Odd bug in Siemens C460IP ?
Hello,
I think I have encountered an odd bug in Siemens C460 IP/dect handsets,
which is a bit annoying, and I'm not (yet) sure how to get round it without
lots of hacks.
Basically, on all external incoming calls, we set:
exten => s,n,SIPAddHeader(Alert-Info: Bellcore-dr2)
This causes handsets (i.e. Cisco 7960 / Grandstream / aastra) to set a
different ring cadence so to differentiate

Use DECT GAP handsets with Snom M3 base?
Anyone have practical experience using inexpensive GAP-compliant DECT
handsets with the Snom M3 basestation?
When I asked Snom support, the answer was that 'basic functionality
should work', but they didn't elaborate. I'm _guessing_ that means
registering/unregistering with the base, making calls, and receiving
calls (including presenting caller ID). They also stated that they

Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect.
Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect?
Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable

Siemens Gigaset IP in USA (S685 IP in particular)
For some unfathomable reason, Siemens USA doesn't offer the Gigaset IP
range in the U.S. I'm particularly interested in the Gigaset S685 IP.
Since it's DECT 6.0, and there's an English (UK) version, I'm thinking
it should work just fine, after dealing with the walwart issue (and
maybe caller ID signalling).
Anyone imported one from the UK and using it in the US? for how

DECT gateways
Heya list,
I need some advice/experience.
Some of our customers are asking us about DECT solutions for
their asterisk install. Some others will not go to asterisk
if there won't be a DECT solution.
They now have a Siemens or a Samsung PBX. Those PBX-es come
with a DECT basestation and optionally repeaters etc.
All those basestations speak some own protocol to the PBX,
so we cannot use them

Interrupt VM and Steal a call.
Two questions:
1. Does anyone have a good way to transfer a call from inside
comedian mail to the current extension? The problem is: let's say the
phone goes to voicemail after 4 rings, yet I don't hear it until the 3rd
ring. I come running into my office but miss it by a split second. Is
there a way I can barge in on the person leaving a message for my
mailbox while they're

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list.
I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The
three choices I can see, at this stage, are:
* wifi phones
* an ATA and a cordless analog phone
* a DECT to SIP basestation
The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are
costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed

Kirk IP600 V3 DECT Wireless server
Hi list!
Does anyone have experiences with the updated model of the Kirk IP600?
The V3 model is supposed to support SIP instead of only SCCP or H323 which
would make the use with Asterisk a lot easier.
I have only tested the Kirk IP600 V2 with SCCP / Skinny protocol which is
still giving me severe headaches :
- the standard Skinny driver in * doesn't work, only the version of

GSM/DECT handsets (was gsm picocells)
Now that I actually try and google for it, I can't find any dual mode
GSM/DECT handsets, only pages telling me that they exist without any
actual information!!!
Does anyone know of any such handsets? (and even better, ones that are
available in Australia) I've searched a few of the major gsm
manufacturers (nokia, Panasonic, sonyericsson) but their web sites are
absolutely pathetic to the

OT - DECT-GAP Handsets with Polycom-Kirk 600/3 base station
Hi,
I need to subscribe and use several Polycom-Kirk 5020 handsets along
non-Polycom-Kirk handsets on a one-cell Polycom-Kirk 600/3 base station.
Has anyone tried this ?
Which values did you pick for Subscription mode (with or without Account
Code) and IPEI ?

OT - DECT handset with Line key
Hi,
I need to replace digital handsets in offices where there cabling is
appareantly not Ethernet-compliant.
Today's usage is to press a key to toggle between private ou public line
before issuing an outgoing call.
Are you aware of a DECT handset (to overcome cabling limitations) that mimic
this line-key behaviour ?
For instance, acceptable behaviours would be to dial number string and press

say Asterisk to answer
Hi list,
I have 2 softphones, 1 Idefisk (IAX), 1 Xlite (SIP) registered to Asterisk.
One call the other-one, is it possible to order Asterisk to force answering
the call ? i.e. Xlite call Idefisk, Idefisk is ringing, I send a command to
Asterisk which force answer, so Idefisk answer the call without clicking on
"Accept" button.

However, I see that a slightly better Gigaset S450 IP
is available for only a slight price premium.
Are there any user experiences with the S450 IP?

Kirk SIP-DECT gateway
Hi,
I just got some interesting information from Kirk Telecom
(www.kirktelecom.com). This company has been in the business of providing
DECT solutions (IP gateway, base stations, repeaters and handsets) either to
be used with Cisco CallManager (SCCP protocol) or with the Innovaphone IP
PBX system (H.323).
Two important elements:
1. It seems they foresee a SIP version of their product in Q1

Siemens S685IP registration problems
Hi folks,
I wonder if any of you out there are using Siemens S685IP base station(s) (with S68H handsets) on Asterisk and experiencing problems with SIP registrations where the SIP extensions do not ring and peers become unreachable after a period of time.
Symptoms are rather sporadic, but as described, SIP extensions being unreachable from Asterisk perspective. Also experienced 'not

Siemens Gigaset S685IP Review
Hi there,
in case anyone is interested, I've just taken ownership of a small home
network (3 handsets) of the brand new Siemens DECT PSTN/VOIP phone.
It works great with Asterisk. Here's my overview and review so far...

Cubix Softphone + Asterisk 1.2.6
I've tried Idefisk and Cubix Softphones, and they both work fine, except
for two issues:
1. Idefisk seems to have a longer delay between the time I can hit
tones, and
2. Cubix, while can send DTMF faster, never actually connects to an
Asterisk-dialed call -- I can't hear the party who answers.
#2 has been asked but unanswered here:

Siemens Gigaset + Asterisk Query?
When you configure the Siemens gigaset handsets (I have S685IP), there
is a single option for all handsets to use either the POTS interface or
VOIP as the default outbound destination - you then need to add a dial
suffix if you want to use an alternate outbound route.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make just *one* of the
DECT handsets only use the POTS but others default to
