idefisk 4 linux now available for download
It took a little longer then expected, but here it finally is, a field
test for the idefisk for linux iax2 softphone.
Freely downloadable from http://www.asteriskguru.com/tools/
You will probably need to copy the iaxclient lib into your library
directory and run ldconfig before starting the phone.
Please note that this is the first copy in the wild of the linux version
and is not as tested

Softphone that supports central provisioning?
Has anyone found a softphone that supports pulling it's configuration from a
central server via TFTP/FTP/HTTP, much like hard desk phones use?
I'm looking for something for a call center that I can provision from a
central location by generating config files. If the phone has "soft keys"
(yes, I know they're all soft - but you know what I mean; programmable
buttons whose

Xlite not communicating with Asterisk
Dear All,
I have downloaded the xlite version 2.0 for windows and I made the
following conf in the xlite itself as the document suggested in order to
make it work with Asterisk but still it doesn't work as a matter of fact
when I tried to make a tcp dump I can see no packets going between the
windows client and the Asterisk server at all, here is the my conf on

Cubix Softphone + Asterisk 1.2.6
I've tried Idefisk and Cubix Softphones, and they both work fine, except
for two issues:
1. Idefisk seems to have a longer delay between the time I can hit
tones, and
2. Cubix, while can send DTMF faster, never actually connects to an
Asterisk-dialed call -- I can't hear the party who answers.
#2 has been asked but unanswered here:

iaxComm problems
Hi Folks.
I have installed two sip phones and two PCs in a network. The later with
iaxComm. Calls are made between the sip phones and between a sip phone and a
PC.
When calling from one PC to the other the iaxComm shows ??? in the status
column and the call can't be answered.
The same goes if anyone calls from the outside and tries to reach a PC.
Any ideas?
Regards.

Asterisk 1.2.9 and 1.0.11 Released -- Security Fix
The Asterisk Development Team today released Asterisk 1.2.9 and Asterisk
1.0.11 to address a security vulnerability in the IAX2 channel driver
(chan_iax2). The vulnerability affects all users with IAX2 clients that
might be compromised or used by a malicious user, and can lead to denial
of service attacks and random Asterisk server crashes via a relatively
trivial exploit.
All users are urged to

UK experts only. BT Outgoing caller ID not showing
Hi
Just moved offices in the UK and moved our Asterisk box from old one to new
one. Using idefisk softphones, Junghanns quadbri card for ISDN 2e interfaces.
At both offices we had one standard number and a DDI range, routed with
Asterisk.
We'd set up the configuration so each idefisk set its own caller ID which then
got sent by the extensions.conf script. Worked fine at old place but in

Newbie would like some planning advice.
My wife and daughter, and to lesser extent myself and my daughters
boyfriend would like a communications system which allowed us to talk
to each other, both on a one on one basis, but also occassionally in
conference. My wife and I live in a house with an internal LAN with
each of us with a desktop machine (hers in Windows XP, mine runs Linux)
and a Linux server acting as firewall and NAT

Vista compatibilty in SIP softphones
Greetings list,
I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that, unsurprisingly, nearly every new PC seems to be coming with Vista these days. I expect it'll only be a matter of time for all of us before clients start needing Vista-compatible softphones (if it's not already happened).
So, what's the story with Vista compatibility amongst the softphones currently out there?

Asterisk and 3PCC
Hi all,
I have an Asterisk server running, and some hardware phones, and I want to
do 3PCC : third party call control.
The third party is a software running on the asterisk box, which can for
example ask a hard SIP phone to put a call on hold. To do that, this
software has to send a SIP message to this phone.
How can I do that ?
