Some strange window bahviour with Papyrus in wine
Hello
(I hope this is the correct group for this post - if not I am sure you
will tell me where to go :-)) )
I use wine 0.9.23-12.1 in Suse 10.1 on my laptop to run Papyrus (a word
processor originally written for the Atari platform and now available for
Windows).
I have been very pleased with recent versions of wine as it seems now to
be working almost perfectly for Papyrus :-)
However, I

quasi-symmetry loglinear models
Hi All,
I'm trying to implement a quasi symmetry model for data on twin
pairs. A crosstabulation of twin 1 by twin 2 (assumed symmetrical)
stratified by another variable. There is a good paper on this by
Phil (?) McCloud and Darroch in Biometrika (1995) which explains the
method, but I've not done this before so am not clear how to code
these models.
Any help would be greatly

pdf-printer
Hi,
I recently migrated from samba3 to samba4.
On the samba3 server I had a "printer" that converted pcl6 to pdf. I
tried to make a similar printer in samba4, but it's not working.
Not working means the printed document is nowhere to be found.
This is the section in smb.conf :
[papyrusPDF]
comment = Papyrus-to-PDF printer
path = /var/spool/samba
# guest ok = Yes

IP tunneling
Hi,
I have a problem with GRE tunneling. I read Advanced-Routing HOWTO
about this and I did all as is written in this documentation. Even the
same example is here which I need for my project.
I want create (by means of GRE tunneling or IP in IP tunneling) virtual
private network VPN - in first phase without IPsec in other phase with
IPsec.
I have two local networks distant apart with two routers.

Wine 0.9.40
Wow, WINE has come so far that I feel (am) old! :) With SafeDisc support,

Racing 2002, Payrus' NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition, Novalogic's F-22 Lightning
3 (w/o hardware acceleration), Novalogic's Comanche 4 and various other
applications with minimals difficulty. Keep up the great work! It's been a

Help with parsing a data file
Hi All,
I need to parse data from a file, example shown below. The first two lines
can be skipped, the third line contains the column names. The next 13 lines
can be skipped. The next line "1991" is a year value, with the following 13
values data for that year. The file then repeats this format with (year, 13
lines of data for that year). I would ideally like to end up with an

Segfaults after upgrade to GlusterFS 3.10.9
What's /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern set to for you? For me it is
% cat /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern
core
which will drop a core file in the working directory of the process.

change the label size when drawing trees with ape
Hi All,
I want to be able to change the labe size on a tree
when using ape package so that the graph can look
nicer, but don't know how. Playing with the "font"
doesn't seem to help. (Right now the labels barely
show.)
Thanks for your help!

yum bug...
Hey,
recently I experienced yum bugs on some servers...
A simple 'yum update' gives me the yum usage...
I noticed a difference between it and a simple 'yum':
? # yum udpate
? Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities
? usage: yum [options] COMMAND
? # yum

Correlation Matrix with a Covariate
R Help -
I'm trying to run a correlation matrix with a covariate of "age" and will
at some point will also want to covary other variables concurrently.
I'm using the "psych" package and have tried other methods such as writing
a loop to extract semi-partial correlations, but it does not seem to be
working. How can I accomplish this?

[LLVMdev] FYI: Phoronix GCC vs. LLVM-GCC benchmarks
I have run the john the ripper test.
I have used the official archive (same version as phoronix) from
http://www.openwall.com/john/g/john-1.7.3.1.tar.bz2
To build with llvm-gcc, replace the line CC = gcc with CC = llvm-gcc.
I have used the following command to build : make clean linux-x86-sse2
(seems to be the best on x86-32)
The makefile invocation is "gcc -c -Wall -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer

Replace <NA> with something else
I am reading some data into R from an Excel spreadsheet using read.csv. Some
of the original data that comes into column 1 from the spreadsheet is text
that says NA. The NA stands for north america. As it comes in, R converts
the NA over to <NA>.
What is the cleanest way to change the <NA> values to something else. In
other words, get rid of the brackets ? Maybe convert <NA>
