/dev/zap* is not showing up (gentoo, portage, asterisk 1.0.8)
hi there
I'm trying to get asterisk going on gentoo 2005.1
I'm just getting my feet wet so I thought I would just stick with the
stable portage packages. Right now that's asterisk 1.0.8
I emerge asterisk with the following make.conf file:
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686"
CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
USE="-gtk -gnome -qt -kde -dvd alsa

Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
Hi all..
I have found some problems on smbfs module in 2.4.18 kernel.
I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life
;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I
recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs
from 2.4.17 problem disappears!!
My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. I am using SuSE 7.3 with

X100P Clone, Which one?
Hi All,
Googling X100P Clone I found several information about these cards and seems that some winmodem has the same chip used from the original X100P.
Here below a list winmodem which should work as X100P clone:
1057 Motorola
5608 SM56 PCI Fax Voice Modem
E159 Tiger Jet Network Inc
0001 Tiger 300/320 PCI interface
I bought one "Trust 56k V92 PCI Internal Modem MD-1100" which has the

SCSI backup error
Hi,
Can someone please help me with this? I have just upgraded from 4.7 to 4.8-STABLE and
this is what I am getting when I try a tape backup. Please CC as I am not in the list. It was
working well before the upgrade (dump -0ua -f - / | gzip -c -9 | dd of=/dev/nsa0).
Thank you,

System freezes with i8042_panic_blink on suspend
Hello,
I am using CentOS 4.6 (2.6.9-67.plus.c4) on a toshiba tecra 8000
notebook. If closing the panel, "Panel Power On/Off" is enabled in
bios, the notebook does suspend. But after opening the panel, the
notebook completely freezes. If the suspend only takes a few minutes,
then everything is working fine. But if the suspend takes a time more
than five or ten minutes, the system

usb.ko is unloadable?
Dear colleagues,
I'm planning to debug usb connection with my new SONY CLIE handheld, and found
that this process is much complicated by the fact usb.ko module can not be
unloaded 'cause some process is referencing it:
marck@revamp:~/tmp> kldstat -v -i 11

isolinux 2.01 bug with Compaq and Promise BIOS
I have a Compaq something with a PII-400 and an Intel 440BX/ZX/DX
chipset. I put in a Maxtor Ultra133 PCI controller (which is a Promise
PDC20269, same as their TX2) and connected the hard drive thereto.
Before we go on, I should say that I **hate** both Promise and Compaq. I
wouldn't actually BUY this junk. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth,
as they say. :) (An old idiom I grew up

System hangs up every day
Hello everybody
Unfortunately my problem still doesn't have any solution.
But I have an interesting observation. The gateway freezes very quickly, if torrent client programs are running on workstations.
I assume the cause of the problem consists in many number of TCP/IP connections that torrent client establishes.
Any ideas?
Maybe I can tune somehow a TCP/IP via kernel, sysctl or pf settings?

Why new "SCSI" devices in 4.5 kernel?
I've been running CentOS 4.4 on my Thinkpad 600E machine. Now the new
2.6.9-55 kernel wants to support the SCSI devices I don't have.
After the 4.4 --> 4.5 update, on the reboot kudzu informed me that it had
detected my PIIX4 controller. Well, OK. That same chipset has been in
this machine for 10 years, but if the OS wants to re-detected it that's
fine with me.

Is vesamenu.c32 from 5.10?

SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout on FreeBSD 6.0 RELEASE
Hi
I have a newly installed FreeBSD 6.0 release machine on which I am
getting the following error on the console:
"ad4: req=0xc23bc258 SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout !!
DANGER Will Robinson !!"
This is generally associated with heightened disk activity, but it
happens inevitably after a while (minutes or hours) if the machine is
running.
The atacontrol list shows:

How to 'read' ztmonitor and set gains
Being one the many people trying to track down echo 'ghosts' I ran across
this page:
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html
suggesting ways to adjust the gain. I have a TDM400P 2x2 config with
Kewlstart lines configured. I've located a local telco milliwatt test line,
and when I call it, the gain numbers are no where near 14844. Now, this

em0: watchdog timeout -- resetting
I am getting these messages every 30 seconds or so. I searched around
and found a few other post about this problem with other devices, but no
answers to the problem. I didn't notice any of these message until I
upgrade to 4.8-RELEASE the other day. This is a dual processor machine.
It happens on all my machines that have em devices, which all happen
to be dual processor machines. I

Partial deadlock in 4.9p1
I've just had a 4.9p1 system partially deadlock for about 30 minutes
and then spontaneously(?) recover. The "ps" results point at vinum.
I've never seen this before and don't recall anything like this being
mentioned here before.
At the time, I had two find's running in a large NFS mounted
filesystem and was doing a "cvs -d /usr/ncvs -R checkout -P ports"
