Is there any documentation that instructs a beginner how to configure (and the logic behind) wine and the steps necessary to install windows software? I have the user's guide but it does lack much, particularly what is going on. I am using ubuntu 6.06 and have presumably installed wine correctly. However, I cannot configure the system. I installed wine version 0.9.24 and winetools on my computer (OpenSuse 10.2) but I can't get it to configure at all. I first tried winetools and it said that I didn't have a configuration so run with the command wt. So I typed wt and nothing happened. Heres where I think the main problem lies though. When trying to install Microsoft Foundation Classes I find that winetools gets stuck on the mfc40.dll download. I can download mfc40.dll via my broswer, however. I tried installing IE6 using winetools, this failed for some reason. after several attempts i found IEs4linux, which installed IE5 and IE6 for me with no hassle, can i get winetools to recognise this install? because it won't let me install other software at the minute, or could someone give me a hand in getting winetools to work with the original IE6 setup? cheers!
