Asterisk International Carrier Buildout - Create our own International networks for BEST pricing!
Asterisk Users, I am reposting to the Asterisk-Users list what I saw on the Asterisk-Biz list by Mr. Jeff Grammer, GOD BLESS HIM! I am in the Hamptons today, trying to whew a client, and he took a look at my Level3 Partner pricing, and laughed, as his rates were better than mine!!! To top that off, I am colocated within the Level3 datacenter, he has no computers, and gets better rates. So,

Rackspace, Engine Yard, Heroku, etc. - Which do you recommend?
Hello. We are looking for a new provider to host our Rails site -- we have outgrown our current provider (for the past 4 years) since our business is beginning to take off in a big way this year. Which provider (e.g. Rackspace, Engine Yard, Heroku, Serverbeach, etc.) would you recommend to run a highly scalable site? FYI, we currently have over 150,000 users that will likely grow to a million

Theora streaming from windows
We run an icecast server that several people in Louisville use for audio streaming. A number of people have expressed an interest in video streaming through it, too, but cringe when I talk about setting up a linux server for streaming. Has anyone managed to get streaming working from Windows media encoder using the directshow plug ins? I'd like to be able to tell people they can encode the

Don't wait on testing results from me
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hey all, I'm a bit disappointed, but it seems that I won't be able to get all the testing results that I wanted for the new vs. old Theora encoders done this week. I am rather busy with some family matter and we're also going to be moving from Malaysia back to the US shortly, God-willing, so things are a bit hectic here. I have done

What's wrong with yum-priorities?
"The upstream maintainer of yum, Seth Vidal, had the following to say about 'yum priorities' in September 2009: Gosh, I hope people do not set up yum priorities. There are so many things about priorities that make me cringe all over. It could just be that it reminds me of apt 'pinning' and that makes me want to hurl." This note was placed on the wiki

Skype Users
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 found this today, I am not a skype user but have read on chan_skype and don't like aspects of how it is implemented. My thoughts on it are only theoretical as I haven't used it I just cringe at adding X to a server. Anyhow there is a new project called sippyskype that appears to do a similar sort of thing with a couple differences. 1. Its

Postfix , Dovecot & the Spam fight
Hi, I'm currently busy with a substiution of my current mail server. I'm currently using * Clam-SMTP and * SpamAssassin to fight Spam. I wonder if it is worth implementing AmaViS with SpamAssassin backend instead and also using AmaViS to speak to clamd directly. But I more and more wonder wether AmaViS is even worth it?! It currently looks to me as if AmaViS is eating LOTS of

POP3 and AVG
Is anyone running v 1.2.3 and have clients with AVG email scanning? I upgraded a server a few weeks ago (which ran Dovecot and the Maildir mail store), and all of a sudden clients with AVG were unable to use POP. Essentially, AVG freezes. The server upgrade was from FreeBSD 7 to OpenSolaris 2009.06, and I did upgrade the Dovecot version from 1.1.17 to 1.2.3, but kept the same config.

Hello again! thanks to all who helped with overlay plots - v. easy in the end. Anyway, another new(ba)bee type question - the gurus will cringe I'm sure! Q. simple R function mm <- function (u) { x <- u$GDP x m <- mean(x) m } When the function is called the vector "x" does not get printed from within the function, but the mean value "m" does, why? I
