massive echo problems on our sip<=>fxo connections & have been reading up on echo cancellation & such. When I try to run fxotune I get the following error: Could not fill input buffer Tuning module 25.Failure! The system has two of the digium 4port fxo cards & one T1 card (which isn't fully

Please help with install *
I'm a neewbie in Linux, so please bear with me. I have a school assignment to make communication between 10 SIP softphones (kphone). So far I got trouble installing Asterisk. The information in asterisk web site seems to be a bit outdated because it's mentioned only kernel 2.4. Since Mandrake cooker (10.2beta3) witch I'm using is using kernel 2.6.10, I wander if I have a chance to

HPEC audio clipping
Hello, 1. A patch allowing "capture audio streams in a way that will allow [us] to debug (and presumably fix) the problem" was mentioned by Kevin. Anything new about it ? I couldn't find it in Zaptel 1.2.17.1 nor 1.4.2.1 changelog. 2. Is there any Mantis bug report allowing someone to track this "HPEC audio clipping" feature ? It seems to me this hasn't been reported

FXOTUNE update
Hey all, First of all, some background: Fxotune is a utility that is used to tune the hybrid on FXO modules For all of you with FXO modules out there, fxotune can help you adjust the analog and digital hybrid that is on the FXO interface and tune it so that it maximizes echo return loss. This means that it will reduce your default echo which is received, and will help any echo cancellers
