Polycom MWI.
Hey, all. I'm all over MWI, but I gotta say that I think the Polycoms go a bit over the top. The blinking LED is enough for me; how do I disable the stuttered dialtone and the audible warble? I've looked through the config files, but there are a HELL of a lot of options, and I haven't been able to find those particular ones yet. Thanks! -Ken -- This message has been scanned for

Polycom 601 -- programming buttons.
Hi, all. I want to have a button on my receptionist's 601 that, when pressed, will forward her current call to a given extension. Is there any way to do that? I've tried to RTFM, but I'm coming up empty. Thanks, -Ken D'Ambrosio

Polycom and forwarding.
Hey, all. I've got an office set up with Asterisk, and forwarding's got a bit of a glitch: When they forward, they listen for the remote phone to ring, then hang up. If the remote phone doesn't connect, it goes to the original phone's VM. Is this Polycom's "fault," or Asterisk's? I've been reading up on blind/supervised forwards, and, honestly, have

"Decent" sub-$100 SIP phone.
Hey, all. I quoted a customer about $100 for some cheap SIP phones. I was planning on using the BT-102's, but he called said they look like "Princess phones," and I have to admit that he has a point. Some of the other inexpensive phones look decent, but (for example) the SPA-841's wiki entry says the remote end gets a lot of static. Since it'll be being used from a noisy

Polycom IP501 MWI goes off periodically
I remember seeing something like this on the list a while ago, but I'm darned if I can find it. We have a number of Polycom IP501 phones, some of which have more than one registration on them. When a voicemail is left for a phone with only one registration, the MWI lights up and stays lit until the voicemail is listened to. However, on our phones with more than one registration, the MWI

Polycom firmware: split vs. combined
http://downloads.polycom.com/voice/voip/sip_sw_releases_matrix.html Howdy, all. What's the difference between "split" and "combined" firmware, which can be seen at the above link? I've googled to no avail, I'm afraid. Thanks! -Ken -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

Polycom Soundpoint boot ROM upgrade: how?
I can't figure out how one upgrades the boot ROMs for the Polycoms. I've read the wiki, I've checked the docs, I've looked here, there, everywhere; I hoped it might be through the web interface, through DHCP... but I can't see how to do it. Suggestions? Thanks! -Ken

OT: Polycom BootRom 3.1.3 and vsftpd 2.0.3
Docs? Polycom has docs? Where would one find this fabled land of... err I mean Polycom does stating what ftp servers are supported? Polycom IP 330 w/VLAN?
Hi, all. I see that the Polycom SoundPoint IP 330 supports VLAN... but I don't quite see how that works. Do you point a non-VLAN'd segment at it (akin to when you uplink a VLAN_enabled switch), and have the phone implement the VLAN? Or...? *puzzled* Thanks much, -Ken

Grandstream speakerphone?
Idle curiosity: I like the look and feel of the Grandstreams, but it's been my experience that the speakerphones suck (esp. when compared to the pretty damn flawless Polycoms). I've used the BT-100/101 and GS-2000; have any of their newer models changed that? Thanks! -Ken -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

OT: Polycom Registration Weirdness
This is a SER/Polycom question, but I hoped we may have some SER guru's here... I have a series of Polycom phones that are tying to register with OpenSER. The phone sends a REGISTER message, and OpenSER replies with Unauthorised (all normal). The phone re-sends the REGISTER with the credentials, and OpenSER sends Ok. Here's where it goes downhill. The polycom's appearance display

XML config files for Polycom SoundPoint IP 300?
I bought a couple Polycom Soundpoint 300's, and have them working nicely with SIP... but I'd like to be able to do automatic config via FTP, but it requires some XML config files. The docs discuss them in detail, but I can't seem to d/l them from Polycom. [No, it doesn't appear to be on the CD that comes with the phone.] I've created an account at Polycom's tech support

SpanDSP not sending to fax extension.
Hi, all. I've got a fax extension in my extensions.conf, but spandsp never sends my faxes there. Both applications -- txfax and rxfax -- are registered by Asterisk, so they compiled and installed correctly. I've got a Sangoma A104 card, and (as some people had suggested) have loaded ztdummy. Everything seems fine, except that it never gets recognized as a fax. I've even turned off

Uniden UIP200 configuration -- manual MIA?
Hi, all. Got my Uniden UIP200 today (ordered from thetwistergroup.com), and was very excited to set it up... until I came to the realization that there were no docs with it whatsoever. There was, however, a sheet of paper with the stock warnings (don't use the phone in the tub, etc.), AND a URL -- for documentation. Score! Well, no. The URL it gave me, bcs.uniden.com, does indeed have

Polycom behind NAT won't register to * server behind ALG
I?ve been tearing my hair out trying to get a Polycom phone (behind a NAT) to register to an * box behind a Cisco SIP ALG. With known good credentials configured on the phone and in *, I get 403 Bad Auth when trying to register. If I put the phone onto the same LAN as * it works fine without changing any authentication parameters whatsoever. If I make the secret blank (null) on the phone and *,

Mixmonitor
Hello, I recently switched over to using Mixmonitor versus Monitor to see if it would clear up some warble that I was getting in my recordings. It did indeed clear that up, but a new problem was introduced. The recordings for no reason will just end abnormally. There is no rhyme or reason as to when they will end, but usually after a minute or so. Here is my current setup. Asterisk v. 1-2-0rc2

polycom's don't register with 2.6.18
Hello, Our Polycom's 601 can no longer register or communicate with the asterisk server when using kernel 2.6.18.x. Cisco 79XX and other phones still work though. Downgrading back to latest 2.6.17.x solves the problem for Polycoms, but I'd really like to understand what's going on there... Any idea?

Three (quick?) questions...
[Please excuse if this is a repeat; I initially tried to send it from a different account, and it's been held up for a couple of days awaiting moderation.] 1) What's the absolute minimum required (hardware-wise) in order to get one in-bound POTS line into Asterisk, and then have IP phones "inside?" [In other words, I obviously need a NIC -- but what would be the

Polycom dhcpd.conf? [Or, "Some day, I'll figure this all out."]
I'm RTFM'ing, but I can't figure out how the dhcpd.conf file specifies the boot server, and how it differentiates between whether it's FTP or TFTP. I've tried option 66/next-server, and option 150, to no avail. And the docs just don't -- leastwise, in the way I'm reading them -- make sense. I've checked the admin guide, I've checked the wiki... no dice.
