Hint for Wine + Type1 + FrameMaker / Update for the Font HOWTO
Hi Avi, Having spend endless hours looking for how to make Wine and Type1 fonts working together. I finally decided to convert my Type1 fonts to Truetype (after a hint by someone that Wine does not have Type1/Adobe support). Note: I'm not sure if this is true since there is a wine [afmdirs] section in the wine config. Wine still had troubles with (at least) some of the files. Converting

Problems with fonts on linux using GDD
Hi Apologies for this question. I have read the help for GDD and font mapping, and it tells me that the config file, /usr/lib/R/library/GDD/fonts/basefont.mapping is responsible for mapping fonts to the GDD library. However: > .GDD.font() [1] "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/l048013t.afm" [2] "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/l048016t.afm" [3]

Desperate: problems with fonts, I can not make it work
I am trying to make wine run with a couple of windows applications and there is no way I can get normal fonts. All I get is little squares instead. I have set up a directory /home/username/.wine/fake_windows/Fonts that has quite a few .ttf files that I got from my Windows98 partition. I have also set up chkfontpath to the right path (please see attached files). Then what can be wrong? I

wine using -windows-System- font
I have noticed my WINE isn't using mentioned font already for a quiet long time. After having read http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main on this I found paragraph "5.10.1.1. How To Convert Windows Fonts". After I completed first 4 steps I stuck problem with 5th step: 5, Edit the ~/.wine/config file to remove aliases for the fonts you've just installed.

X11 font troubles (Knoppix/Debian unstable)
I'm getting Error in strwidth(...) : X11 font at size 15 could not be loaded kinds of errors when I try to change cex to something *other* than 1 (works OK otherwise). I can't get through to RSiteSearch() right now, but as I recall my search of it only revealed people who had problems because they had failed to install fonts: my Knoppix/tracking Debian unstable distribution claims

Truetype and Opentype font in pdf device
Deal all, I want to know if truetype or opentype fonts are available in pdf device (i.e., pdf() or dev.copy2pdf()), and if so, how to do it? Now I can do as followings: 1. convert ttf to afm using ttf2afm, e.g.: $ ttf2afm Impact.ttf > Impact.afm 2. put the afm file in $R_HOME/library/grDevices/afm 3. register a new type1 font: pdfFonts(Impact=Type1Font("Impact",

Fonts in Wine again
Hi all, I'm using wine-1.3.4 with Ubuntu 10.04. I have two problems with font rendering in wine: 1) I can not find any possibility to disable rendering of internal bitmaps in TTF. Sometimes the text looks very ugly, especially when i'm using different languages in the same text, but bitmaps exist only for English. So far the only way to avoid this is to remove bitmaps via FontForge. 2)
