How to run different codecs between the same endpoints on an IAX trunk?
Or perhaps how to configure and refer to two parallel IAX trunks with different codecs? I have a situation where I'm using G.729A as my IAX trunking codec. Now I need to push some short duration, low bitrate modem traffic over the link (a credit card terminal). Obviously the modem audio isn't going to survive the G.729 codec process intact, so for the times the device is used I'd like

IAX2 Trunk two Asterisk boxes.
I need to get 2 Asterisk servers working together. I have been reading and doing just about every example I have been able to find here on the list and the Wiki. It's now gotten to the point that nothing on box2 seems to be working. I seem to have a major problem understanding the format. Here is what I have so far. It's 3 days of hair pulling and nothing seems to work! Asterisk box 1

Codec Issue on IAX trunk?
Hi All - Well, after happily existing in a one office environment with asterisk for a few months, I've now decided to start adding in our other offices with their own * boxes and IAX connections (over VPN). Unfortunately, I'm an idiot and I can't get it to work. I'm having some kind of problem with codecs, I guess, but I don't understand what or why. When trying to use

one-way IAX trunking
Two asterisk servers, one running a recent HEAD, the other 1.0.9. I have both ends set up with trunk=yes, notransfer=yes, type=friend. I notice that the trunking works from HEAD to 1.0.9 only (the direction in which calls are originated). I know this by bandwidth usage and by iax2 trunk debug. I did have to use trunktimestamps=no on the HEAD end to keep it quiet. I assume this is the new

iax notransfer=no and Tt in Dial()
I have a situation where our VOIP provider is running *, my office is running *, and my house is running *. I have an extension at the office so that if a call comes in from the VOIP provider and they select that extension, the call will be sent to my home * box and ring my phone. That works fine. I set "notransfer=no" in the iax.conf file at the office so that the office system can

ASTCC Trunk and Routes Configuration
Dear List members- I am trying to configure ASTCC (Asterisk calling card application) but having a hard time to configure it properly. My project deadline is approaching and couldn't figure out how to make ASTCC functional. Here are some details what I have done so far. 1) I have installed ASTCC successfully. 2) I can access astcc-admin.cgi script without any problem. 3) I have created

Disabling native bridging for IAX calls
I have found out that the reason why my call transfers are not working when using the IAX protocol is because Asterisk is performing a native bridge. If I force the user of one of the clients to use a different codec so that Asterisk is unable to do a native transfer then it works. How can I disable native bridge for IAX calls? I know for SIP you can put 'canreinvite=no' but this does

IAX Calls - One Way Audio
Hello List, I am currently having a bit of a strange issue with a pair of asterisk servers that we recently set up. For a bit of background, this particular business has two sites in two different towns, about 10 minutes apart. They have 3 analogue PSTN lines connected to the asterisk servers at each location, via a Sangoma A200 (with HEC). They are trying to have just the one receptionist for

It happens 60-70% of the time. extentions.conf [general] static=yes writeprotect=no autofallthrough=yes clearglobalvars=no priorityjumping=no

Setting Max Calls on an IAX trunk
Hi all, Is it possible to set the maximum number of simultaneous calls on an IAX trunk? I want to allow a maximum of 4 calls on our IAX trunk to a remote office, and then route any additional calls over the PSTN after that. I was thinking of keeping track of a count using the AstDB, but I'm not sure how this would go if I had 4 calls incoming on the IAX trunk... Anyone implemented

Call forwarding of IAX inbound call
I am trying to do the following: 1. Call comes in to my * box over IAX (VP Connect DID) 2. Check to see if call should be forwarded to my cell 3. Forward the call to my cell phone and take * out of the media path. I am able to do all of the above except * is not able to natively bridge the call. I am using sixtel and for the call forward portion, but the calls don't connect before sixtel

How do I make this stop? (Bridging of IAX channels?)
-- Attempting native bridge of IAX2/peer1-iax-7 and IAX2/peer2-21 I want everything to stay in the VoIP server rather then briding. I have notransfer=yes on, but it still seems to bridge the call natively.. can I keep the RTP stream on the asterisk server some how?

No Audio on Local Machine, Remote works fine
I don't even know where to begin. I run a lot of production Asterisk servers, for a couple of years now, with no real problems. We built a brand new box, CentOS 4.2, and installed Asterisk 1.2.4 from source tarball(s). Built fine, and started up fine. Any attempts to do local audio (e.g. a "Playback(welcome)") results in complete silence. Worse, the Playback command will hang

lost packets when bridging zap and iax
We have a machine with a TE410P in it acting as a client to route calls via iax2 to our central server, caller --> ( zap -> iax ) ---> ( iax -> whatever ) --> called client server often the called can't hear the caller (both machines on public ip) 'iax2 show netstats" on client machine shows more and more dropped packets on the

IAX qualify timers
Hi, I think I encountered a bug in the qualify timers for IAX on asterisk 1.8 but I'd like to check if I'm not messing up in my config somewhere before reporting a bug. In my IAX peer configuration I have this: [remote-host] type=friend host=172.16.6.45 username=remote-host secret=test notransfer=yes qualify=16000 qualifyfreqnotok=30000 disallow=all allow=alaw allow=ulaw allow=ilbc

Maximum tollerable lag/jitter for IAX2 w/o j itterbuffer enabled?
Unfortunatly no on both counts. The arrangement right now has: PSTN Trunks & Stations <-> Nortel Norstar#1 <-CT1-> Asterisk#1 <-IAX2-> Asterisk#2 <-CT1-> Nortel Nortstar#2 <-> Stations The Asterisk boxes provide Voicemail to their sites Norstars and intersite calls over IAX. Local Voicemail works flawlessly at each site but there have been reports of PSTN calls

RE: 2 asterisks connected but trying to bridge
Hey, For the bridge issue, take a look at 'notransfer=yes' option in your iax.conf. It'll force * to stay in the path http://www.mail-archive.com/asterisk-users@lists.digium.com/msg42262.html

1.4 and IAX Trunks ...
Something I've just noticed that might persuade me to move to 1.4 ... in iax.conf, there is a new option: transfer=mediaonly Does this mean that it keeps itself in the loop as far as signalling/CDR is concerned, but lets the media stream go between the 2 endpoints? ie. Asterisk A <-> Asterisk B <-> Asterisk C Where B keeps track of CDRs, so right now I have

Problems with IAX Trunks
I have two asterisk servers connected using IAX. Server A has a TE410P running on a Xeon 2.4Ghz with 2GB RAM and 36G IDE HD on Debian 2.6.11-1-686 and Asterisk CVS-Nv1-0-7-06/01/05-01:27:25. Server B does not have any Digium board, but has ztdummy and zaptel loaded. It's runnin on a P4 1.6Ghz with 1GB RAM and 36G SCSI RAID 10 on Gentoo 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 and Asterisk 1.0.7. The
